Looks and feels like a solid piece of kit. Since I had it programmed by radioworld I could use it straight out of the box. Comprehensive menu system with lots of storage space for frequencies. Handy power choices with 3 options, wide band coverage. Comes with power supply and connection usb cable, for charging and computer connection. (Needs software).Batteries supplied, just pop them in and turn on.I need some time to learn the system as I only received the scanner today.I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Radioworld for their great service, continued communications throughout the transaction, item very well packaged and speedy delivery. All good thank you Radioworld.

Had the UBC 3500 XLT previously, and couldn't make head not tail of it - SO complicated to use. This scanner is a lot easier to work it out - only had it 5 days. I know scanners are not the easiest things to master, but getting the hang of this one...Radioworld is a fantastic shop for expertise, friendliness and price. So happy that I found this place and Andy was friendly and pointed me in the right direction.Thank you one and all...

My first scanner so I have nothing to compare to. Scanners by nature are quite complex. Comes with a manual written in good English but I resorted to online videos to help me get to grips with it. Have subsequently ordered a new aerial as I only use it for air-band and the general purpose aerial that comes with it can be improved on. It's a sturdy little radio.

Fantastic Scanner, works perfectly for Airband scanning. Definitely recommend getting an upgraded antenna as this seriously improves the scanning performance. Really easy to use compared with other similar scanners. If Airband scanning is your thing I would definitely recommend this product. Great service from Radioworld UK.
This radio is a good wide-band scanner, nice and compact, solidly made and has a good 'feel' to it. The 2 AA battery power source is a tiny bit problematic: best take spare batteries if you are going to an airshow or whatever. A toggle switch in the battery compartment allows switching between dry-cells and rechargeables. As an airband enthusiast I find the unit a tad wanting but I have been spoilt with the MVT 225 in the past and lately, the GRE 295. This scanner is not as good as the GRE 295 in terms of sensitivity and audio quality because the latter radios were purpose built for airband and marine. Don't be put off buying though as the unit is not far behind the GRE 295. Programming is tricky but I like finding my around with this sort of equipment. As per ... Programming is tricky but I like finding my around with this sort of equipment. As per software, you do not need it to operate and enjoy the unit. One small annoyance is the Delay function which is 'global' and cannot be applied individually to each stored channel as with the GRE 295 via a toggle button.Yes, the aerial is a little 'deaf' but if you were at an airport or airshow this shouldn't matter due to local signal strength.Cheers and good listening!
Love the radio and it takes an hour or so with the manual. Had mine preprogrammed with frequencies based on my postcode for £10, well worth the extra! Also didn't pay extra for premium delivery but arrived next day in any case.So a quick update, there appears to be a problem with one frequency that Radioworld have programmed into my scanner. They say that this hasn't happened before and they will re program the radio if I return it. They want me to bear the cost of the return which really disappoints me.Coincidentally another customer how has also just bought the same scanner from Radioworld has posted on a Facebook user group exactly the same issue albeit on a different channel. If you buy from here and have it preprogrammed check very carefully that you don't ... I had a cheap scanner for listening to airband frequencies, it was OK when it came to picking nearby transmissions such as the local airport but it could not pick up military transmissions. Last week I saw a video of someone using one of these and I was impressed by what I saw, especially the fact he was able to listen to military aircraft. I thought that's probably quite expensive but was quite surprised to see that it was fairly reasonable, being only my second scanner all i have to compare it with is my cheap one, this was more expensive but not as much as I expected something of this quality to be. Even with the rubber duck antenna that it came with it was able to receive transmissions from much further away. I have not read the manual yet to discover all the ... This is probably the best scanner if you want to listen to military air traffic as most scanners only cover the civil air band.If you are interested only in civil aviation you can spend half the price and still get a great Uniden scanner. The scanner is really easy to use. One thing, always enter and save at least one frequency first off or you will keep getting 'locked out' messages, which really mean no frequencies to scan when you first buy it.It has 500 discrete memory slots for frequencies, in 10 banks allowing you to place related freqs together and scan only them. You can also search a whole frequency band and even create your own custom frequency band for searching. This could be useful if you wish to watch only part of a radio band. When out and about you ... Then you can listen to it or save it into memory. This makes it easy to switch to a frequency you have just heard on the radio and follow it.It is well made and comes with rechargable 2300mah AA batteries in the box. This is a nice and sturdy, easy to use scanner. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to listen to military air traffic.
It is very easy to use, especially if you have previous experience with other scanners but the included instructions are very clear to follow. The rubber duck antenna isn't that great so I would definitely add a better antenna to the purchase, as advised by Radioworld too.A major difference from my old scanner is the possibility to name channels which is very helpful and the close call feature that can be handy when at an airshow, for example.I haven't used any software with it yet since I don't mind taking my time saving and naming channels but I understand that I could save some time connecting the scanner to my PC.All in all it is a great product!
The Uniden 125XLT is an awesome little radio and I am extremely pleased that I bought it. I have been a radio listener most of my life and wanted to upgrade my scanner to one with alpha tagging and computer programming capability so that I could more easily manage the memories. I use the highly recommended and free programming software called scan125, and as soon as I had connected the radio up to the PC the software immediately recognised the radio and I was happily programming away in seconds. I only had one concern when I was choosing this radio and that was regarding battery life which I had read was less the average. I have been using the supplied 2300mah batteries and some eneloop 1900mah batteries and I have been charging them with a quality intelligent charger from technoline, the BL700 and it hasn't really been an issue for me. I'm estimating that the current drain of the radio is probably about 240ma with the backlight permanently off. You'll probably find that the drain is higher if you are scanning frequencies that are extremely active. But in reality this equates to several days use of the radio using it for about 2 to 3 hours of light use a day. If I were taking it to my local airport or an airshow I would take a couple of sets of charged batteries with me justin case I run out. It looks awesome, the display is nice and easy to read especially after my Maycom 108, it's nice to hold being neither too big or too small, and all in all I am extremely pleased with the purchase.
