Urban Decay’s Matter Lipstick in shade Backtalk is one of the best lipsticks I have every tried. It’s matte but so hydrating at the same time. I never have dry lips when I wear it.
The shade Backtalk is pink’ish nude color, and it looks so classy and sophisticated. The shade is so beautiful, it makes my lips look fuller than they actually are, and I literally
wear this lipstick every single day to work. It doesn’t have any fragrance or scent, and even the metallic packaging is so stylish! I love it so much!

I am someone who shies away from lipstick most of the time. I gave Urban Decay's 'Liar'a try because it seemed to be a safe color to dip my toe into and I loved the idea of a
hydrating lipstick. I'm going to start by saying that although this color is gorgeous, it was not a good fit for me. However, I can see the color looking great on someone else.
The lipstick went on smoothly and felt velvety. However, that hydrated feeling dissipated quickly. While it wasn't as Drying as other lipsticks I've tried, it did not fully live up to
its name. I will say that the smoothness with which is went on made it much easier to apply for a novice like myself.

AMAZING lipstick
21 March 2024
I literally just bought these last night and I'm already obsessed. I have buck teeth that ALWAYS get lipstick on them, so I usually spend the first 10 minutes after applying rubbing the lipstick off my front teeth with my tongue. This stuff DOES NOT BUDGE, even when I over apply. I'm also used to kissing my boyfriend and transferring some of my lipstick to him, but when I got home last night and kissed him, he didn't have ANYTHING on his lips. Somehow, these lipsticks are super moisturizing but don't feel tacky on my lips. It was hard to find the colors I wanted because nothing shows up the way it does on swatches, but I think that's just a me problem. I tried a bunch on my hand in an Ulta store until I found the colors that worked for me, but somewhat unfortunately ... MoreI literally just bought these last night and I'm already obsessed. I tried a bunch on my hand in an Ulta store until I found the colors that worked for me, but somewhat unfortunately found out just how long-lasting this lipstick is in the process. I wiped my hand down with rubbing alcohol 3 times and still had a stain on my hand when I left the store. I had to use my good makeup remover to get it off. Considering the price point, I am absolutely going to replace a large portion of my collection with this stuff if they come out with more colors.... Show more

Colors are super off, but great product
7 August 2023
(from top to bottom)Backtalk (mauve nude pink) matte: Much more bright mauvy pink than I expected, not quite nude in my opinion. Doesn't look like the pictures at all. In the Satin section on Sephora but says Matte on the product, and it looks matte. What's your sign (nude pink) matte: Looks like that weird top right picture with pale skin in the chart with different skin tones. Kinda orange? I don't know what's up with nude colors but they tend to be off in my experience and this was the case too...Hideaway (deep nude mauve) matte: I mean it's a bright purple pink, nothing beige or nude about it. It's a pretty color, just not the color I was expecting. The mattes: they are matte, but not so dry looking that they look like powder or just kinda plain/one ... More(from top to bottom)Backtalk (mauve nude pink) matte: Much more bright mauvy pink than I expected, not quite nude in my opinion. I think there's this tiniest type of shine to it that makes it look more like natural lips (if you didn't just lick them or put lip balm on) than those suuuper matte lipsticks that look like paint or something. They're also very soft in texture & stay on well.Ravenswood (medium dusty rose) satin/cream: Nope, it's more like a deep burgundy color. Like a very pretty dark red with a tinge of mauvey/purple in it. It has this perfect satin finish, very pretty, also stays on pretty well. Not dusty in my opinion, quite a bright color like the others here I've tried.DTLA (sheer brick nude) shine: This one also is quite strong in color compared to what's advertised, especially in the arm swatches photos. It's this bright pink-red. Beautiful shine, not overdone, looks very sheer balm like but definitely more opaque in color. Good power, though fades a tiny bit more than the others. I love this more balmy formula but no shade interest me right now.Honeslty, beautiful packaging, heavy and tough, a bit confusing to close because of the angle but maybe that's just me. Product's formula is great. And honestly, the colors too. They're beautiful and pigmented, but just really not the colors they advertised.... Show more

Different colors feel like different formulas
30 July 2024
I bought local first and it was a bit more of a satin and hydrating look. I wasn't super fond because reapplying later made the color look off. I was also wanting something a bit more matte. I loved the back talk color, but as I found out after buying it the long wear is super drying. I have no idea why this colors formula dried my lips out but it did royally so definitely try this color before buying. Local works great but as a single application. Backtalk dried my lips out fast. After checking out the reviews this apparently is way more common problem with backtalk specifically than I thought.... Show more

