I've got this camera showing up in Apple Home with motion detection notifications. You'll need Homebridge, the Unifi Protect Plugin for Homebrdige, and Unifi Protect app running on a compatible device eg UCK-G2-Plus (Unifi Cloudkey Gen 2). If you don't want to use the Unifi Protect app, you can configure the camera to broadcast the rtsp stream and hook it up to any compatible software that takes rtsp feeds. If you've bought into the Unifi products it's a good camera but if you don't want all the other bits, maybe try another product. What I like about Unifi is you're not storing your recordings in the cloud and paying a monthly fee. Instead you can access your cameras and recordings direct from anywhere using the Unifi Protect application.

Bought one of these as a tester for a Unifi protect system, planning to replace three cameras on a Synology system. This was the cheapest option I could test. Worked well. Unifi found it, software was initiative, managed to mount it and replace the camera at the entrance of the house, good clear field of view, detections are working well, android app works OK. Id say it was more for an indoor installation but the front door is covered so we'll see how it goes. Getting the RJ45 cable inserted with the bracket attachment was painful, the wire needs to bend at 45 degrees, and i had to take a knife to the cable to trim the flex part to enable a fit.

I have two of these cameras entirely exposed to the weather with the professional wall mount, and have been running without any issues for close to two years now. Clear, crisp image and microphone is able to hear talking from ages away. Occasionally I need to clean the lens to get off some water spots, but otherwise works flawlessly. Used in conjunction with Cloud Key Gen 2 Plus.

Buy for ease of connection, not for video quality
24 March 2023

The G3-Flex is an adequate camera, though in 2023 there are a significant number of cameras with great quality that are far cheaper. The only reason to buy a Unifi Camera is for the convenience of adding it to an existing Unifi video security system. If I were starting again, I would likely try Synology as a storage medium and almost any common make of camera that provided 4K for a fraction of the price offerings of Ubiquiti. The physical size did suit my needs, as a hole can be drilled in the eaves soffit, to allow it to be only exposed as much as needed (most discrete arrangement available).

Definitely the best Prosumer and Small Business managed PoE switch you can get today!
18 July 2018

Ubiquity make some brilliant PoE switches (in fact, switches in general). This particular unit supplies up to 250 watts worth of 48V PoE goodness over 24 gigabit ports and also provides two gigabit SPF ports (no PoE). Note that this switch does NOT have SPF+ ports (for 10Gb connections, only the 48-port switches have that, but there's no reason why you can't bond a bunch of ports together via the Unifi controller to move more data if you have to). The switch is almost double the weight of the non-PoE version of this switch and about 100mm deeper as well, but beyond that looks and feels the same, though the rack ears are built-in while the non-PoE version has them optionally screwed on. The switch is almost double the weight of the non-PoE version of this switch and about 100mm deeper as well, but beyond that looks and feels the same, though the rack ears are built-in while the non-PoE version has them optionally screwed on. The noise level is similar to the non-PoE version despite having extra fans, and whilst startup is a little noisy, it quickly settles down after boot. The display is quite simple - the ubiquitous blue square which tells you when it's happy, upgrading, or being located, the ports use the two LED's to indicate PoE active and connection speed, and the two SPF ports just have connection speed LED's. The back of the unit has an RJ45 console port and a standard IEC power connection for 110-240V operation. Adopting the switch into your Unifi controller is a snap as you'd expect, and the Unifi controller shows the per-port and total power consumption of the unit. PoE itself works as you'd expect, happily running the Ubiquity range of Unifi PoE access points and PoE security cameras without breaking a sweat. The switch also has the ability to power Ubiquity's proprietary 24V PoE devices as well as the industry standard 48V devices. In general data transfer, I have not experienced any sluggishness with this switch. It's fast, it's snappy and it looks cool to boot. In general management, assigning VLANs to ports is a snap via the Unifi controller. Provisioning changes is fast and simple. This is an enterprise grade switch without the enterprise grade price tag and I highly recommend it.

