We just moved into a 4-storey new build and the fibre box was located on the bottom floor in the garage. The wifi barely reached the second floor (living areas) but did not reach the third or fourth floors at all (bedrooms). I didn't realise how much we depended on internet until now. Our working from home, kids homework, even the television...all online. This Mesh System is relatively cheap in comparison to other models and it works great. It is super easy to set up. I only checked the instructions to know what the different lights meant. Full wifi bars and fast internet on every floor. I could only put each unit on the first three floors and I wondered whether I needed to purchase another unit but it wasn't necessary...strong wifi signal reaches the top floor fine ... If you're needing more coverage for your wifi internet, this is exactly what you're looking for. Outstanding reliability and signal strength that was very easy to configure and setup. Simple instructions on the app will have you up and connected in no time. Needed a replacement router with extended range to reach my newly installed Ring devices outside of my home as my Linksys router wasn't getting the job done. Thanks to Google, this model came up first. I read the first 10 reviews and I was sold! The set up process was a breeze. Just download the Deco app onto your smartphone and it basically walks you through step by step and makes the set up process super easy, even for those who aren't tech savvy! It took me no more than 10 minutes to set up both units in my home. I am so impressed with the coverage/range within my home (2,000 sq ft - 1 story home). I definitely noticed a tremendous difference in my internet speed! No more buffering, dead spots and best of all, my outdoor Ring devices are in business! I am super ... I was hoping these would solve my wifi strength problem but so far I am not impressed. I specifically bought them because they said that they would use the electrical system in my house to hard wire the units so that they get great reception. Then the documentation says that they must be placed on the same circuit! Unfortunately, the upstairs and downstairs don't share any common electrical circuits. That's a ridiculous limitation. The other day they stopped communicating with the Internet. I rebooted my Fios routers, hard wired a computer to it and confirmed that the Internet was accessible. I restarted the TP-Links and they would still get red lights that they could not access the internet. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting I finally found the rest button and ... I restarted the TP-Links and they would still get red lights that they could not access the internet. After 30 minutes of troubleshooting I finally found the rest button and had to rest them to factory defaults and re-pair them all over again. This was after a week of use. I am definitely not impressed and I have not thrown the box out yet because I still may return them. I don't like that you can only manage them from a smartphone app. When the TP-Link could not access the internet, the app couldn't login so it didn't work. I had to turn off wifi on my phone to login to their servers and then try and access my wifi again to try and find the decos. What a mess. I'm liking these less and less every day. I would be nice if the app had a signal strength indicator so that I could tell if they are working properly. My main TP-Link is downstairs and My MacBook Pro is in the same room with the TP-Link upstairs and I'm still getting reports from Zoom that my internet is unstable. I'm beginning to think these just don't work as advertised. Like the title says, I am not impressed ad may return them.
Very quality product from TP-Link to get wifi at weak spots in your home. Replaced our 5 year old Netgear WiFi extender. Our netgear extender was so obsolete that there was no app available to manage it but it had served us well over the years and decided it was time to upgrade it as the signal was becoming choppy and it couldnt handle the number of devices when having company over. It was super easy to install and they were right! I followed the instructions included but had already read previous reviews with tips and tricks. I just plugged it in next to the router, let it do its thing and downloaded the app which is super simple to use and navigate. Typed in my password to connect to the network and off I went! I originally put it where the old one was, out in the pool house but via the app, it told me that the signal was weak and to relocate it and so I moved it inside, closest to the pool area, ran my signal test and viola! Insta-WiFi! Had it all done and all my devices connected in five minutes. I really like the fact the app tells me how many devices are connected to it.
