So far, this is an efficient and reliable external drive. For the price, it is hard to beat, and a basic USB 3+ connection is all I need. It is not as sturdy as my external G-Drive, but the drive mechanism itself may not be altogether different. It seemed optimized for Windows -- plug-and-play, as advertised. Transfer speed seems competitive, and it is quiet. I anticipate it will last longer than the Seagate 4 TB that died on me. A worthwhile storage purchase.

I recently purchased the Toshiba 2TB USB 3.2 Gen hard drive for work purpose, and it has exceeded my all expectations. The speed and reliability of this drive are outstanding. It was breeze to setup and works seamlessly with my laptop and any other devices. Considering the performance and storage capacity this drive is great value for money. Toshiba has once again delivered the top-notch product. Im extremely satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend this brand to anyone in need for reliable and spacious storage.
Wouldn't recommend this product. While it does transfer quickly, it is very difficult to keep it open. It will crash at the slightest movement (using a mouse or keyboard). It also closes Explorer while in use and has to be disconnected\reconnected to get it open.I've owned at least 75 external hard drives and this, by far, is the most cumbersome and useless one of the bunch. Nobody has all day to transfer thousands of files.I highly recommend steering clear unless you like being frustrated and getting nothing useful done.

This drive has optional password protection software, which is free but must be downloaded from the Toshiba Canvio link included in the hard drive when it is plugged in. After downloading, installing and configuring the external hard drive with this software, it will be password protected. It's a fast and easy process. All files will now be secured and won't be visible or accessible until the password is entered and I love that. I recommend that the password protection software be installed first before transferring any files over to the external hard drive. For the longest time I used SanDisk thumb drives and their Datavault software for password protection but no more. SanDisk encrypted files are still visible when you plug in a thumb drive. Even though these files are encrypted and don't identify their contents, they can still be accidentally or maliciously deleted and then the drive becomes useless. This is not the case with Toshiba's Canvio Advance Plus. So if privacy, security and safety is important to you, Toshiba Canvio Advance Plus is the answer. I never really endorse any tech company products but I'll sure endorse this one. This is my second Toshiba external hard drive. My first Toshiba external hard drive was a Canvio 500GB that I purchased back in 2014 and it still works to this very day. I expect the same longevity from this hard drive as well. Overall, a great investment.
Absolute garbage!When sitting idle for a few minutes (4:20 to be exact - I timed it) this drive shuts off, making itself invisible to the computer.It even shuts off in the middle of data transfers which makes no sense at all!(and no, the problem is not with my Linux computer - I have three other drives I can plug into same port and none of them shut off by themselves)This drive corrupted the file system and I had to reformat it four times before I figured out what it was doing.It can't even do a full drive format because it shuts off before it's done! Only quick formats.I will be taking this little paperweight back to the store for a refund!
no problems with shipping. arrived in perfect condition. do no interchange the usb connector. it does require c usb the cord is designed for this Device. so simple to plug in and start moving files. mainly photographs. 2 gig and it went quick... like so great. unplugging is great and def portable. i did drop it accidentally.. it is sturdy and there didn't seem to be any storing damage but if you are a bit of clutz present company included, then a shock carrier may help

Normal 512 byte sectors in 4096 blocks, no idiotic translation.Can be used for a reasonably fast bootable external linux system for those people with systems allowing legacy usb boot. Make sure to leave a 2m bios boot partion if using bios boot.
