Bought this bag as a carry-on for a trip to Iceland and Dublin this past fall in 2022. I was shocked at how much this bag fit for a 10-day trip. I did wear my bulky coat and boots on the plane, but everything else fit beautifully! Considering I had to pack for cold and rainy weather in Iceland and Dublin, this bag was a win. It fit into every single overhead bin on every single one of my outbound connecting flights - one domestic and two international. I really do not like to check my bag on the way to any international destination, but I still like to bring lots of toiletries and a variety of clothing options, and this is the best bag I have ever used in terms of fitting everything I wanted to bring. I've used the bag a few more times on local trips in the last few months and it seems to be holding up really well.

I traded in my 5 year old IT bag for the Maxlight thinking it might be a little more durable, while still somewhat light. I got the green color and it looks pretty beat up after 6 weeks on the road. Between the rollaboard and the spinner, feel like the extra space wasn't worth the ordeal of having to pull my luggage behind me. Lesson learned.I feel like the price was pretty fair for what you get and I got it on sale. I would be willing to pay a little more for more ethically made, durable lightweight luggage that will last me 10 years.

I have been buying Travelpro for some time. You can go in two directions: ultra light for convenience or built like a tank for durability. Unless you fly every day, I recommend ultra light. My spouse informs me that I curse less when I have a lighter suitcase. This is an improvement on previous models in that they have removed things that can break. The front zipper is gone. It has only one (not two) netted pouch inside. They removed the garment bag (which bordered on useless). However, they should have left a small loop inside that place so you could bring a hanger. I prefer to bring a button down shirt or a jacket on a hanger and take it directly from my bag. The interior straps do not do a good job of holding in packing cubes. Again, this is a more basic version ... MoreI have been buying Travelpro for some time. You can go in two directions: ultra light for convenience or built like a tank for durability. The Maxlite Medium Check-in Explandable 25” suitcase is very high quality! I am disabled and was easily able to maneuver the suitcase while using my wheelchair. I especially like that the handle has two positions and that it is extremely heavy duty. When pulling the suitcase on two wheels using the fully extended handle, it held strong and did not feel like it would break or bend. Other suitcases I’ve used have cheap flimsy handles that bend when they are extended. This one does not do that as it is extremely high quality! The wheels roll very smoothly and effortlessly, even on carpet. I stuffed this thing full and still had plenty of room. I didn’t have to use the expanded zipper though. I like all of the compartments for putting my small items. The only thing I ... MoreThe Maxlite Medium Check-in Explandable 25” suitcase is very high quality! I used my carryon for the first time and loved it. Previously I had a Samsonite lightweight before and their spinner wheels went wherever they wanted to go but the Travelpro wheels were smooth gliding and went wherever i guided it without much effort. It's also fairly well balanced in that i was able to place a gym size bag on top by hooking the bag's handles over my carryon telescope handle and it didn't tip over. According to Travelpro's website, it indicates this carryon size may not fit in all airline's overhead bins, but it fit great on Southwest Airlines' overhead.I wish there were other dark colors to choose from. Black was the only dark color available because their navy color was sold out. I would have loved a dark purple or dark eggplant color to choose ... Dark colors are important to me to not show dirt. My royal blue color of a previous suitcase looks so dirty now.
These are light indeed - we noticed how easy it was to pick up while still in the box they came in. Just 5.1lbs so it's 2-3lbs lighter than our old ones they replaced when we compared. On int'l trips for 3-4 weeks stays the extra pounds matter. The wheels are medium size and good rubbery feel to them - not just hard plastic like cheaper ones so they should absorb bumps and roll smoother over pavement. Not quite as well made looking at our Crew 11 Spinner Totes which feel and looks a notch above (including the handle). I looked into if these wheels can be upgraded with rollerblades wheels but it doesn't have the width clearance. We bought the rollaboard vs 4 wheels because of cobblestones overseas otherwise would have gone with the 4 wheels instead of easy movement ... We bought the rollaboard vs 4 wheels because of cobblestones overseas otherwise would have gone with the 4 wheels instead of easy movement in airports. My only wish was the bottom grip handle was plastic like they are with the Crew. On these it's just part of the nylon material making an overlap to sneak your fingers into - so it's very seamless and nicely designed actually (at first we didn't even noticed it) but with 50lbs inside I could see it becoming a weak point after a dozen trips by the airport crew. The material overall is nice and water resistance - a nice subtle pattern to them too. Such an upgrade over our old ones and given these are check-in luggages we didn't go with the Crew as we're older now, but if you travel often enough and still young (under 40), I may tell you go with the Crew for more lifetime durability.
