In my opinion, the frozen chocolate covered fruit is way better than the freeze dried. With the freeze dried option, the taste is too artificial to me and I understand why. In order to make a freeze dried product the manufacturer probably needs more preservatives and sweetener to make sure the flavor is encased in the product. In my opinion, it fell short. I wouldn’t buy these again. Also the size of each bite is total different. Towards the bottom I got blueberry sized pieces and sometimes I got pieces the size of a large strawberry. Variable.

Awful - will never buy again

These are nothing like what they should be, and what they look like on the package. There is a TINY little bit of strawberry in the center, a tiny little bit of dark chocolate on the outside, and a HUGE chunk of thick white chocolate that you almost can’t bite through. It tastes terrible. All you can taste is a waxy white chocolate. They are nothing like the raspberry version that has correct ratios (big piece of fruit and very light white and dark chocolate). I will not be buying these again. They were absolutely awful.

DONT. BUY.

I bought this product 2 days ago and I can honestly say I'm EXTREMELY disappointed and distraught. I'm a 38 year old single mother that has 2 kids under 4. Both of them love chocolate and strawberries so I thought that they would absolutely fancy it. Turns out, that this is a choking hazard to young kids. It got stuck in my 2 year old's throat and had to preform the Heimlich maneuver. If you have young kids DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT FEED THEM THIS MONSTROUSITY OF A SNACK. My eldest son broke his crown off after trying to bite into one of these things. I'm a 38 year old mother with a job as a vet, and I get to see this happen to DOGS everyday as a part of my daily life. Seeing my children turn INTO those dogs, is absolutely horrifying. False advertising- Nothing like package photo!!!!

90% candy chocolate coating! If I wanted a candy bar I would've gotten that instead. I've had the newer small bags with the blended up berries and tried the original formula sold at Costco... when I first tried the og formula I ended up giving them away to a coworker because there were barely any strawberries, I had to bite off more than half the candy to get it to a point where I'd like to eat it. In the photo, the coating looks a lot thinner. And when the smaller bags at Target came out, I thought oh maybe they've finally fixed it! Haha nope. It was even worse because the actual berries were nonexistent. TruFru, make the coating thinner- make them like the photo in the front of the bag- and fill the bags with more berries. Charge more, I will buy them esp if ... More90% candy chocolate coating! If I wanted a candy bar I would've gotten that instead. I guess someone must like these. For some reason.

Recently bought what I thought were dark chocolate strawberries on Amazon and got this white chocolate garbage instead. Came to this site specifically to try to find the product I wanted and was deeply disappointed to hear that they were apparently gone forever. Add my voice to the chorus of people that's hopefully big enough to get you folks to undo one of the most customer-unfriendly moves I've ever seen a company make. And spare me the inane copy-pasted paragraph about how great it is to double layer the cheap trash with the real chocolate. Cleansing your palate mid-bite isn't a thing, and even if it was you wouldn't do it with white chocolate.

NOT JUST DARK CHOCOLATE. NOW IS WHITE AND DARK CHOCOLATE.
9 August 2023

tru fru has changed the product--it is no longer just strawberry in dark chocolate, now it's strawberry in a layer of white chocolate and then a layer of dark chocolate. the entries on store websites have not been changed to reflect this (I don't know whether because the manufacturer hasn't told them, as this also happened at another store chain). I am now disappointed in this product, I do not WANT white chocolate. I was happy with the strawberry in dark chocolate alone, it was really good. I would have given it 4 stars if not 5. Also now I can't have this because i'm lactose intolerant and the white chocolate adds whole milk powder. If i wanted white chocolate i'd get white chocolate, and if i wanted a mix of white and dark chocolate i'd get milk chocolate. But I'm especially upset I've wasted my money twice thinking I was buying a just dark chocolate and strawberry item. I assumed at the other store it was the store's error, but now I see it's tru fru not communicating changes, and that's such annoyance.

Not like they used to be.
15 February 2024

I was a die hard Trufru fan until they pulled the plain dark chocolate. I bought them in a subscription, Sams, Target, never skipped a day without eating many of these. My kids were addicted. Had friends and family eating these. Now.... never again. The white chocolate is disgusting. Ruined the entire strawberry flavor and raspberry. Called in to the company when they discontinued the plain dark because I couldn't believe it and was told these white dark combos are a better seller. According to the reviews, I don't believe it. I spent $45 a bag buying the plain dark off of Amazon after these were discontinued.

