I am SO happy this is run by a spring and not rubber bands! It's a great build with a little challenge to it. Like a real fish tank, I can watch it run for a while :)My suggestion to people building this, if you test it out along the way, and it doesn't seem to run properly, keep testing it. The gears need several test runs to mesh properly. I would run it and when the fish get "stuck" just give them a nudge. I tested the mechanism several times during the build, once pieces were stabilized, I'd test. It runs perfectly and the spring totally winds down.

This was my 2nd project of Ugears, They are just so visually stunning. I can not stress enough the importance of sanding the gears smooth & adding a lot of wax and testing. Once completed my fish would not swim without assistance but I now know through trial & error it was the waxing & sanding of the gears that was causing lock ups. I just LOVE this one & everyone notices it when they come in my room!

overpriced, extremely difficult to construct, fragile, directions inadequate, rubber bands for moving parts
Excellent quality of the parts and instructions. Take your time building it and it will come out great. I built mine as a wedding present.

A challenging, yet achievable kit. Great for a gift
Kits are getting better everyday. Pieces easier to get out of spurs, minimal breakage, fitting together better, etc. Still need to be fussy about lubricating as this item moves many parts at the same time and even one little hang-up can cause a binding effect. All in all a very good kit to build and a good jewelry/valuables box.
