Ubiquiti UVC-G4-PRO UniFi Infrared IR 4K Video Camera

I have three of these cameras purchased from PB Tech. Easy to setup and mount. Good software etc. There is a problem with this batch but may now be fixed with newer batches. The problem is they get moisture on the inside of the lens when you first boot them up . Google for more info on this. Possible caused by fully sealed packaging and no silica gel, etc. .I found that if you plug them in prior to mounting them (e.g. on a bench) without the mount screwed on and leave them on for about 48hours with the lens facing down on a cloth (to protect the lens) . A couple got fairly warm when I did this but I think this was due to them downloading the latest firmware and installing it, I rebooted them afterwards. This is a significant improvement over the G3-PRO - the infrared seems to have better range, and the 4K resolutions gives an instant boost in picture quality. The car and persons detections are nice too. It is great that it fits the same fittings as the G3-PRO - making it trivial to swap out a G3-PRO for a G4-PRO. The star off is for the price of the camera.

2nd Purchase!

This was my 2nd purchase from B&H for this model! I highly recommend it if you need to capture some clear detail. The night vision is better compared to other brands, but could improve it. You have the flexibility to adjust the settings in the Unifi Protect application. There is a condensation issue when the camera is first powered on in temperatures below 50 degrees. After leaving it running for several hours, it goes away. If it does not, contact Ubiquiti support. Fast shipping with B&H and processing time was rapid!

Amazing Quality and features!

I have been doing security camera installations for 8 years now and have used Samsung enterprise cameras, Google Nest and Ring cameras. I installed the G4 Pro for few clients in different locations. No issues at all. The condensation build folks have mentioned is caused when the camera is hit by rain. If you install the camera in a good location (with a good angle without obstructing the view) you should not see the condensation issue occur. Of the 16 I have deployed on poles and roofs, only 1 had this issue and once I changed the placement and angle it worked fine in heavy rain.

Condensation issues inside lens, no Support

If you go to Ubiquiti's community forums, you'll see many users complain about sudden condensation issues inside the lens of this camera. I developed the same issue about 6 months after purchase. I submitted an RMA ticket at Ubiquiti's website. Received automated email confirmation stating that the issue will be handled by the reseller (B&H) and that if I don't hear back in 2 business days, I could escalate to Ubiquiti. It's been more than 2 days, and no response from Ubiquiti and no way to escalate. Terrible product support (and design flaw) for such an expensive product!

Good quality but high price

I got this to replace/subtitle a working G4 camera (non-4k) and my main reason was to get a wider viewing angle from my constrained mounting location and that worked well. The 4k quality is great even though that is not my main reason/need. The zoom quality is good but limited utility (lack of automated zoom). Thus, the overall value ratio is low... this is too expensive for what it is these days. Side note, I also was impacted by the the lens fog that many have reported on the pro that I have not had issue with the G4. Good news is that within 24 hrs, it did clear up on its own.

Great Camera

This is a great 4K camera. I'm very pleased with installing them. I wish it had an option to turn on the IR LED's with motion instead of it being continuously on. The LED's are powerful, but they attract bugs which causes spiders to build webs on the camera. Have to clean it off every now and then. This, of course, is not limited to Ubiquiti. Any IR LED will attract bugs and thus spiders particularly if they're continuously on.

Great camera, getting it tilted correctly was difficult

Once I got this camera up it has been awesome! However, I had a lot of issues getting the camera to tilt the way I wanted it. I actually even stripped the metal locking mechanism slightly because I could not get the camera screwed into the pivoting base. Overall great camera once you have it in the position you want.

This camera is AMAZING!

This is the fourth G4 Pro I've installed at my home. I also have a G3 Pro and an older G3 with LED ring. There are several reviews out there on this camera, so I'm going to focus on why I appreciate it and plan to move exclusively to it over time. However, upon installation of this camera I no longer had a need. Lastly, and I know it's gimmicky but believe me the rotation blue light ring get's peoples attention. Until now, it's been family, friends and colleagues who have noticed. But I suspect this feature would also potentially deter a bad person from trying to break into our house. Bonus benefit. I suspect this camera with it's advanced features will remain relevant for some time. I hesitate to say future proof, but I suspect I will not be climbing a ladder for a few years to replace these.

The G4-Pro Camera is great, easy features to focus, 3x Optical zoom and then 4x digital zoom. The built in microphone is a great feature for no additional wiring etc all part of PoE connection. If you want to get the most from this Camera add UDM-PRO that has built in NVR.