The TP-Link Deco W2400 Mesh Whole Home Wi-Fi System allows you to have seamless and full home wireless coverage exactly where you need it most. Each unit of this system provides what is called an access point to provide seamless roaming, and the system is designed to provide you with the best and most stable coverage according to where you are in your home. For example, I have fairly good coverage with Fios in this home, but upstairs in the master bath is often where I find my dead spot. I take my iPad all over the house when I am listening to something online, and I occasionally get disconnected from my Wi-Fi or my connectivity will be intermittently interrupted (you know, the spinning circle!). That’s where the Deco system comes in. By placing a second unit in the area where I experience signal interruptions, I can achieve seamless Wi-Fi coverage when I am upstairs getting ready for the day. Guided Installation via the TP-Link App TP-Link has made it incredibly simple to install their whole home Wi-Fi system and even if I feared technology, I would be able to install this. That said, all I did was install the app on my iPad (search for “deco”) and the instructions moved me through the prompts. The entire set-up took approximately 5 minutes. I placed the second unit in my dressing room next to the master bath because this is where I experience signal interruptions. Using the app, I added the second unit, and this set up took approximately 30 seconds. This is probably the fastest, most seamless set-up of any type of system of this kind that I have ever seen. If you do not have an iPad or an iPhone, you can use your Android cellular phone to set this system up. If you are setting your system up via an Android OS (your Android phone or tablet), then search for “tp link deco” on Google play to find the right app. I did not find a way to do this through my laptop using Windows, so it looks like for now, the set-up can only be done through an app using iOS or Android. This works out fine because a cell phone or iPad is more portable for this purpose. Coverage, Features and Updates This particular Deco system with the two units (also known as “nodes”) covers up to 3000 square feet. If your home is larger than that, you may want to consider the system with three units, or you could simply add another Deco unit. The price point is fantastic considering rival systems are considerably more expensive. The TP-Link Deco system provides other features aside from seamless access points, such as parental controls where you can filter content, limit the amount of time spent online, review internet history, and block specific internet websites for children. You can also pair this with Alexa for voice commands if you so choose. When you log into your interface, you can see all of the devices logged into the system and you can create profiles for those devices associated with family members. You can also manually update your Deco units, but this likely isn’t necessary since they push notifications for updates to you through the app. Final Thoughts iPads are notoriously slower when surfing the internet for some reason, and I have an iPad Air, which seems to have picked up some steam since it began using this system. It loads websites faster when I am upstairs, and I don’t get the lag I was getting prior to installing this system. I also noticed that once I installed the app on my Android phone, I received a notification that a new device was on the network, which is very cool. Overall, TP-Link Deco has made it extremely easy to have seamless Wi-Fi coverage anywhere in the home. If you need to amplify your Wi-Fi coverage but feel that you are not technically-inclined, you can rest assured that this company has done the heavy lifting for you. The guided installation process within the app is so simple and the graphics are easy to understand that it is impossible to not get it right. What a fantastic product!!
So far I’m very happy that I decided to purchase these after trying the Google Nest Routers, TP-Link AX1800, and TP-Link AC1900. The Google Nest Routers were expensive and didn’t provide the best speeds. The other 2 TP-Link routers were decent but the range wasn’t the best. I decided to give these a try and my first impressions are they provide great coverage and decent speed. My internet is 100 down/10 up. The main router is providing on average 91 down/9.7 up and the extender is around 71 down/9.7 up. They’re definitely not as fast as the TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 router. But I’d rather have great coverage and good speed at a reasonable price.

TP-LINK unique Adaptive routing technology automatically chooses the best, least congested, and fastest path/band/channel for every device and allows for more flexible placement than a satellite system, as it organizes wifi traffic and keeps your devices running at optimal speeds. Self-Healing feature even reroutes traffic to keep you streaming and gaming, even if one of your Deco units loses power or experiences a disruption. Set up is easy with the TP-Link deco app – just plug in and follow the app instructions! You’ll be up and running in minutes. Even has built in comprehensive Antivirus powered by Trend Micro to protect your personal information and IoT devices (free 3-year subscription). The app and router even allow you to prioritize each device, filter internet content, and pause Wi-Fi (ie: for your children). Parental controls make it easy to keep your children safe while they are surfing online with customizable time limits and filters for each device. Even creates reports for you to review which sites each user is visiting! The TP-Link Deco W2400 is 2 small speaker-shaped devices in an off-white color that will easily blend into any room’s décor. Great for internet speeds up to 500 Mbps and any internet service provider modem. Features a 2 year warranty and free 24hour/7day a week technical support. Even has the ability to pair with Amazon Alexa to control Deco with simple voice commands.
Pros: Very easy to set up. It improves wifi range very significantly. The PLC function is crucial if you want to extend wifi in the main house to an outbuilding. I would advise using the units in ‘Access Point’ mode as opposed to ‘Router Mode’, which is the default if you will install these behind a router. It makes setting things like ‘Port forwarding’ easier for advanced users. Changing these settings is a breeze. Lastly, and most importantly, this is easily scalable by increasing the number of units. Cons: Form factor could be improved as the size makes it stick out too much. It could also benefit if the deco units were slightly weighted for stability. Costs can easily spiral for big properties where more than 2 units are needed.
i bought this setup to broadcast wifi thru my home. it does reach thruout my smaller twin home. but it does not reach anywhere near the speeds it says it does. even with my computer sitting next to it or hard wired directly into it i never get about 90mbps download speeds. but if i hardwire directly to my modem instead i get 650 mbps download. it constantly goes up and down with speeds as well even tho my incoming speeds are well above 90mbps. I've seen it as slow as 10mbps. i don't have any interference on the band its using. it might be good to use as a secondary network for smart home devices but for streaming TV/Movies or live video it won't work great.
