While I understand that it helps keep the center of gravity low so that the suitcase doesn't become top-heavy when expanded, I would prefer the full expansion. However, with the lower half expansion only, I still would have moved the TSA zipper lock to the top of the suitcase instead of where it currently is...right where the expansion zone begins. It seems that this could place the zippers under undue stress when the suitcase is expanded.

The extendable handle is sturdy, but it takes up a lot of space inside the suitcase. The wheels glide easily on floors and I like that they can be replaced if broken, but on uneven surfaces I have to put the case on its side to prevent it from rolling away. I would suggest maybe adding brakes on at least two of the wheels. The term "expandable" is somewhat misleading. There is a zipper that allows the bottom to expand a bit, but not much. Perhaps some people pack more formal clothes, but I will probably never use the included garment bag-it takes up too much precious space. The zippers seem heavy duty and will hopefully last a long time. The two zippered pockets on the top/lid are too small to be very useful. On a recent trip they were mostly in the way. The nylon fabric exterior seems durable. I got the blue one with brown/tan trim. It looks nice and is more easily identifiable on the luggage carousel. For the price, I'm a bit disappointed.

Instead it broke almost immediately and customer service was terrible. I'm appalled at the experience I got for such an expensive and supposedly high-end and durable product. Under no circumstances would I purchase from Travel Pro again, nor would I recommend their products to anyone.

Good for both business and casual travel
30 January 2023

I bought this to replace an aging Crew 22" rollaboard that served me well. I chose the rollaboard as opposed to a spinner since the spinner wheels sacrifice interior space. All in all I like this bag after using it on an inaugural long haul international trip. The multi-position handle is comfortable and the wheels are smooth. I was able to fit work, casual, and gym clothes for an 8 night trip, without having to expand it. I see others have commented on the handle's bars taking up space inside the bag, but the secret I've found is to roll up socks/underwear and place them in the spaces between/on the sides of the handles. That way you then have a flat surface to place the rest of your clothes. I do wish the suiter was completely removable, but the zippered compartment that remains after you take out the removable piece is still handy for folded items, empty space bags, books, etc. I chose the grey fabric which makes it easier to spot my bag in baggage claim. I'm not using a power bank, but the pocket still serves as a space for smaller items. All in all, I'm happy with this bag and hope to get many years of use out of it.

Great build quality, Not designed for frequent travelers who don’t check luggage
24 October 2023

The build quality is excellent. Especially the handle and wheels. What will keep this from becoming my favorite piece of luggage for air travel is the inefficient use of space. I have luggage with smaller exterior dimensions that can fit more. There are far too many pockets, zippers, and layers of fabric that consume valuable space. I really only need the main compartment and maybe one exterior pocket. I don’t use any of the other 8 pockets the suitcase has, but I have to carry them with me.I always travel with a second bag for my laptop that has all the pockets I need to organize the travel docs and other accessory pieces.Likewise I pack a small day pack to use at my destination. This makes the extension zipper something else I don’t need. If the suitcase is full enough to need the extension opened up, then it doesn’t fit in overhead bins and needs to be checked. If I’m checking it, the day pack becomes my carry on and it frees up space equal to the expansion.

It’s not as big as it sounds.
20 November 2023

Well, it’s beautiful, exudes solid craftsmanship, the spinner wheels are amazing, but what a huge disappointment. The folding zippered compartment might be great for a hanging garment as advertised but it can’t have much bulk to it and it wasn’t clear to me just how one would use it for stowing anything else. The compression straps with the zippered pouches incorporated seem like a clever idea executed poorly. Attaching in the middle of the main compartment instead of the top or the bottom, they either divide the main compartment into two unusably shallow compartments or abandon the zippered pouches for stowing anything that wouldn’t fit in a shirt pocket. The biggest issue, however was size. I was willing to spend more than I was able to afford fifteen years ago ... MoreWell, it’s beautiful, exudes solid craftsmanship, the spinner wheels are amazing, but what a huge disappointment. I was willing to spend more than I was able to afford fifteen years ago in order to get as big suitcase that didn’t weigh as much as the one I bought back then. This suitcase was listed as having nearly identical exterior dimensions, larger interior volume, and weighing 5 1/2 pounds less than my old one. It was immediately apparent your suitcase wasn’t nearly as big, inside or out, and wasn’t at all suitable for the extended business trips I take. Thank goodness Travelpro has a generous return policy because I sent it back right away.

