Universal Audio UAFX Dream '65 Reverb Amplifier Pedal
The UAFX Dream '65 Reverb Amplifier pedal captures six decades of legendary American tube amp tone that shaped the sound of icons from Muddy Waters to The Beatles. Built on Universal Audio's renowned dual-engine processing and UAD modelling expertise, this pedal delivers the authentic cleans, sweet breakup, and lush spring reverb that made the original amplifier a studio staple. Artists and producers have relied on this classic amp sound for generations, and now it's available in a compact pedal format. Going beyond typical amp-in-a-box pedals, the Dream '65 faithfully recreates the immersive experience of real tube-powered spring reverb and vibrato. This makes it incredibly versatile across genres from soul and surf to funk, punk, blues and bebop. The pedal excels both as a complete amp replacement for direct-to-FOH performance and as a recording solution that delivers expertly miked "golden unit" tube amp tones straight into your DAW. Custom modifications and legendary drive sounds expand the tonal palette further, including the famous tones associated with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Steve Lukather. Two iconic mods and a built-in clean boost provide additional sonic options that rival expensive amp modellers. The UAFX Control mobile app enhances the experience by offering downloadable artist tones, preset management, and deeper control over this classic American tube amp recreation.

I have been ultimately happy with the Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, Fender Mustang Micro Deluxe Reverb model, NUX Amp Academy, and Positive Grid Spark Mini. The Tone Master is outstanding if you want its form factor and don't mind the quantized backside master volume (why a "power" switch instead of a pot???).The Mustang and Spark Mini have noticeable quantization noise likely due to a fixed-point DSP being pushed to its limits. But just because I can hear it if I listen carefully does not mean they are not quite good. Maybe a demerit to the Mustang for not enough reverb control. The Spark is excellent for practicing/jamming/performing at no mic vocal volumes. The last house party my duo played I brought only the Spark Mini. The NUX sounds very good but just ... The last house party my duo played I brought only the Spark Mini. The NUX sounds very good but just about nothing about setting it up has the "knobs" sitting where I would expect. Some of the models (Twin and Super) have less gain than I expect. My OCD keeps me constantly switching amp model choices... You really need to use the PC app to get to many important settings. Also, it powers up to the last loaded preset not to the knob settings. There is no simple live mode for gigs; hence the interest in the UA Dream 65.The Dream 65 works just as expected. The boost function that pulls out the bright cap and boosts mids as you turn it up seems extremely useful and musical. The preset switching is a good feature that I'm unlikely to use. So far, I've not been motivated to explore the two amp mods. I am really liking it! So much so I was a little hesitant to download the extra speaker models and latest firmware or connect the app to tweak the foot switches for my preferences (why mess with perfection?).The often-reported Bluetooth problems happened to me too. I wanted to set the foot switches to Boost on/off, Live/Preset toggle. My iPhone 12 settings said it was Bluetooth connected to the Dream 65, but the app said not. Re-booting the peddle managed to get it completely disconnected from the iPhone. Pushing the pairing button again and starting over with the app did the trick. If my usage was predicated on that App working at a gig, the pedal would go back. Luckily, I'm done with the app. The presets don't interest me as it's just a guitar amp model with a few extra options; not some Helix of complexity...I used it for rehearsal yesterday. It's in the same modeling class as a Fender Tone Master. You need to decide which features make the case for you (pedal vs amp). For me, gigging through a PA, the pedal is a better package, and a master volume pot is a major missing item on the Tone Master. I've got a QSC CP8 for my FRFR powered speaker (best on its side with the backside EQ set to monitor) and the Dream plus the CP8 is more compact and about the same weight as a Tone Master Deluxe. There is no preferring one or the other for tone, but for features the pedal into FRFR clearly wins. Of course, the Tone Master is gorgeous to look at.I did find the nuances of the Dream's speaker models engaging and interesting (the same experiment on a Tone Master means new firmware). I settled on the Celestion GB25 model, but I could easily hear why the others were worth considering. The Celestion was the winner for overdrive and the Oxford the winner for sparkling clean.

Sounds fantastic! Much better than my Kemper clean sounds, and has great blues and rock sounds in there as well as great cleans.

Overall:Used in 1 live performance and stopped working within 2 weeks of purchase. Was hoping for an exchange but was told “they’re spoken for”. Good luck to those who have them coming. Hope you have better luck with yours than I did with mine. Now I’m waiting on a refund.

The UAFX Dream 65 Reverb amp pedal does Blackface better than the old Fender DR blackface I owned 20 yrs and as well as my current Carr Super Bee 1x 12. It does everything I need plus. Reverb & Boosts are great. The high E, B, G strings ring perfectly clear. My favorite sound is in standard with boost at 9 o'clock. It has pick attack sound of an old Naylor or Matchless from the 90's. This is my first UAFX product. Thank you for this little miracle of a box.
Very impressed by the sound and simplicity. A great option for direct recording and using as a back up for a real amp at a a gig. I'm also finding this 'four cable method' surprisingly useful for more tonal options when using an amp. That allows for switching between using the amp normally (with the pedal bypassed) and using the pedal as a preamp straight into he power amp via the effects loop. On my 80's Fender Concert it is sounds as good, although different, using the pedal as the preamp to using the real amp. On a smaller combo (Koch studio-tone) it sounds better than the real amp. I do find I need to have something to boost the mids before it for lead work. It lacks a mid control like the original amp and has that very scooped fender sound.
First props to CME....i think I got the last one in stock....packed and shipped quickly. They did it. They nailed it. It's just about perfect.I spent an hour last night trying to get my Helix to sound as good as the Dream...while I did get the sound close....the feel and touch sensitivity was not even in the same ballpark. Also the way the amp reacted to my volume on guitar was different. It FEELS like a tube amp. The Helix feels good....but it's just not as inspirational. You play different when you feel connected to the amp and this thing nails it and that's where the Helix falls short.I actually played the Helix into this (turned amp and IR emulation off) and it made all the effects sound more detailed...more clear.I'm keeping the Helix as you can't beat ...
