Worked right out of the box, or so I thought. The default Windows driver is not stable with frequent drop outs, however, grab the correct driver off the website and everything works. Really good reception too, even in a wifi not spot. Just lost a star for the flaky default driver which many may nto be able to resolve.

I've used this product for more than a month, hoping to utilise its faster wifi specification being 802.11ac. Even though it can see my 5Ghz wireless AC access point channel with full bars, it fails to connect to it. I ended up using the 2.4 Ghz wireless N channel. I did not return the product because it works fine with lower wifi speed. However, after a month of using, my wireless connection gets dropping out. I thought it was a driver problem, but after re-installing the drivers, the wifi drop out still persists. I don't recommend this product!

This card is great when it wants to be, but will frequently drop connection speed down to nearly 0. Drivers must be buggy or something. Requires manual resetting to restore speed.I've owned two of these cards (I'd forgotten my issues with the first and ended up buying another one).Strongly recommend avoiding this model and trying something else.I hope I can get my money back...

Bang on!
28 August 2020

This product is absolutely bang on the money! My internet access is literally at my front door, and my front room is the other side of the flat, and on the other side of the hall. So for my gaming desktop, a cable is a no-go, sadly.I used WiFi extenders, however gamers beware! These things have some sort of wierd built-in "swing." I have no idea what it is, but under high demand, it will boot you off now and then for up to a few minutes. I tried about 5 different brands, all the same. But this simple PCIe adapter is cheaper, but powerful, and it WORKS!! Gaming has been smooth ever since!! And, incase you aren't knowledgeable on such things, you can fit this PCIe x1 into any PCIe 1, 4, 8, or 16 slot.

Generally, I'm not about using wifi in my home with full PCs, but I have one special edge case. For my peripheral testing, I've set up a skeleton case PC that USUALLY is on a workbench, but occasionally travels around the house. When mobile, I connect to my LAN with wifi (a bunch of Ubiquiti 802.11ac APs throughout the home). I had been using an Edimax Nano USB wireless NIC... it's awful, but it's all I had laying around. It was time for a change, so I got a TP-Link AC1200 PCIe Wireless Wifi PCIe Card. As you'd expect, there's virtually nothing to set up. I installed the card in a Z370 motherboard with no issues (though it shouldn't matter what board it goes in). Usage in Windows 10 and BSD was uneventful. I achieved a link speed in excess of 1Gbit/s (a new one for me), but the AP is fed with 1 Gbit/s, so it wasn't surprising when Chariot returned ~880 Mbit/s. The antenna setup appears to work well, but it's possibly the only weak point. The mini-SMA antennas being mounted to the card bracket is perfect for me (since I need to easily carry around the testbed), but fixed desktop users may get better performance with one of the cards with the remote antenna assemblies (that way it's not hanging out behind your metal case, around all of your metal cables). Recommended.

Good for streaming, bad for gaming

I started playing an MMO recently, and I keep losing connection on the game every couple of minutes. Looking at forums, my Network Resource Monitor, and Wireshark, and reviews on this product, I believe my issue is with this product rather than my computer, the game severs, or my home network. Wire shark: I dont see dubious traffic when the game lags suggesting some other application or virus would be hogging up the bandwidth causing my game to lag. What I do see are missing packet responses. Home Network: This MMO has a mobile version, (it is OSRS for those familiar), and the game runs without issue or any kind of lag on the same game server on my iPhone10 connected to the same WiFi Network. Home Network: This MMO has a mobile version, (it is OSRS for those familiar), and the game runs without issue or any kind of lag on the same game server on my iPhone10 connected to the same WiFi Network. Resource Monitor: In the resource monitor, I see these huge spikes in the chart when I lag. I believe what is happening is the product is cutting out, then responding to everything all at once which is causing this spike. The spikes dont seem to be from another new process or change the mean of bits per second to increase in any process. Reviews + Forums: 1 star reviews on this product also suggest the product cuts out often and causes interrupts in other peoples games. I have downloaded the latest driver as the response from the manufacturer suggests and saw no change in the issue I am having. Other forums suggest changing power saving options off on the device or to uninstall the driver and restart your computer so it reinstalls. Other software solutions like clearing DNS cache do not help. Note: I did just upgrade do a NURBENN EP-AC9636 and my issue with playing online games has disappeared.

Piece of garbage.
22 December 2022

After fiddling for an hour, I can barely manage to get 20mbps on this piece of utter garbage. My phone, connected to the same network, sitting next to my pc, and therefore going through the same obstacles, connected on the same exact network, pulls 150mpbs.Yet another tplink product I regret purchasing. Barely worth the thirty cents I'd get from a scrap dealer for turning in this glorified paperweight.

I built a desktop for my elderly father with no ability to have wired networking. I was a little skeptical about using a wireless adapter rather than built into the motherboard. It couldn't have been easier. A new fresh OS install of Windows 10 recognized the card immediately during the setup process before the OS was even fully installed. Great reception signal strength as well.

This is the kind of product that requires a *TINY* bit of knowledge to install and configure, so naturally there are a ton of negative reviews on Home Essentials Direct because people don't know what they're doing. Old versions of windows 10 had issues with this card - this has since been fixed. So if you have a newer build of windows 10 (1809 or newer) you just plug it in and it works. No driver install, you don't need the disc, windows 10 already has the driver for it out of the box and it works great. Been using it for a week without a single problem. I bought this because I got fiber and wanted to take advantage of it. I can download at 45MB/s (megabytes, not megabits...) which is the same speed I get on LAN. Not sure what all the complainers are talking about, because this card is perfect. Easy to install, speeds are high, and it works great for gaming. VERY happy with the purchase!!

Built a new computer that did not have built in wireless access. This machine is actually used as a render machine for our designer.Since we did not want to run cords all over the office, a pci-e wireless adapter was our best solution. I wasn’t too sure what brand was best, but having used TP-Link routers, figured this was a good option. On the freshly build pc, with this plugged in, before even booting into windows, the system recognized and was able to connect easily to my work network for some pre-os config.Windows 10 had no issues finding drivers for it, everything just worked. Our designer was able to transfer at roughly 1 GB / 12 seconds to be rendered out on his dual gpu setup. This was even at 30 feet from the access point in the office.
