I bought the Turtle Beach Recon controller for $40 (after missing a $20 deal) only because i needed a wired controller when the batteries needes ccharging in my other controllers. Its been the favorite controller of everyone for FPS, Madden 24, and Flight Sim. It has two extra buttons underneath (this should be standard for all), sound features, and a helpful app. No issues so far, unlike a pricier controller. Great customer service too, they assisted me because I’m looking for a flight controller. They also informed me of upcoming sales and best entry configuration. TLDR; Best controller for the price and it swings up!

I do like this controller it is pretty good. I leave a 3* for a few things, randomly freaks out, back button quality, left stick quality, and bumper quality. The controller itself is nice having back buttons and alot of custimization with having the volume mixer and mute on the controller, the back buttons are nice and do last a while as long as you don't press too hard. The biggest issue is when the controller freaks out and it does a few things, the worst one is when the audio goes nuts it will blast me with static every so often. Another way the controller messes up is by dissconecting as a wired controller, the wire is fully secure and has no damage so it shouldn't dissconect and this is with the controller updated. One of the big down sides is the left stick wearing out so fast my first one of these lasted about 6 months before the left stick drift was too much and max deadzones did not help anymore. Using the second one of these controllers the left stick wore out in a month, this time I have recallibrated the sticks which did help the drift slightly. Initially the controller is great but it dosn't seem to take long to wear out. I suppose there is the warranty though.

The left stick drifts immediately after opening. I had to recalibrate it in windows.(it didn't fix it all the way either) Which you can't do if you're not using it on PC(in case that needs clarification) - It's an ok controller response and build wise. [Due to my title I should add... I'm 5'8" this controller is comfortable to use, it doesn't feel small like some others.] I've used much better. For $50 it's going to do what it was meant to. I don't need all the bells and whistles attached but I'm sure others find it useful. If you're getting it for your kid they will love it. If you're an adult and can afford a better 1 put in the extra and do so in my opinion. For the game I play this is a 2 star controller. Sorry Turtle Beach.

