I've only recently taken up photography and I bought this lens since it was so inexpensive. I've taken it on a few hikes as well as on a weekend trip to Joshua Tree. I was able to capture a lot of photos that I really liked. The only reason I've taken off a star is that during my Joshua tree trip, I would set my focus and noticed as I was taking photos that I was inadvertently moving the focus ring. This probably isn't much of an issue but I did miss a couple shots because I only noticed the focus change after.

For the money this is a good value.Build quality and components seem above standard (especially at this price).Wish the scale's lettering was engraved instead of just painted on. I would have gladly paid a higher price for that detail. Images are acceptable.As other reviewers have pointed out these lenses are fun and allow us to experiment in many focal lengths without going broke.

I got this lens as an alternative to switching from Canon to Sony. It's a great portrait lens just as the 50mm 1.8 from Canon was. I really enjoy using it with my Sony a7c and its peaking setting to check I've got my focus where I want it.

I very much enjoy this lens and its focal length is perfect for street photography and portrait shots and looks very nice overall on the camera. It is only manual focus though which is the only downer.overall great lens for an affordable price.
This is a really wonderful and compact lens!Optically it's capable of fully resolving my A7RII even to the extreme corners, when shooting at F/8. Very smooth bokeh when shooting wide open, though there is some loss of sharpness shooting wide open.For portrait and closeups, this lens excels! Sharp at typical portrait distances, with a mild vignette and decrease in sharpness out to the edges. Smooth bokeh no matter where you're focused, as well!The biggest downsides with this lens are that the corners have quite a lot of field curvature when focused at infinity, as well as spherical aberration that makes this lens only suitable for landscape photography when stepped down to F/8.For comparison purposes, this lens is not as sharp as some Vintage 50mm lens. It's cheaper than buying some vintage lens, and provides a better image than the majority of them as well! And it's so incredibly compact for the image quality you get from this.
Bought this lens specifically for urban walk around photography. Between this lens the the Fuji 27mm pancake, I can stick my XT1 in my pocket and barely notice I'm lugging around a camera. Certainly not the best prime in that focal length I own, however I can see myself opting to grab it over the larger profile lenses when I'm shooting casually. Wish it had cpu contacts but for the price and size it's forgiven.
This lens is FUN! I didn't buy this expecting to get the best images in the world, I have other lenses for that. This is for fun in an ultra compact size for cheap. And honestly, I didn't expect it to be this good. The build quality and feel on the rings is very pleasant, the bokeh is absolutely beautiful wide open and plenty sharp, and surprisingly sharp edge to edge at f8 for landscape or cityscapes. I can confidently throw this on a small z body while walking around or traveling and have a blast.

The lens is all metal, including the lens cap, so it's built incredibly well. I love the silver, as it matches my Sony A7C; I really wish more lens manufacturers offered silver for a color for FF lenses. I absolutely love the aperture ring and it's very fun to focus with.The only downsides include: sometimes getting vignetting on only the right side of the frame, and you get out of focus, swirly bokeh on the bottom of your frame (sometimes the top if you don't have a high enough shutter speed). But I think that gives this lens character and can be used creatively.Buy this lens. Beautiful, light and tight little lens but use a hood with it. Pointed at or near any highly reflective or direct light source, you get a milky white haze over the entire frame.
I have to say that when you already have a ttartisan 50mm 1.2 in the bag, this made me think a bit, but in vain.now I just have to think carefully about which one I leave in the bag or both. it is on the other hand such a similar yet such a different lens.but for comparison, this f2 lens is really small and fits well with my xt4 camera to shoot different situations .
