Turtle Wax Scratch Repair & Renew 207ml 50935

My truck had a very large scratch. Using this product took a large unsightly scratch, and made it two small ones. I have a hint about another product by turtle wax that may erase it entirely. I put a quarter size dollop on a folded microfiber towel, applied it with the tips of my fingers, using moderate even pressure. I rubbed back and forth, up and down for 20 seconds, and then finished with circles until the product dried to a haze (30-35 seconds total), and then folded my towel to a clean section to rub it clean. It looked much worse, and I’m very happy with the results. I plan to use Turtlewax Color Magic Jet Black, and see if it gets rid of the scratch entirely.

Used this around a month now and seems to do its job. Bare in mind it'll only repair surface scratch ie the outer layer of paint not any deeper. Apply in circular motion then use another cloth to wipe clean. It's a product you want on the side. Only negative is the viscosity is a little on the thin side so when you open the cap it may spill out if stored standing. Would be much better if the bottle could be stored upright with cap facing upwards so 3 out of 5 rating.

The type of scratch I had (through the clear coat but not to the metal) is, in theory, a good candidate for this type of product. Part of the problem is the two official videos available for help, one on this website and the other on youtube. They are not detailed enough and both videos I saw (laughably) fail to show the treated area up-close angle after the treatment. The steps outlined in the videos are correct and you must do all of them, however, more detail is needed.Applying the resin to a scratch is not easy. I recommend applying as lightly as possible (hard to do if working on the side and dealing with gravity) and then wiping off very lightly and gently with a rag so as to remove all but what is in the scratch itself. This technique is used by wood workers to fill and stain scratches on wood. The resin is sticky so you must be careful wiping. Without doing that, I was left with a resin line that looked just like what the videos show however I was unable to wet sand it flush. I even had to use the #1 paper, which the instructions claim is for scratches that involve touch up paint. After a lot of sanding, I got the filled scratch as flush as possible but could not get it perfectly flush. I then polished relentlessly for about 10 minutes to get the haze to (mostly) go away. The area is acceptable but not unnoticeable. My guess is that with practice, one could get the hang of it. But for most people who do not do this every day and will not do it again (hopefully) for a while, it is tricky work.
