True to the barrel color. Wish it were more deeper in color. Been having a hard time finding the perfect red gel pen, so when I need a red I use either the Paper Mate felt tip, Marvy Le Pen plastic tip, or the Uni-ball Signo Broad. I was pleasantly surprised when I put this pen to paper. My favorite point size has always been 0.7 mm, so I was stunned to discover that I actually enjoy writing with a 0.38, especially on smooth, good quality paper. The clip rattles when the tip is extended. Doesn't bother me much but might for others. I'm satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this pen in this point size.

I'm right-handed and hold the pen low (closer to the tip) using with a lateral tripod grip, so the body of this pen works well for me. It has a satisfying click too. However, the tip itself is quite scratchy compared to other Signos like the UM-151. The major benefit of this pen is that you can easily swap in alternative refills (Sarasa, Jetstream, or EnerGel).

I love how the grip section goes right down to the tip, my grip tends to be very far down and this pen is comfortable there. This has become my most-used pen, with a Jetstream cartridge installed. Super basic but you can't go wrong with it. The deep-carry style clip is also nice, so there's very little pen sticking out of any pocket or pen loop it's in.

The Uni-ball Signo RT1 is an excellent gel pen, which replaced previous RT. I have difficult time understanding why Uni-ball offers two almost identical models, the other one being Signo 307 (which replaced model 207). Both RT1 and 307 are pigment water based gel pens offering acid-free and fade resistant inks archival quality inks. Both RT1 and 307 are similarly priced, however the 307 ink formulation is slightly different as it includes cellulose nanofiber. In practical use however I could see no difference - both pens are skip free, do not railroad (as is expected for a good 0.5mm gel ink pen), and both lay down on paper beautiful, deep black lines. There is very slight smudging of fresh letters, so depending on speed of writing and pen holding technique they may ... MoreThe Uni-ball Signo RT1 is an excellent gel pen, which replaced previous RT. There is very slight smudging of fresh letters, so depending on speed of writing and pen holding technique they may not be the best choice for left handed use. However after a few seconds the letters are completely touch, water and most other liquids resistant. Both RT1 and 307 refills are mechanically identical, so one can mix and match. The body of the RT1 is a bit translucent, so when you place it against a strong light source you can see how much ink is left. The cone, body and the clip are all plastic, making the pen light. The bottom part of the pen is made from rubber-like material which is comfortable to hold - not too soft, not too hard, and does not attract the dust or dirt. The clip however is not the best design: it is all plastic, does not look to be very strong, so if you want to keep the pen securely in your pocket look for a stronger clip design (like Zebra Sarasa or Pilot Juice series with proper metal springs). When you extend the refill to write the mechanism rattles if you shake the pen (but not when you write) - this normal with most (but not all) pens. The RT1 refill has what Uni-ball calls “the edgeless rounded tip” - maybe not completely edgeless, but it reduces friction against the paper a bit. Depending on paper used (try Rhodia) it provides some feedback, without being excessively scratchy. It comes with 0.28mm, 0.38mm and 0.5mm (as far as I know no 0.7mm) and in different ink/body colours. I find 0.5mm to be “just right”. The range of colours is not as extensive as some other lines and brands, but pretty good nevertheless.
I bought the Black in the 0.28 and 0.38 mm tips after trying the 0.5 mm one, which laid down too much ink for my writing style. These smaller tips were perfect for smaller spaces; even if they are tiny, they both have vibrant and rich ink that looks black, not grey. The tips are not scratchy, but I do feel the texture of the paper under them; if I write with smooth paper, the pens are very smooth. They are comfortable to hold, and I like the click mechanism. I find the 0.38 mm RT1 smoother than the same-sized Signo DX. Sometimes, I write with these pens on larger ruling just because I like them so much, even if there’s need to go that thin. Even so, the text remains readable and doesn’t look like a spider’s web!
I love my Uni-ball Signo RT1 UMN-155 Gel Pen! I bought it as a test to see if I would like it. I really didn't think I would (in fact I kept deleting it from my cart and adding it back until I finally decided to just give in and try it), but it turns out to now be one of my favorite pens! I love the way it feels in my hand as I write. The ink flows smoothly. The rubber grip is comfortable. And I love the ease of clicking to extend/retract the tip. This pen is definitely on my list to buy again!
This was the first Uni-ball pen I've ever tried and I was amazed by how good it was! If only I'd known sooner, I would have bought so many Uni-ball pens by now.The pen writes very smooth and the grip has a velvety feel to it and is very comfortable. It also writes pretty wet compared to other gel pens I use which is an added bonus for me. The only downside to this pen is that it seems to smear a little bit even after it's dried - or maybe it just takes a really long time for it to completely dry. I haven't tried it on a lot of different papers but on Mnemosyne paper, it does smear if you rub on it after it looks like it's totally dry. I tested my Pilot G2 , Pilot Juice and a Uni-ball Signo DX (which I also got in the same order) and none of those pens had the same ... Realistically, my rating is a 4.5 but I'm rounding up because of how impressed I was with the feel of the pen.
This is my favorite pen for note taking. This is the pen I won't lend to anyone because I like it that much. It writes with a fine line that is perfect for my small planner. I tend to sketch and doodle with it as well and the stroke is always predictable and nicely pigmented. The retraction has a nice satisfying click and a slightly rubbery grip that I like.
I was after a fine liner and came across this. It's precise and fine with the 0.38mm. I am amazed at how smooth it feels while writing. Some fine nibs tend to be a bit scatchy, this however feels like a dream. Availability is an issue always having to place order online. Office works click and collect service is pretty good, so no issue there.
I have gone through so many of these pens because they are so amazing and I cant put them down!! I have a black one, blue one, green one and about 5 of these purple ones because I love them so much. The violet colour is the perfect purple and all of these pens are so smooth, have such clean lines, are quick drying, are precise (anything bigger than the 0.5mm I feel gets too big), are ergonomic and just so perfect. They are also really affordable! They don't last quite as long as I would prefer (in my opinion) but are easily the best pens I've ever used! Highly recommend!