I bought this controller on a half-off Black Friday deal because I wanted a second controller to use with my laptop so I could keep my primary controller with my Xbox. This is a good controller for the price I paid.First the good:This controller works well for playing Forza Horizon 5. The sticks are both responsive and seem accurate. I mapped the back paddle buttons to control shifting up and down, and that made a big difference but takes some getting used to if coming from the standard Xbox controller. The included USB-C to USB-A cable is long and feels like it's good quality. This is a wired controller, so no need to worry about batteries. You can save 4 different controller profiles, making it easy to switch between games. Now the less than good:Sometimes ... MoreI bought this controller on a half-off Black Friday deal because I wanted a second controller to use with my laptop so I could keep my primary controller with my Xbox. It's not every time, but it's enough to make it annoying in the middle of a game. The locations of the back buttons feel awkward. The process of mapping these buttons seems a little convoluted, and I don't know if I can remember how to change it if I lose the instructions. All in all, a good controller if you can get it cheap.
I’m using this Recon controller with a matching Turtle Beach Recon headset connected via the 3.5mm plug. Although I’m using the Recon headset, the controller works with any compatible 3.5mm headset. Sound is excellent coming through the controller to the headset and sounds just as good as if the headset were connected directly to the console or PC. The controller can adjust headset volume, mic level and also has EQ and Superhuman hearing features which significantly enhance sound quality when active. The Superhuman hearing amplifies overall sound while placing a heavier emphasis on ambient sounds. The EQ works with presets and offers four sound profiles that place emphasis on bass boost, bass and treble boost, vocal boost and signature sound. The others are self-explanatory but signature sound is more neutral and evenly balanced all around. It’s similar to an EQ with everything zeroed. The mic level controls how loud the mic projects the speaker’s voice. Gaming and music both sound terrific and it is nice to have volume and mic controls with visual indicators conveniently available right on the handset. The controller looks and functions almost identically to an Xbox controller. Aside from a few minor visual differences, the only significant functional differences are the addition of the sound features, button mapping options and two additional “quick action” buttons on the bottom of the remote. The quick action buttons are mappable and although they may be useful to some users, I personally find them annoying. I have no use for the buttons but constantly find myself accidentally hitting them due to their location and the way I grip the controller. They aren’t currently mapped on this controller, so they’re not functional at the moment and don’t affect gaming but it’s still annoying because they are practically unavoidable. Quick action button issues aside, the controller has a comfortable ergonomic feel similar to the Xbox controller. The grips, triggers and buttons are a little more textured than the Xbox controller which makes them easier to identify during intense gaming. The buttons and analog sticks have good accuracy and responsiveness. The sensitivity of the right stick can be tweaked through the Pro-Aim Focus feature. The controller rumble/vibration also works well when activated. The only thing that some may consider a con with this controller is that there is no wireless version available at the moment. With the controller wired to the console or PC and the headset wired to the controller, it can get somewhat cumbersome having two cables heading in opposite directions. Thankfully, the cables for both the Recon controller and headphones are lengthy and constructed of durable, tear resistant braided fabric. The detachable USB-C to USB-A controller cable is ten-feet long, which should be adequate length for most stationary usage scenarios. A wired controller may sacrifice some freedom but this particular controller offers added convenience in return. It facilitates headset sound control, mic gain control and on-the-fly button mapping all through the controller rather than being forced to use separate software and hardware for these tasks.
Love this controller! Imo, far superior to all the microsoft brands. Just recieved my series x today, and it seems to communicate a little better than the one s it replaced.Having 3 sons, 8 the oldest, 3 youngest, you have to take some extra precautions to protect your cord(mainly the not hardwired usb c on the controller) usb and usbc arent known to survive long in my house. They always break devices, by dropping them and damaging the female side of the usbc.Only way it could be better imo would be if the usbc were eliminated, and the cord be permanently part of the controller, like all the old consoles.
When i first saw the controller and pulled it out the box it seemed pretty cheap and light, i am used to the heavy xbox controllers, i decided to give it a try and boy was i wrong! I had a hard time mapping the buttons but did a quick tutorial on youtube, its easy. The thumb sticks have a great grip, bump buttons as well and the trigger buttons too! It is a very responsive controller as well, no need to overclock, the controller has a great grip. As soon as i hopped in my first warzone game i noticed a huge difference. This is the best controller i had and will purchase again if i need to, I definitely recomment this controller.
RT button jammed within 2 months, love the functionality of it, love how it feels in the hands. Love that you can remap EVERY button. However the RT button isnt really jammed but it continues, So if youre game requires RT as a turbo like NBA 2k24 does. Then you'll be hitting TURBO the whole time. . . when you home screen it, the menu screen spams to the bottom and you can do anything. Once i ran button check it in the settings menu, it shows the RT button is being pressed and doenst turn off...may i add, i take great care of my controllers. i leave them on a wall hood every night unplugged. Same for the wires are rolled up cleanly. cant remember dropping the controller, so for this to happen so quickly is dis satisfying.Looking for system warranty thru Turtle ... MoreRT button jammed within 2 months, love the functionality of it, love how it feels in the hands. So I’d like to start off with that I normally use the Xbox elite 2 controller which is valued at over 3x the price of The Recon. I plugged the recon in and tuned the setting to my desired settings and totally destroyed my opponents in Warzone. The triggers were hyper responsive, the joysticks had amazing control with just the right amount of give, it fits well, the aim assist is insanely helpful, mic monitoring helps me not wake up the baby, multiple sound settings for games and movies, the button mapping comes in handy. I was honestly looking for a cheaper controller just to turn the Xbox on so I could use keyboard and mouse but the recon worked so well it restored my faith in controllers. The Turtle Beach Recon controller caught my eye mostly for the chat buttons up on top. It's nice having these easily accessible rather than having to jump into any menus on the Xbox itself. The controller itself was feels a little less chuncky on the grips, compared to the official controller, however they have a wonderful grip with it's ergonomic cooling, I was questioning how they would feel but after hours of gameplay between battle royale, action/adventure and other games my palms didn't get sweaty and I've noticed that in the past when using other controllers. Through the long sessions I didn't feel any soreness in my hands, I don't know if they truly are, but they fill ever so slightly thinner and thinking I would be gripping them a little tighter may have ... MoreThe Turtle Beach Recon controller caught my eye mostly for the chat buttons up on top. Through the long sessions I didn't feel any soreness in my hands, I don't know if they truly are, but they fill ever so slightly thinner and thinking I would be gripping them a little tighter may have been an issue. This wasn't the case, the grip was really comfortable and I like how the programmable rear buttons sat directly under my finger. The triggers, bumpers and rear buttons all head a texture to it, they feel like a sturdy plastic, I found this nice for the rear quick action buttons since you can easily find them. The face buttons all felt responsive, I never really had an issue with one getting sticking or not responding. Sticks were great, didn't have any sort of drifting. D-Pad I didn't use much, but any time I needed to swing anything I was hitting the intended direction without error even with it being a circular D-pad.The mic communication buttons are well placed up top on the controller, the volume and chat buttons are easy to reach, as they are closest to where your thumbs rest, the others I look at since the lights indicate your selection but you really only need to select your preset and not think about it again unless you want to change. The Audio has several presets depending on where you want the audio to focus, I typically had the superhuman hearing off, it did make things louder, however it also made me feel like things where closer than they actually are, which can help you react before hand, but made it feel like I was getting flanked in the middle of another firefight. I felt the standard audio while changing the EQ was best personally, but may differ for others. The programmable quick action buttons are pretty awesome, you can configure multiple presets depending on what you're playing, A and B was a preferred for me since I can crouch or jump easily without having to take my hands off the thumbsticks. I did play with the Pro-Aim focus and I did notice a difference in feel when aiming down sight, it's a little hard for me to pinpoint what but I did leave this setting on for sometime. I did however find if you have the Pro-Aim on highest setting and hold the quick-action button behind your right thumb stick it did significantly slow down my turning speed. I had it set to my crouch, so I would hold the button to slide and try to turn around but I would turn very very slowly. I switched crouch to the button behind my left hand and this wasn't an issue anymore, plus you do not run into the same thing when using the face buttons, so something with the quick action back right. Other than that the only thing that was off to me was the position of the change view and menu button, have to reach a little lower with my thumb than I am used to so I would look down for that, but would get used to that over time.Overall the build is great, sturdy controller and braided wire, I'm happy! Definitely going to use this for any controller based PC games while using it for the Series X when my batteries arent' charged. The controller being updated to include the share button is a nice touch! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a wired controller, the audio controls alone through this in front of any other wired controller for me since you get that quick volume adjustment without having to pop in a menu or purchase a stereo adapter for the controller!