Great (enterprise switch) for a home network
13 June 2017

We use the Ubiquiti equipment at work (mainly the access points) and have been very impressed with how they are built and their reliability. We have a couple hundred access points in service now for three years, only one died and was replaced under warranty. We decided to try one of their 48port switches at a remote site, again, no problems and very easy to administer. So I needed a switch at home that I could set up vlans on and has POE+. Just a few months ago I purchase a UAP-HD access point. With that I set up a controller on an old pc in the basement. Since I had had the controller, setting up the 16 port switch was a breeze. I mounted it, plugged it in to power and the other switch I had. By the time I got upstairs, the controller already found the new switch. ... MoreWe use the Ubiquiti equipment at work (mainly the access points) and have been very impressed with how they are built and their reliability. I mounted it, plugged it in to power and the other switch I had. By the time I got upstairs, the controller already found the new switch. I adopted it and upgraded the firmware. It took longer to unbox and mount it than it did to set it up. It has a couple of fans in it, but they have yet to "ramp up", so no noise. If you have a spare PC laying around, great, good to go. Otherwise you will need to purchase a cloud key. The controller software is free. The same PC I run the controller on is the one I run the Ubiquity camera software on. I have both connected to the could so now I can configure/adjust my network from anywhere and view live video as well. Its enterprise level equipment, so you pay a little more than consumer, but it is in reach of a homeowners budget. I highly recommend it.

Great addition to the Ubnt product line
21 December 2018

I have installed Ubiquiti cams and NVRs since they were first introduced and this Generation 3 addition follows a steady improvement to the line. I have two of them under soak testing for past three weeks and Im very pleased. The video quality is very good and the night vision IR as well. It provides numerous mounting options and is very easy to aim/point. It is advertised as an indoor/outdoor cam with precaution of non-direct rain and from the construction I would agree that if placed under the eve of a structure it should be ok. The IR night vision is good for a larger indoor room and for outdoor I would use it for up to 15/20 foot distance. Of course you get this for under $80 which is an additional reason for my rating.

Great value
16 July 2019

I needed a second camera to compliment an existing G3 AF. The position where my AF was installed is well sheltered so I moved that to my second location and replaced it with the G3 Flex.First thing I noticed is how much wider the angle of the Flex is, but also far superior image quality. It's even more apparent in low light - the Flex has much higher sensitivity to ambient IR light (very noticeable at dawn/dusk) and the generally just better night mode.Really the only drawbacks of the flex are:- the lack of true weatherproofing (when compared to the others in the range)- The mounting angle - when outdoors it needs to be upright and the lens can only pivot down so much. For any situation where those aren't a problem, the value of the flex is amazing. For me this worked out fine, since the wider angle more than compensated for the vertical angle lost.

Quality switch, foundation for a quality network
12 December 2020

This switch is a quality foundation for a fast home network. Paired with a cloud key controller and UniFi access points it is a great way to build a solid, fast and smart network at home or in small office. Uniti WiFI allows for very fast wifi with multiple access points across your property to give great seamless coverage. I took off one star as the unit gets quite warm even if not running PoE devices. I suspect this is because of the integrated power supply. I would rather this use a plug pack to keep the heat out of the comma panel. Great unit and system!

Solid Build, Wide Angle, Great Picture, Easy to Use
17 November 2018

We already have about 12 Ubiquiti cameras in place which we use for surveillance in an athletic facility. This was the first of this model that we have purchased. Out of the box, the first thing we noticed was the solid, quality build of this camera. It has pole and ceiling mount options which is nice. The camera connected immediately to our existing network and was easy to name and manage. Like other Ubiquiti cameras, the picture quality is very good. We placed this one about ten feet high at the end of a full sized ice rink, and - except for the corners to the far left and right - can see the entire ice surface very well. We plan to purchase more of these to cover smaller rooms and spaces as the price is right, installation is easy and the 87 degree view provides ... MoreWe already have about 12 Ubiquiti cameras in place which we use for surveillance in an athletic facility.