Responding to canned Customer Service response
30 March 2024

Customer Service - Your response is the same to every customer who doesn't like the changes you have made to the original dark chocolate strawberries. I believe this must be an auto reply and you are not reading responses or listening to your customer base. The "magic of dual immersion" is exactly what I and it appears others do not like. To your response, "The reason it is a better experience is because now you can do a much lighter coating of chocolate; we want you to taste the fruit at the end as powerfully as possible, and the white chocolate serves as a palate cleanser right before you break into the hyper-dried fruit". It has NOT been a "better experience" to myself and others from reading the reviews. IMO, this seems to possibly be a cost saving measure. It has NOT been a "better experience" to myself and others from reading the reviews. IMO, this seems to possibly be a cost saving measure. One of the things that made your product a standout and that I really liked was the quality and quantity of THICK dark chocolate. The taste of the strawberry came through very well and was as a whole delicious! While I can appreciate that it took you almost 5 years to crack the code, why couldn't that be another option in your product line? Why not keep the original dark chocolate strawberries that helped build up your company and for which you have a loyal customer fan base? Introduce your new "dual immersion" as a separate product line, maybe bring in additional customers, and not loose your previous ones - making everyone happy! If sales slump and it proves out that a product is not meeting benchmarks then retire that product. I truly hope this is read by a real live person and not a bot that sends out canned responses. I am hoping that you read the reviews, reconsider, and bring back the original dark chocolate strawberries. I know I would continue to buy them and it seems others would too.

Too much candy chocolate coating
26 June 2024

I was SO excited when I saw this giant bag at Costco! I didn't know they made these and was really excited to try them. The excitement came to a halt when I got home and opened the bag, and saw the huge clumps of candy chocolate. I thought, oh boy... these things are 70% chocolate and like 30% strawberries when I would've hoped for the opposite. I like a thin coating of chocolate, but even my family thought that the chocolate was way too thick. Yuck. America wants healthier options now, and if you're buying TruFru the same is likely true for you too, or maybe not. But TF, you guys need to cut the chocolate in half and just charge more because these are very disappointing, this is true for your entire freeze dried line. And I'm a chocolate addict!

Warning I ordered 4 packs & they are the white & dark chocolate mix.

The container or package clearly shows the dark chocolate coverings ONLY. There is another photo that even clearly shows that further that the inside coating is pure chocolate and dark chocolate at that. WELL I was shipped white and dark chocolate instead. No one in the home is a fan of the white. I ordered 5 of the smaller packs as favors for a small event in a few weeks knowing they were the dark chocolate covered white chocolate outer covered strawberry treat. In part because not everyone loves dark chocolate and the blend dilutes it down a bit for those who prefer milk chocolate over the bitter notes of dark. In part because not everyone loves dark chocolate and the blend dilutes it down a bit for those who prefer milk chocolate over the bitter notes of dark. So I ordered these assured in advance by the title and the photo images both on Targets site they were the double layered delicious dark chocolate covered berries we love. (PS we use as a standard treat after serving poached pears in brandy/vanilla/cream/nutmeg we love here. It gives the right note on your pallet with that desert. So not sure what I'll do with these. I feel returning during this winter storm fest we are having is difficult at best. And sometimes food even unopened sealed food is not up for returns. But I really wanted the full double layered chocolate and no way can I get away serving a diluted form of it and worse it'll be a bit sweeter too because the dark chocolate played perfect to the slight tartness of the fruit notes. I ordered the raspberries for first time too and they are in a second box not here yet. I'll wait to call Target about this problem until I am sure the raspberries are full chocolate too. I thought at first a bag was delayed to the next box when there were 4 but then realized no this is the larger sized packs we like and they are the wrong ones than whats listed on Targets item page. So they get 10 stars rating for the REAL ones shown with double dark chocolate coverings but 2 at best for the white dilution. At the price of these there is no excuse for this kind of mistake. And yes I will return if it's allowed. I would return to the store in person but that's 200 mile round trip drive for our rural location and Kalispell and Libby roads were hit with about 12 inches of fresh snow the past day to two and temps well below zero. We are hitting 12 F today and that's a heat wave believe me. So hubby is 86 and no way are we hitting the roads just to return packs of candy Target made a mistake advertising or substituted. Buy at your own risk or if you do not mind the diluted blend of white under the thinner outside hard coat you've been warned.
