I have always believed that you could only get fast internet connection using asn Ethernet cable. My home is small but this became so unsightly. This product proves me wrong. I am absolutely astounded at the speeds I obtain. If you are like me, do not hesitate, it may be a little on the expensive side, but it will be as fast as a cable connection.

My return window has frustratingly passed already.I see now on the tp-link website that this is apparently common for some operating systems. I was installing Windows 10, so you would think they would make this very very clear on the product page, probably at the very top, that this doesn't work with Windows 10 if that is in fact the issue. But of course, they didn't supply that sort of warning. There was nothing else installed on computer. If you look at the attached photo, which was a screenshot of my network status, the card definitely connects as an 802.11ax client with a WPA3 protocol. If I need another adapter like this in the future, I'd get this again in a heartbeat.

My WiFi on my 5Ghz band would lose Internet connectivity, but since my router broadcasts two 5Ghz signals over different antennas, I thought maybe I had a defective antenna, so I switched to my other WiFi band, but the problem persisted. At this point, I figured what the heck and reset Windows, wiping everything out, re-installing all my drivers from scratch. This also had no impact on the problem.I started to do a bit further testing and ran some speed tests, noticing strange behavior on the uplink. It would stutter during speed tests, which I have never seen before. Ookla is a great example, because from a browser on your desktop, you can see the minute differences in the fractions of Mbps as it constantly refreshes. With my ac1200 card getting ~300+ steady on uplink, this was only capable of ~180. You'd essentially see the decimals change and then just freeze before suddenly jumping around again.I did some more digging and decided to tear down the unit compared to an Asus unit I had. The heatsink is quality, it's a nice lightweight aluminum and has a heat pad which appears to be decent quality over the chip. This is held down with three small phillips head screws. Removing this, I noticed that the antenna connections are not directly connected to the chip, but instead, there is a trace on the motherboard from the connectors to the standalone wiring. Not sure if this really has an impact or not, I'm not an electrical whiz, but the Asus unit I tore down did not have a trace, the antennas were just directly connected to the antenna cables.I popped out the chip - Intel AX200 - and noticed some dark coloration on the gold contacts. I am not sure if this is "normal" or not, but the AC1200 (also Intel) had no discoloration. I popped this into the Asus board and reconnected the antenna cables, and attempted tests using both the magnetic base antennas with the unit and the stock Asus ones (plastic, folding, non-magnetic). The problem with the upload speeds and random disconnects still occurred, leading me to believe the chip was defective.Due to this, I switched back to the old ASUS AC1200 card. So here's the bottom line, IF you get a good one (because mine may have just been defective), it's a great value. You WILL get good speeds and a well built unit with a great antenna base, but you may also wind up with a problematic unit that causes frustrations.

My computer is at the opposite corner and end of a decently sized home. The AC3168 continuously struggled to keep a stable connection of a 5Ghz Band. The AC3168 also gave me about 25-35% of the total possible bandwidth my internet provider advertised. As for this beast of a Network card rocking the AX200 chip even without the antenna accessory attached gave me the full speed of my internet connection and the stability is perfect. It dropped the ping about 10-15ms which is perfect. I know this chip is capable of speeds between 800-950 Mbps for this with gigabit internet connections. In the photo: excuse, my bad wiring the antenna has one wire coming to it and it splits into two when connecting to the card. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth feature does need a USB header to be taken.
