The other issue is that transfer speeds are noticeably slow than WD 3 5" USB drives I bought for half the price, three years ago. I won't be buying another Canvio.

I bought this a few months ago and found that if you are using it as a backup solution, as in copy local files off main PC, then it does the job. If you are constantly accessing files or updating spreadsheets etc, the drive goes into what I would assume is a powersave mode. You hear it having to spin up again. When you then try and resave your spreadsheet it doesn't recognise the location of the original work and you have to save it locally and copy it back to the HD which is a bit of a pain. I will say yes to recommending it for backups or pure storage but No to actively working on live files.I hope this helps.

does what it is designed for works ok and seams well made- my big issue is that i am not a computer genius just having a base level skill set so my problem was that THE DEVICE DOES NOT COME WITH ANY KIND OF INSTRUCTIONS! you get a down load but again it makes the assumption you know what to do!- theres no basic or beginers tutorial what so ever!. got it done in the end but took hours of trial and error and frustrations! not a reflection of the devices function or design just the user information provided!.

Cons: I have bought several of these. One of them failed after only a couple weeks. Now crashes the computer and data recovery programmes cannot find anything on it. Now scrap and potentially lost the data (all I can do is try and recover from cloud or see if bits of it are on another drive). I started buying this brand as I have had a couple of WD and Seagate crashes after about two years. What make can you trust?
Much is expected from the Cobra Brand products., yet this item does not live up to my expectations. Its very sensible, did not find ways to upgrade nor does the instructions take you on to do so. Its quirks and sounds are loud enough., yet it alarms go off on signs and traffic lights ., I have passed by several police cars on the highway and for that purpose, it doesnt go off signaling me of radars ahead of I am completely astonished as well as dissapointed with such an expensive radar that doesnt live up to its reputation. To me its a 4 thumbs down as I will give it away., to never ever again purchase any Cobra Branded products.
Pros: I compact little drive with enormous capacity, so far has proven reliable with no faults whatsoever. Highly recommended especially for the price. I like the little carry pouch too even though I probably won't be getting much use from it as I'm keeping the device indoors.Cons: It would be nice if it were ruggedised against the elements but you can't have everything for such a good price!
Small hard drive with lots of storage space. I can't say too much about the quality of this model, because I just got it and errors in hard drives can occur 1-2 years later. However, I consciously chose this disk because I have been using the smaller 2TB model since the end of 2019 and have not had any problems with it so far. But now it is slowly getting full, so a larger one had to be found.Since I assume that the same technology is installed here as in the smaller one, the transfer rate will probably collapse with this model as well as soon as larger amounts of data are copied in one go. All external hard drives I've used have had this problem.
My Strong PVR has been working well for 5 or more years but then the internal disk became inaccessible. I attached the Toshiba disk via the USB port and it has replaced the internal disk. It seems unable to cope with multiple recordings and simultaneous playback probably due to the USB limitation. With careful programming, it works fine and has extended the life of my treasured PVR. I'm sure the Toshiba disk will find a new purpose when the PVR finally dies. Toshiba IT is good quality, I have a Toshiba laptop which is 10 years old and still boots up OK.
It works with my iPad Air 4. Of course, you'll need a usb-a to usb-c adapter (I recommend Belkin) or a hub with a usb-a 3.0 port that works with iPad. And you'll need to format the drive to exFat or Fat32 with a pc or mac because you can't format an external drive with an iPad. All of this isn't too difficult and it's nice having 3.63 TB of external storage for my iPad Air 4. It might seem like a bit overkill but from my experience, you can never have too much hard drive space. Especially if you start recording a lot of 4k videos with the iPad Air 4. Plus, this drive came in my fav color (red) so that's an added bonus.
This drive has given me no issues ans just keeps on working. The past external drive I boughtt was 500 Gb and costs this much money. I took a chance on Toshiba since I usually use Seagattes, but his drive is performing as well as any other dirve i have had, and it's much faster also. It's great to move lots of files from my lapop to my server at one ttime. Works justt tas well on Linux as it does on Windows. I don't have a MAC tto ttes it on but it's a USB product and MAC is based on LInux, so I'm sure it will work as well
