This is good value for money, some great kit for the money paid. This version of the Sora group set is amazing, can't believe how quiet and smooth it is. A great looking bike which is very versatile whether on road or gravel. Also great service from SS, awesome job by your mechanics. The only downsides are the weight (about 11kgs), could be lighter and the seat post seems to move easily. A solid 4 out of 5.

This is my first road bike and what an excellent purchase to make. I’ve had the bike for a few months and have managed to get out a few times, with each time feeling it fits like a glove. Can’t wait for the ice to go to be able to get out more!! The process from initial consultation, fitting and collection was first class.

Bike is extremely comfortable and the brakes are fully worn in thanks to your advice. My school run a full 10 minutes faster than on my mountain bike and climbs easily doable on the higher ratio in a lower gear. Looking forward to longer rides now that the school holidays have started. Seems very good value for the spec . Now I just need to upgrade my bike maintenance skills to do the bike full justice! Any tips on useful web sites would be welcome. Hopefully the bike will easily see me through our Southport-Manchester- Ashbourne- Birmingham challenge in good style. Also such a lovely area that I am joining my Leicester dwelling daughter(26 yesterday) to do a water fun park and cycling day at Rutland water next Monday. Happy days.

Having just done a 100k charity ride on an AL2 thought it was time to upgrade and took a good look around at both bikes and retailers. Having had a poor experience with a local shop and a high street chain (We don't like the cycle to work scheme/We don't have any stock) I contacted Sigma Sports and spoke to Adam. Could not have been more helpful with great knowledge. Took me through the cycle to work process and arranged a fitting. Picked up the trek AL3 bike and it was prepared to perfection. Over the last few weeks I have done over 500k and the bike is spot on. Handles better than a £1,000 bike should, responsive and a mix of ligher bike, great set up and added enthusiasm has taken me from 13mph to 18 mph over the last 4 weeks. I’ve had this bike around a month now and I’m very happy with it. Very lightweight, runs smoothly and looks great in black & gold too.As for the delivery/service again I’m very happy with this, the bike was securely packaged and arrived in perfect condition.Just about the only thing that’s not perfect for me is that sometimes you can hear the cables rattle inside the frame as they’re routed inside the frame. Not a big problem but might irritate some folks.
Have only just started out riding again and purchased this through Sigma. Great bike so far and the process through Sigma was great, easy delivery and ready to put together. Purchased separate shimano pedals at the same time. Would give this more stars but have only been out on half a dozen rides so far so still getting used to it.
Marketing is a wonderful thing - we're all led to believe we need the best carbon, aerodynamic bikes with Di2 and deep section carbon rims which cost more than a small car in order to enjoy our cycling. I'll be the first to admit that I've fallen foul of this in the past and have been riding such bikes for a number of years! However, as I get older (and more sensible?!) I've come to realise that maybe I've been kidding myself. I certainly don't need these things - I don't race, or take part in fast group rides - sure the bike is quick and nice to look at, but for the type of riding I do, its probably just wasted on me.I needed something which was more suited to how I ride, and after a fair bit of reserach, I decided the AL3 was what I needed. One of the big selling points for me is the massive tyre clearance. My last bike was limited to 28mm tyres, and on the poorly maintained country roads where I ride, I was forever having to avoid all the potholes and ruts which made for an exhausting ride. All I can say is that 32mm tyres are a real eye opener! The ride is so smooth and planted, I now deliberately ride over those rough sections of road simply because I can! Another thing I love is that I can now get off road onto routes which I'd never have dared do on my aero bike - I'm basically exploring new routes which I've been denied access to for many years! I could go wider still, but at the moment I don't feel the need.Much is made of the bike's weight - I won't deny its no lightweight, but amazingly this weight penalty isn't noticable when riding. Sure, it lacks the immediate acceleration of a super stiff carbon rocket, but let me tell you its no slouch either. Once up to speed, it holds it well, cruising at 20mph easily, and touching 30mph doesn't really feel that much harder than on my previous bikes. The shallow drops mean I can also get lower for longer too if I want to.Shimano Sora performs amazingly too - shifts are crisp and immediate, and with the exception of fewer gears I couldn't really tell any difference between them and the Ultergra I've been running. There are a couple of models above this one, but to be honest upgrading to Tiagra or 105 isn't going to increase your enjoyment of riding this bike that much - instead I'd recommend spending the money you'd save on some better wheels such as a pair of Mason X Hunt 4 Season - these, and some lighter, faster rolling tyres will shave almost 1kg off the bike and would give a much more noticeable improvement in the ride.If I had to sum up the Domane I'd say its the kind of bike that encourages you to ride further simply because its so much fun you don't want to stop - that says it all to me!To get this experience from a bike costing just under £1k is nothing short of amazing. I have no regrets whatsoever and would recommend it to anyone in an instant.
Couldn’t ask for a better first road bike! In the past 6 months of owning the Domane AL3 it hasn’t let me down and I would recommend it to anyone starting out. I have upgraded the stock tyres to 28mm GP5000’s as well as the inner tubes to latex inner tubes which really makes the bike roll faster. I will upgrade the wheels in the near future as these are really quite weighty.
This bike wasn’t too expensive but it is sick AF. I’m a novice and I cruise by all like a baller. Men in Lycra? I wizz past their flabby bulges! Land Rovers in Wimbledon? I smoke those fools! Hot babes? I rock their socks! All because my bike isn’t too pricey but looks smart, performs well and came with some excellent customer service.....and I really mean excellent!
Great advice from Ian at Sigma sports. I was looking for a winter / training / kinda gravel bike to keep my carbon race bike out of all the cackGreat that I can swap out the slicks for some gravel style tyres as there’s plenty of space and with disc brakes, little chance of muck clogging up around the fork etc.Only had a couple of rides so far, post bike fit, and as Ian described, the key for me is not to get frustrated as it’s a different beast to the FeltHave to say though very comfortable ride especially on the wider tyre with lower pressures. Really pleased with it. Look forward to knocking out some decent mileage over the coming months.
