Awesome quality lock. I’ve always had the Master TSA locks for luggage. They never get stuck and doesn’t stop working for years and years. I’ve even had hand-me-downs from a generation ago because Master is a trusted brand. The difference is these are for equipment. The shackles for my luggage are specifically for luggage and the shackles are much thinner than this. This one is great for lockboxes and equipment cases. It’s even good for my toolbox. The diameter of the shackle is the same as those for gym lockers, with extended shackles for those cases with awkward lock closures. The lock on this is so sturdy and is actually quite hefty in weight. And the 4-combination piece is easy to set and use. I’m sure TSA would have no problem opening these. I would NOT use ... MoreAwesome quality lock. I’ve always had the Master TSA locks for luggage. They never get stuck and doesn’t stop working for years and years. I would NOT use this for my usual luggage though. Even if I were to somehow have big enough zipper holes to string the shackles through, the extended length would make it easy for anyone to zip open my bag and slip a hand in. So, I’d only use these for cases, equipment, and stuff – things that are intended to be used with this lock. It’s GREAT for every day use too, like my toolbox.

I'm using this extended reach Master Lock shackle on a Pelican equipment case. It's easy to follow the instructions to set the combination. You unlock it first with the factory setting of 0000, pull up then turn counter clockwise 90 degrees. Push down and turn another 90 degrees so that the hasp is completely open from the locked position. Set the new combination and then turn clockwise to the locked position.I find the ruggedness of this lock to be comparable to the rest of my Pelican case so I expect many years of use. I have several of the smaller versions of this lock on my suitcases and have never once had one break. Sometimes they do go missing as the TSA folks aren't always too keen to replace them after inspections. I don't think that will be a problem ... MoreI'm using this extended reach Master Lock shackle on a Pelican equipment case. It's easy to follow the instructions to set the combination. MASTER LOCK will always be my first choice for locks, combination padlocks, and security products. I chose their 4696D, a Transportation Security Administration-accepted combination padlock to meet our future travel needs. The reasons that made it such an easy, quick pick:- It carries the Travel Sentry logo, recognized by TSA screeners everywhere. It will allow total access to luggage for all airport inspections, anytime. Mine is latched and ready to go.- It has a resettable combination. We chose a simple sequence of 4 numbers so anyone in the family would be able to use the padlock, no worry with keys ever. For backup, we plan to have masterlockvault.com store our details.- The dials are easy to spin and rotate, to slot in and display our combination numbers ... MoreMASTER LOCK will always be my first choice for locks, combination padlocks, and security products. I have received many different products for a Spark review from Walmart. The Master Lock TSA Shackle is one item turning out to be quite hard to do a review on. Mainly because there are not a whole lot of points to make. I will try to describe it as straight forward as possible. It has a one and seven-eighths inch opening to put through what you want to lock together. It is TSA accepted as a safe alternative for luggage that is being checked in an airport. If using this Travel Sentry Approved lock, it allows your luggage to be unlocked and inspected by security authorities without any damage to the lock. With this lock you will not need to be concerned that the lock will be cut off by luggage screeners. I am most impressed with the self-combination resetting option. ... MoreI have received many different products for a Spark review from Walmart. By following the easy instructions, I was able to change the lock combination over and over. It is a level two combination lock for safety. It is also counted as a Tough Under Fire lock. It looks cool and will be a great choice for school or gym lockers. The most difficult and hardest part was getting the package open. I do recommend it as a useful and reasonably priced product. I will be using mine.

You also can change the combination you have preset at anytime you want. So if you give out the combination to someone and you don’t want them to have access again you can just reset it to another combination. It has an extended reach shackle and a flat sleek black design which makes it so much easier for many things, from luggage, laptop case, lockers, tool boxes, bikes anything where you need a shackle with that little extra reach.
Master Lock Padlock 4696D 1-5/16in (35mm) Wide Set Your Own Resettable Numeric Combination TSA-Accepted Luggage Lock with Extended Reach ShackleThe lock came well packaged and undamaged. It had very good instructions enclosed on how to reset the combination. The lock has a nice extended reach shackle that makes it very easy to use on a number of different cases. The lock itself feels nice and heavy. It’s solid and I believe I’ll get many years of good use out of it. For anyone who travels, it’s TSA approved and can be opened by the TSA without damage to the lock. The combinations keys are easy to read and move to open the lock. The combination can be reset anytime you want.I would recommend this lock to anyone.
The Master Lock Padlock 4696D 1-5/16in (35mm) Wide Set Your Own Resettable Numeric Combination TSA-Accepted Luggage Lock with Extended Reach Shackle has some downfalls. The length of the shackle is too long. You can open almost anything that is locked just enough to get in. Far away, it looks like it's solid strong metal, but it is not. Anyone can cut through this lock with a cheap pair of pliers if they wanted to. This is not made for securing traveling luggages in my opinion. The Master Lock Padlock 4696D 1-5/16in (35mm) Wide Set Your Own Resettable Numeric Combination TSA-Accepted Luggage Lock with Extended Reach Shackle has a thicker shank which means that the lock should not be simple to just twist off by thieves. It looks secure on my daughter's Pelican Case. The seahorse shape is pretty cool looking. Because there are 4 numbers there are over 10,000 combinations, a thief will not just stumble across the code. Would I recommend this lock for luggage, NO. Would I recommend this lock for things like toolboxes and trunks, yes.
The Master Lock padlock is a very useful lock to have around. This lock is TSA accepted so you can lock your luggage without being concerned with you luggage being damaged during inspection by the TSA. Since it does not use a key, you don't have to worry about loosing the key. As extra security, you can set and reset your combination without any problems using the instructions included with the lock. The shackle part of the lock is extended more than your normal padlock making it easier to fit into your luggage to secure it. Although this lock is stated to be used on luggage, I can see that it would also be useful in other instances to secure your belongings. The lock is a nice size, being nearly 1 1/2 inches wide. I received this Master Lock Padlock 4696D 1-5/16in (35mm) Wide Set Your Own Resettable Numeric Combination TSA-Accepted Luggage Lock with Extended Reach Shackle product for free through the Walmart Spark Reviewer program. I much prefer that than having my lock cut off or having to open it myself in that sort of situation. The size of it also makes it work well with the different luggage sizes I have so it’s nice I can use it on any one of my bags I need it for! All in all this is a pretty good little lock if you’re looking for one for the purposes of traveling!
