I am currently using this with an unlimited smarty data sim and am getting 25 to 30 Mbs which is 4 times faster than the landline speeds available where I live. I was using my mobile phone tethering beforehand but the speed was never as consistent or as good as this.Setup was simple and everything worked within a couple of minutes.I have the router sitting on the window ledge in an upstairs bedroom as that is the best location in my house for signal. The built in antennas are doing a great job so there shouldn't be any need to try and boost the signal.I honestly wish I had considered getting one of these 4G modems sooner as the speed is so much better and I am paying much less for my internet now. I can even do some online gaming which I couldn't have ... Great router for 4G connectivity. Offers some advanced features from the custom firmware but it's easy to setup and get running. Good reception and good wifi coverage too.

The unit does a good job, and is easy to set up. BUT although both the tech specs on TP-Link's website AND the internal helpfiles on the router talk about WDS, there is no WDS. TP-Link accepted their error and exchanged this unit for a different model which included WDS. So if you WDS, don't buy the MR400.
Pros: Solid, light, reliable, very easy to set-up, fantastic reception, good strong signal strength.Cons: Can be affected by bad weather such as rain and mist when using 4g but that's pretty standard and to be honest it's barely noticeable.
Very easy to set up out of the box - just plug in a SIM & switch it on! Very stable & a reliable data link - I've not had to restart the router since it was installed I got good performance indoors in a rural setting. Placed it next to a window for best performance - and tried a few windows around the house. The strongest signal (and best throughput) was not the shortest path to the nearest 4G mast - which surprised me. So it is worth trying different locations until you get the best signal.
Pros: Holds a steady, consistent, connection. Replaced a Huawei 525 with this and whilst the speed has remained the same the consistency of service is much better