Great lipstick and love the color Weho!
4 February 2023
I got this in the color Weho and it is such a great, everyday shade that goes with everything and any occasion. The color Weho is a babyish pink but with enough nude in it that balances the brightness so it is super wearable. It is matte but hydrating and also surprisingly long lasting. I don't feel like I need to reapply this for a few hours or unless I eat, and I don't have the urge to put on lipgloss or lip balm for hydration (unless I want a juicier look). I did get another shade in a bright magenta and love that too, but it is less of an everyday color for me personally and just requires more precision when putting it on. I work from home and am on webcam all day. I can just slap this shade on, no lipliner needed, and I am good to go. Really makes me look more ... MoreI got this in the color Weho and it is such a great, everyday shade that goes with everything and any occasion. Love!My only minor complaint is the packaging. While super cute it is sometimes a pain to close the bullet because of the orientation of the sides and it can feel like a Rubik's cube (I'm exaggerating but you know what I mean).... Show more

Reviews are super important to me when I'm looking to try something new and I pay close attention to them as I really research something before I buy it. Because of that, I always try to give details that will help others in making their decision.I ordered this online and finally got it in the mail, after delayed shipping. I had such high hopes for this lipstick! It goes on very smooth, feels hydrating, and looks absolutely beautiful, at first. Beware, this doesn't last long, at all. It was no time at all before the smooth, beautiful application became sticky, but also dry- such a weird combo. I was at work talking to people (I'm in the hospitality industry), and I kept feeling like I had a dried out, chunky, matte lipstick on and was afraid to even rub my lips ... MoreReviews are super important to me when I'm looking to try something new and I pay close attention to them as I really research something before I buy it. I was at work talking to people (I'm in the hospitality industry), and I kept feeling like I had a dried out, chunky, matte lipstick on and was afraid to even rub my lips together because I could tell it wasn't right, but I wasn't quite sure how. I finally made it to the bathroom to look in the mirror and I was mortified that I'd been talking to people that way! The lipstick had migrated, to the edges of my lips- inner lips and outer lips! The inside of my lips looked like a clumpy, "pilled" in a line mess- like I'd taken a thick lipliner to the inside of my lips. And, the edges were crusty and clumpy. I had to wipe it off as much as I and forgo having lipstick, I thought. When my shift was over, I went to eat but I wiped my mouth first because it still felt dried out. There was still some clumpy lipliner around the outer part of my lips. No no no. This one is definitely going back after one wear! So disappointing! And super annoying that I have to deal with returning it.... Show more

Just let me love youuuuuu!
15 September 2024
I opened this lipstick and at first loved everything about it. Packaging was so unique, and the color that appeared as I twisted the tube...WOW! Gorgeous! It felt so creamy on my lips and glided right on just like butter. The color had no blotches, or no inconsistencies at all; it was highly pigmented, had full coverage, and I was in love. As I popped into a mirror here and there just to have another look, I quickly knew this love was not meant to be. The color was disappearing from my lips in warp speed. There is zero staying power with this lipstick so what exactly is the point? Long lasting is the first thing I look for in a lipstick so without that, I must be moving on. Not worth trying again even with a great sale. So disappointing!... Show more

Pleasantly surprised
14 March 2023
I loved the previous formula, as well as the 100 shades to choose from, so I was rather disappointed with Urban Decay for discontinuing them. I honestly didn't even intend to try the new ones because I feel like Urban Decay discontinues products way too often for me to get attached. But when these were on the most recent 21 days of beauty at half price, I grabbed a couple on a whim. I bought Callback, which is a brick red shade, in the same family as MAC Chili, and Manic, which is nothing like the old formula of Manic that I had in the metallic purple tube. I wore Callback today, and was a little anxious at first that it would smear or bleed into my vertical lip lines. I'm very impressed that it applies very creamy, but then dries down a bit to cling to the lips ... MoreI loved the previous formula, as well as the 100 shades to choose from, so I was rather disappointed with Urban Decay for discontinuing them. This is NOT a transfer proof lipstick by any means, but it lasts through drinking and light eating much better than expected. After I ate a piece of cake, I went to wipe off my lipstick and reapply because that's what I typically do, but when I wiped it with a tissue, it left behind a lot of color. I didn't expect that, considering how creamy the application was. The pigment is lovely and full, and it doesn't bleed into my lip lines.... Show more
