Troy Lee Designs A1 MTB Helmet Classic Black Red
Troy Lee Designs A1 - Race Design All Mountain Helmet with MIPS Rotational Brain Protection. The A1s reinforced polycarbonate helmet shell with moulded-in EPS liner extends over the sides and to the back of the head, providing ideal protection in the event of a fall. The MIPS protection system reduces rotational forces to the head in the event of an impact. The adjustable visor is held and regulated by anodised aluminium screws. A three-position adjustable support system allows you to adjust the helmet to your individual fit. Wearing glasses can also be taken into account with this. The one-piece lining is removable and washable. Its antimicrobial, moisture-wicking material guarantees you a dry, comfortable feeling in the helmet, even in hot weather. In addition, when the heat is on, the 8 inlet and 8 outlet openings allow air to flow through the helmet and noticeably cool the head. InMoldingInmolding is a technology for optimising the weight, ventilation and stability of the helmet. The outer shell is bonded to the impact absorbing EPS material during the manufacturing process. MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System)The MIPS fall protection system is a low-friction layer under the helmet padding that reduces the rotational forces transmitted to the brain in an impact. This layer allows the head to move 10-15 mm relative to the helmet in all directions during a fall and redirect energies and forces that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain. MIPS helmets are designed to protect the brain from an angled impact because angled falls create rotational forces that are transmitted to the brain and can lead to brain injury. MIPS can reduce both rotational movement and the risk of brain damage.

My favorite helmet. Fit is super plush. The padding is better than anything else out there.I had one for the last several years. This recent purchase of one to get one with mips , and i figure it was time to replace my old one, came with some new welcome features. The new padding system, while still super comfy, adds more air flow and it's easier to install and clean. The chin strap is a bit longer as well so im not at the very end of the adjustment now.I went for the black one with white "tld" graphic. Super clean looking and it would always be one choice. My old silver flake with black striping is still probably one of the sharpest finishes though. Hard to top that one

Troy Lee Designs A1 is a perfect size for a big head like me, I also have quite a lot of hair in a ponytail and the helmet is a great fit. It looks great and feels good too.The Mips protection on this helmet gives me confidence that I'm well protected wherever I am riding. For the price I couldn't have bought better.I thought the packaging and presentation was fantastic with the addition of some nice Troy Lee decals, a nice touch.

Hi. Like the helmet , comfortable, fit seems to be well made, the major disappointment , are the straps on the side of A1 helmet , exit the helmet to far away from the side of my face . ( yes i bought the right size! ) The A2 & A3 straps are closer to side of the face like how a regular road helmet would fit. Had I known this would have bought the A2 or A3. Also I guess a free gift for registration of helmet only applies to USA customers. Because I haven’t seen a dam thing YET! Thanks for taking the time to read this. Cheers. SR.

I have never before in 30 years of cycling been surprised when placing a new helmet on my head. This was the first time. It instantly felt like pillows gently kissing my bald scalp. The full coverage plastic shell and metal indexed visor tension adjusters are high quality. It fits over my Oakley Gascan sunglasses without any problems. Cambria Bike also shipped it extremely quickly.
I never wear a helmet breaking horses, snowboarding, mountain biking (nothing extreme). However I just recently picked this up got with the times. I have tried on numerous brands. This one really fits my head. It doesn’t sit up to high, I like the look of the side profile. The straps are comfortable easy to adjust. The designs great and it breathes well. I gave it a 4star, because I probably should have tried one size up, to make me feel 100% but didn’t want to miss the sale.
Well, not how I wanted to write this one handed, but the helmet saved my head. With an arm in a sling I write this review:Fitment is fairly true. With some adjustment which is great and love this feature. Second I took a bad impact to the side of my head on the trail Sparkles at Port Gamble in the first berm. Separated my AC joint, but with a hard hit to the head saw stars for about 5 mins. At the bottom of the berm it was packed pretty well like concrete. Helmet did its job very well. If you don't get a full face helm I suggest this one. Enjoy.
After doing a little research on a new helmet I choose this one, and was certainly not disappointed! The quality is exceptional, and has great features like the MIPS. When used I also found the helmet to be comfortable, and kept your head cool with the venting. Also a neat touch was the carry bag! With all of these attributes and the fantastic deal provided by Tresz deal I thought it was amazing value for money..Overall I would highly recommend this helmet.
I've gone too long between helmet replacements! This fit and finish of this helmet is excellent—the way the shell meshes with the foam, the rubberized bits on the straps, the vizor and the padding. The helmet feels really solid, with a lot of coverage—it seems like it is a huge improvement in safety on older mountain biking helmet designs, especially with the MIPS.The one issue I have with the helmet is that it slowly slides down over my eyebrows as I'm riding, pushing my sunglasses down. I need to push it up again maybe every ten minutes. I don't think the helmet is too large (I ordered an XL/XXL, and normally wear a 7 5/8th hat). I've experimented a bit with the adjustable circumference strap, but it becomes uncomfortable when too tight. I think it more has to do ... MoreI've gone too long between helmet replacements! I've experimented a bit with the adjustable circumference strap, but it becomes uncomfortable when too tight. I think it more has to do with the center of gravity of the helmet, that the front is a bit heavier than the back somehow. This could also be related to the fact that I have long hair (which makes the helmet slide around on my head more easily). Anyways, I would love to see TLD resolve this issue. Other than that, it's an awesome helmet.
Great price for a solid helmet. The adjustment system works great for a secure fit. No issues with MIPS squeaking that sometimes gets reported for MIPS helmets. Recently rode a pretty hot day and airflow was adequate, albeit not amazing. Great helmet for the budget minded looking for a comfortable trail helmet.
It fits snug for my fat Asian head, but pretty secure and comfortable once dialed in. It is very light for a lot of behind the head coverage. There are a lot of big vents and I don't have the phallus shape look while wearing it.The visor is not really functional, like on most mtb helmets. The straps lack some adjustment, but are otherwise functional. I'm very happy with the purchase given the price.
