TP Link RE605X AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender

I was looking for a way to extend our wifi coverage to deck, garage, and driveway. This did a great job! I was impressed by the coverage. We have pretty fast internet inside our house and I was doubtful that this would maintain the speed, but we were able to seamlessly stream UHD videos all the way at the edge of our property. The setup was very easy as well, with very clear instructions. My only wish is that it was waterproof. Somehow our house has terrible reception inside with all cell and wifi boosters. This was no exception and we ended up plugging it in just outside our backdoor, which means we have to bring it back inside overnight/after our wifi needs are concluded. I was also pleasantly surprised by the size. It didn't take up a ton of space on our wall - the photo is comparing it to a banana (the closest comparison item I could find) while antennae were fully extended, and it is pretty well sized.

This Wi-Fi extender was very easy and simple to set up. It took us 10-15 minutes to completely set it up, not long at all. We had issues with internet at this house the first year we lived here, up until last year when we finally changed internet providers. Also, make sure you plug it in where you won’t need the other plug because the extender covers the entire outlet, which I was not a fan of. Don’t waste your money

I waited to write a review on this. At first, it was great. Where I’m at in the house, the Wi-Fi struggles and gaming is terrible. This product definitely helped and was great. Then one day it just stopped working. Couldn’t connect to the network and the app wasn’t even able to find the device. Tried resetting the product a couple times and set up would be fine, all 4 LED’s are lit blue, still no connection. Definitely disappointing.

The powerful extender gives me great signal strength in all of my 2600 sq. ft. house including garage and outside. I connected my 2.4G and 5G devices with minimal problems. Great extender for PS5 and upstairs room

I live upstairs in a 2 story house and the router is situated in a Study/Office. I would experience lag all the time playing COD MW2 and it was infuriating.I knew I didn’t have bad service so I thought it was the tv. I have an Amazon Fire tv and considered getting a monitor to stop the lag but I figured I’d truly a cheaper route first so I researched and all leads led me to this Tp-Link device.I set it up. Somewhat easy set up. Then the next day I assigned the PS5 to the ext id and it worked like a charm. I get no more lag and my frame rate seems to match the game to the closest it ability. My kpg went from 15-23 to 30-60 in Shipment.This device is as good as it’s advertised.

No improvement, lacks key feature

I have pretty good coverage with a TP-Link AX1800/Archer AX21 router, but I wanted to improve the signal at a Ring doorbell and in a detached workshop. Basically, the connections and speeds were the same whether the RE605X was running or not, with it installed in multiple locations. A big problem is that it does not extend enough networks. On their website they imply that it does not do guest networks, but to me it appears that it only does two (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz) and you can pick them from any network it can see, if you have the password. Perhaps you could buy two of these and extend four networks, but that's costly, plus it doesn't seem to work well enough to be worthwhile.

Works Significantly Better than Expected for a Great Price

Switched to 500mb down/up ATT fiber from Xfinity 300 mbs down/10-20 mbs up non-fiber. The only place they could install the modem/router was the top floor vs. the middle floor where we had our modem/router previously. Because of this, we were only getting 10mbs and really bad ping in the basement where my office and the main TV is. Because of the security handshake between ATT's router and their modem, you cannot use your own equipment without going through a bunch of shenanigans, so a mesh network was out of the picture. Additionally, ATT charges a monthly fee to rent their extenders which also isnt a great solution.Did some research online and this unit was pretty well recommended so I gave it a shot. Hasn't dropped connection a single time. Our smart tv in the basement holds signal perfectly compared to in and out with our prior ISP.

Works great to convert wireless to wired.

I have two of these as well as WiFi6 router from TP-Link. The main reason I bought these units was to provide wired connections for devices that couldn’t work with the router wirelessly. And it works great!I have also tried the One-Mesh feature, but it didn’t work well for me. Maybe my house just not big enough, but quite often my smartphone would experience problems working over WiFi as I move around the house. Laptops that that don’t move and connected to one of these devices never had issues. But in the end I disabled One-Mesh and turned off rebroadcasting of wireless networks as I can connect to the router from any place anyway.The setup was very easy. Works like a charm. Follow directions to set up.

Performs as expected. Specs are on point. Extends more than sufficiently for my needs, which is through an exterior wall and out to my garage. (About 30-40 feet). When I reach the edge of the range, connection fades as expected. This device has a good reputation, and rightly so. Follow directions when setting it up, and your wifi 6 will be properly extended. I have the extender in almost clear sight of my router, so it is a solid connection.Set it up properly, make sure your wireless access point is compatible, and enjoy a better connection in those hard to reach places. Your not going to get max specs out of this device if your wireless access point doesn't have wifi 6 and your devices don't have it either. :P no fear, all backwards compatible.

Works well once you set it up

I needed this to extend my wifi into the yard and this one got the best reviews. After fighting with the setup a little bit, I was able to get it configured. While it doesn't boost my in-house signal much, (in fact it slowed down a little) but it does a good job with my outside numbers shooting through metal siding. I did end up using the AP function via a powerline wireless connection to get the best results, but it's a nice little unit overall. You may get better results, because I was looking to do something specific which didn't really follow their setup guidelines.
