I bought this UV Filter from Urth as I’d bought other filters from them and they have all been excellent. This was to replace a very expensive UV filter which inadvertently got stuck to a step-down ring and failed to part ! I was very happy to buy yet product from them and it does the job. The only problem I have is with the container it comes in. Being an older person, and the container’s side being smooth, I find it hard to open. Some sort of grip is needed. Perhaps this could be rectified in the future.

Started using Urth (Gobi at the time) about three years ago, haven't used another UV lens filter brand since. UV has a solid design, great packaging and case, and flawless results. They also make very nice CPLs and NDs but if you reading this you probably already know that. It's important to have a good UV to protect your front element and filter out UV light, I have these on all of my pro series lenses because of the great quality and protection it provides. If price point was held equal between this and competing brands, I think that Urth provides a better product and experience. They plant trees for you when you buy this like cmon #ESG
Filter was packed in a beautiful box, with amazing details. The massage is clear - we should care about our environment - very inspirational. I would definitely recommend the filter for every demanding photographer - especially if they are nature lovers.
There are many very small spots on the filter that weren’t dust and could not be removed (even with the included micro fibre cloth) so I think they are some imperfections in the coating. Otherwise, the build quality seems good and it has a slim profile.
I’ve bought a number of Urth / Gobe filters over recent years and always found them to be good quality and excellent value for money. The most recent one arrived in thin card envelope which offered such little protection that the metal case the filter was in had been squashed in the post. The filter was fortunately ok, but I would have thought an expensive piece of glass deserved more protection! I was offered another case, but turned it down as the filter was ok.
The picture clarity does not seem to be affected. I use it on my new Nikon 200-500 lens which I primarily use for birding. Static pics are very clear, no distortion or blur when cropped close. Price is right , quality good.
i needed to replace the UV filter for my nifty 50 lens (it had been in use for a long time & was embarrassingly crusty) and i am very pleased with this one from Urth! previously i had a standard Polaroid one and so far, this one is noticeably sharper—although that could just be because it's brand-new and clean. in any case, excellent product & arrived very quickly —it showed up less than a day after my order was placed, even though it was on the weekend.
The filter and packaging was great. The lens itself fits great and of good quality. Bonus that trees are planted.
