I do a lot of projects with Raspberry Pi computers and use this reader to write new operating systems to their SD cards and it saves me so much time over my old 2.0 one. I wouldn't mind if it had a longer cord though. I use it on a desktop PC and my USB 3.0 ports are on the back and mounting this on the side of the case with double-sided tape and plugging it in the back would be great for my setup. With the short cord it puts the reader out of reach though. I have to leave it freely hanging off the back of my PC when I use it because my USB 3.0 ports are high up on the back of my computer and with the short cable it can't even reach my desk to rest safely on there. I bought this product because I wanted to be able to easily transfer my music library from I tunes to my android phone. So far I am very impressed.I plugged the SD card reader into my Imac ( Running the latest version of Yosemite as it's OS). Then I popped a 120GB scan disk micro SD card into the reader. There was no installation process and no searching for the card necessary. An untitled drive popped up in my finder and it was as simple as dragging and dropping files. I named a folder music on the SD card and dropped my entire I tunes library onto it. It's OK about an hour and a 1/2 to copy the files ( Roughly 86 gigs worth). You know that it's a nightmare trying to get files from one to the other. This has made that process incredibly easy.Sense copying my music library, I have used the SD card reader to transfer files 2 more times And have still not had any problems. I have only used the SD card reader a grand total of 3 times so far. So I cannot speak to the longevity of the device. But as it stands right now, I love it and I hope to get a lot of use out of it.

It worked seamlessly and so easy transferring photos off my Nokia Lumia 1520 phone to my computer. Now that my important photos are off my phone and into the computer, I'll try the Micro SD slot in this later and see if mine is tight fitting as well.

I bought this for a 2 week trip to Europe where I wanted to be able to quickly transfer photos from my camera's SD cards to my iPad Pro (2017 10.5-inch, model A1701).To get things to work correctly, you must have the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter plugged into the iPad and the iPad charger plugged into the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter first. Then plug SD card reader into the USB port of the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. Finally plug the SD card into the reader. You may have to unplug and replug the SD card reader into the USB port a couple of times before the SD card will show up in the iPad's File application or in the Photos application. Once the SD card showed up in the Files App, I was able to select and copy the files to the iPad with pretty good speeds. I didn't try importing any photos directly into the Photos app. With my other non-USB 3 SD card readers, it would take a very long time for the iPad to just list the files on the SD card (had over 500 images on the card in my test) and bring up the thumbnail images. With this USB 3.0 SD card reader, the list of files and thumbnails came up in an acceptable amount of time.I was also able to use this set up with my iPhone Xs Max too.The reader also worked fine when connected to my iMac and gave good read speeds overall - at least I thought so versus my USB 2.0 SD card reader.

I built my own PC so it didn't have an sd card reader as there wasn't one on the case I bought. Ibought this because I needed a way to use SD cards with my desktop for 3d printers and video cameras without having to grab my laptop all the time. I bought 3 different cars readers before this one and they all either didn't work out of the box or failed within a month of regular use. I've been using this card reader every single day for over a year now. It still works like brand new. I would definitely recommend buying this over any other card reader, as well as a USB extension cable if you want the choice of where to place it rather than having it dangle. I have mine double sided taped to the underside of my desk.

The ad said "SD card" so I bought it to use with my phone and table SD cards. When I opened the product it only had two slots. A "TF" slot whatever that is, and an SD slot. Meaning a big giant 1960's style SD card slot that is about 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch big. So if you think you are going to use a phone or table SD card which are mini or micro SD cards, you are not unless you have an adapter. I bought this device primarily to transfer files to and from a micro SD card and am disappointed with how this operates. Since this device doesn't have the ability to eject the micro SD card I had to use a bit of force to try to pull it out. I am sure the card is sturdier than it appears, but it was stressful and I was worried about damaging it. This is not a process that i would feel comfortable doing very frequently. I found that if I put the micro SD card into an adapter and used the SD slot that it was much easier to use. For SD cards/adapter use I say this works well. If buying just to use the micro SD slot I would say try a different product.

I have a 2021 Tesla Model 3 with a USP port in the glovebox for the sentry mode/dash cam feature. It came with a 128GB USB thumb drive, which I believe is a Samsung. Nothing special, except it keeps disconnecting every few days. I read that many microUSB cards with a card reader are designed for more extreme use, such as temperature extremes, higher rewrites, etc, so I bought one, SanDisk 128GB MAX Endurance microSDXC Card. While looking at readers, I decided to try one that would read two cards, and put music on the other one. This one advertised that it could use both simultaneously, and it does. Also, having a cable is a good safety measure, I think, because if it overheats somehow, it won't be likely to destroy the Tesla port, which is much harder to replace ... MoreI have a 2021 Tesla Model 3 with a USP port in the glovebox for the sentry mode/dash cam feature. No album covers displayed, just a list of artists, albums, songs, or genres. So, you might want to make sure the ID3 tags are in good shape - I've been using MusicBrainz Picard to clean up the tags, which works quite well once you get the hang of it.

The big question I was wondering before purchasing: Is this SD Card Reader actually USB 3.0? Will it be faster than USB 2.0? The answer is YES.TEST SETUP: Transferring JPG and CR3 (photo files) from SD Card (SanDisk Extreme Pro 64 GB SDXC rated at 170 MB/s) to Solid State Hard Drive (Western Digital PC SN730 NVMe SSD rated at 2100 MB/s write)RESULTS: With the UGREEN SD Card Reader USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader I consistently achieved 86-88 MB/s transfer speed. With a standard plug-in USB 2.0 SD Card Reader, transfer speeds were consistently 15-16 MB/s.Therefore, this UGREEN USB 3.0 reader was about 5-6x faster than a generic USB 2.0 reader.