Platinum Elite 21inch

After running through ATL for my next flight and watching many many individuals with spinner luggage, I realized how easy they were able move about, everyone seemed stress free and had no problems with dealing with their luggage and the weight associated with carrying the extra weight. I did a simple search and decided on the Travel Pro Platinum 21inch for many reasons, 1: the awesome spinner wheels, all reviews mentioned they never have trouble with the wheels failing and that’s a huge advantage. 2: the bag itself is beautifully made, excellent material that will last for many years and quite stylish.3: The pop up handle is also a strong selling point, some reviewers have had this model for many years and have not had any problems with the handle. This is one purchase I won’t regret, excellent quality and the ability to move around the many other customers in a crowded airport with such ease makes traveling a joy again. As I’ve aged into my late 60’s carrying a lot a weight through an airport is quite exhausting but this Platinum Elite Spinner bag changes everything. You really can’t go wrong.

I thought I wanted a hard side suitcase but that style opens like a clamshell and I prefer being able to set my suitcase on a luggage rack and open the front flap - especially on trips where I end up living out of my bag. I also like pockets on the interior of my bag, and this one does not disappoint! I checked out some promo videos on the TravelPro website and YouTube and then ordered from LuggagePros at incredible savings! My bag arrived 2-3 faster than estimated, which was a nice surprise. I took my first trip with it recently and am still deciding which items go in the various pockets, but once I have it figured out, packing will be a piece of cake! I love my new suitcase so much that I purchased the matching TravelPro 21" Carry-On Spinner today! Thank you, LuggagePros!

I ordered a TravelPro Platinum Elite 29” Check-In Expandable Spinner and accessories (delineated above) on 20 July 2023. All of the items were delivered by 25 July 2023, in one big box and 5 smaller soft-envelope packages. Although the main box has a couple of labels stating, “Platinum Elite,” inside the box was otherwise. When I went to open the box, I noticed that the strips of tape at both ends of the top of the box were already cut, which caught my attention. As I cut the tape along the center of the top of the box, it appeared to be overlaying a layer of [original] tape. When I pulled back the flaps of the box, there were many problems, as follows:1. The protective plastic bag containing the luggage was down to the sides instead of fully encasing the luggage and sealed. I also noticed dirt smudges on the exterior, indicating the luggage may have been previously used.2. The zipper to the main luggage compartment was unzipped, leaving the cover to flap inside the plastic bag and box.3. The handle was a clear giveaway that the luggage is not a Platinum Elite, despite the “Platinum Elite” tags dangling from the handle. Platinum Elite carry-on luggage handles have double screws and a metal swivel buckle on each side of the sturdy leather handle. The luggage received in this box has only single screws on each side of a sliding handle and the handle itself seems chintzy.Upset, I did not even bother pulling the luggage out of the box nor have I opened the accessory packages received. The possibility of switched and perhaps used luggage being received from the manufacturer did not cross my mind as a possibility. Nonetheless, despite this situation, I was willing to return the incorrect luggage for the Platinum Elite 29” Check-In Expandable Spinner that I ordered. However, frustration and fury set in when I tried report a problem with the PayPal app and when I tried to find a way to contact TravelPro immediately over this matter. Attempting to report a problem with the PayPal app proved frustrating, as the report would reset whenever I left the app to copy/paste explanatory information from my NotePad or when it took too long to manually enter the information. As for TravelPro customer service, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. There is no phone number to call, no chat capability, and there is a note stating that a response will take 3-4 weeks with the online form. Additionally, I found no way to exchange items on the TravelPro web site, as I would have preferred, but only the ability to return items. As a result, I decided to return everything for a full refund and to have nothing more to do with TravelPro as a company. My TravelPro Platinum 30” luggage that served me for the past 30 years, which I was looking to replace because of wear, will have to suffice.
