Good little radio - good quality, easy to install - comes with components to mount with bracket or flush mount - I flush mounted, looks great. Installed the std 450mm whip mount antenna (this antenna seems to be the one used on small quintrex boats) - its a ground plane antenna so mounted it on the aluminium deck top - first test on the water passed with flying colours - reception very strong - only used the 1 watt power and was good - can change to 25 watt for longer range in emergency or further distance from transmitters. Have now seen 5 of these with failed microphones just outside of warranty. Requires complete dismantling to replace. Junk
Good product.Easy to install works well. However a cover for it would have been good.
Was on special and good all round vhf radio. Works well easy install. Time will tell how good it is.
I haven’t used it yet , teamed it up with 1.8m detachable GME VHF Areial , Uniden are a trustworthy brand, just hope it works when needed, will test at sea boat to boat and ship to shore.
Brought the Uniden UM355 VHF Radio, Flush Mount Bracket, Antenna and Antenna Base to replace an old 27MHZ unit. Have just finished installing it and yet to try it out on the water but so far everything's great. The flush mount bracket made the installation a lot easier.
I bought the Uniden 255 on the advice of the salesman at the store as a present for my husband for xmas. When he opened it on xmas day I realised it was not a VHF unit which is what I stipulated at time of purchase. Now I have to buy another radio and I know where I won't be going to get it.