I chose this because it was the lightest weight carry-on I could find that still had a decent capacity and could fit my laptop in the outer pocket. It is indeed incredibly light, and the wheels roll beautifully even when the suitcase is fully packed and even on airport carpet. My only complaint -- and this is a big issue -- is that the inside of the suitcase smelled strongly and horribly of chemicals when it arrived. I had to let it sit open outside in the sun and then close it up with a charcoal air filter inside it for a week, then still had to pack my clothes in plastic bags so they wouldn't stink when I got to my destination. Travelpro really needs to do something about this. The first bag I purchased was so bad, I sent it back and ordered another one, hoping ... The second suitcase was a little less stinky, so I kept it, and I'm hoping the smell will totally go away before my next trip. It would also be nice if Travelpro updgraded the interior so that there are better straps and packing compartments.
My spouse needed a new medium-sized suitcase as years of baggage handler misuse finally took its toll. There was no question as to what the replacement would be. I already owned a Travelpro Maxlite 5 25" suitcase for some time and my spouse said, "That's the one I want!" She admired my suitcase's looks, light weight, and durability, and knew that purchasing one for her use was the wisest decision we could make. I agreed! My spouse's detailed inspection complemented our first look - she was overly pleased that, now, she owned the perfect medium-sized, light weight suitcase. Within the month, we put it to the test, packing it and using it on a one-week getaway. It's performance and durability confirmed our earlier observations. Though it received a few marks from "unkind" handling, the marks were easily removed with minimal effort. The suitcase made it through the multistop trip perfectly and continues to look as it did fresh out of the box. We are happy Travelpro customers and travelers.
I shopped on line for weeks and looked at numerous luggage brands. I finally settled on this Max Lite Travelpro spinner and just completed a two week trip to France with this bag where we relocated every 3 days. I was extremely pleased. For my needs, it was the lightest, roomiest international carry on size at the right price. It has a handle to make picking it up easy. I love the dark blue color. It has the TSA lock which is nice but I didn’t use it. Some reviews stated that it can tip easily but in my experience, since I always tend to overfill bags, all of these type of bags will tip over unless propped up against a chair or wall. I hauled this bag on all types of surfaces over the length of our trip, including cobblestone. It has show far shown great mobility ... I bought a different brand in a bigger tote to meet my needs.
I am thrilled with this suitcase, which upgraded my travels immensely! I would highly recommend this bag to anyone, and I think I'll hang up my travel backpack for good.I have traveled with a backpack since way back in the day when I was a younger woman, and I still have an Osprey backpack I've used as my main luggage. The truth is, I'm not that young anymore and my shoulders were always sore from weight, not matter how well constructed the pack was. After 3 weeks of lugging the latest backpack around Ireland for a month, and then another month in Portugal doing the same, I came away really envying the people I saw breezing through the airport, especially, with their roller bags.I travel carry-on only, of course, so I also need as much space as possible. But I'm not always on American carriers, so I needed to make sure this bag would work on most international carriers as well (I'm not sure about discount airlines like Ryan Air, but reviewers seem to have gotten this smallest, 20 inch case through, which is partially why I chose it).I've only taken one trip with it so far, but it far exceeded my expectations. Honestly, this first trip is one that would have been great with a backpack, as it was 2 weeks in Belize, and a tropic vacation meant I didn't need to take much. I debated just going with the backpack, but I'm delighted I didn't. This suitcase did beautifully! It's just slightly lighter than my osprey travel pack, but it also has slightly more packing space, which is super valuable for me--and for this trip, which I packed particularly lightly for, I didn't even need to expand the bag, and on my return, I even had extra space, as I left a couple of things behind. I could easily use this for a month's worth of travel clothes (I'm a light packer). It was easy to lift into the overhead bins, both because the bag is light, but also because the two handles are very well placed, making it easy to lift the bag above my head, and it also is easy to retrieve for the same reason. It was great in the airports--glides well. and it survived a variety of dubious surfaces in Belize, from sandy streets to dubious paving and grass. And it appeared as good as new after being stowed with the other luggage on the little Cessna island hopping flights, and riding in the back of a truck. It's absolutely fabulous and improved my traveling life immensely. Score!
