I'm using this extended reach Master Lock shackle on a Pelican equipment case. It's easy to follow the instructions to set the combination. You unlock it first with the factory setting of 0000, pull up then turn counter clockwise 90 degrees. Push down and turn another 90 degrees so that the hasp is completely open from the locked position. Set the new combination and then turn clockwise to the locked position.I find the ruggedness of this lock to be comparable to the rest of my Pelican case so I expect many years of use. I have several of the smaller versions of this lock on my suitcases and have never once had one break. Sometimes they do go missing as the TSA folks aren't always too keen to replace them after inspections.
