Urth 86mm ND2-32 (1-5 Stop) Variable ND Lens Filter (Plus+)
The Urth 86mm ND2 32 (1 5 Stop) Variable ND Lens Filter is a high-quality screw filter specifically designed for photographers and videographers who desire precise control over the exposure of their shots. With a diameter of 86 millimetres, this filter is suitable for a variety of lenses and allows for the reduction of the amount of light hitting the sensor without affecting colour balance. The ND filter offers a variable density from 2 to 32, which corresponds to a reduction in light by up to 5 stops. This is particularly useful in bright environments or when using wide apertures to achieve a shallow depth of field. The filter is easy to attach and remove, providing flexible handling during photography or filming. With its robust construction and high optical quality, the Urth ND filter is a valuable addition to any photo or video kit.

Fantastic variable ND filter a cut above Gobe's other variable ND filters. Worth paying the bit extra for the 3 peak version over the 1 or 2 peak but still considerably less money than most of the good quality alternatives out there. I use it for video to bring down the amount of light entering the camera in bright situations. That allows me to maintain the correct shutter speed, wide aperture and shallow focus. It really makes a massive difference in bright situations. This filter doesn't allow you to move past the end stops and keeps you in the best operating area. This avoids cross polarisation, causing horrible blue crosses you sometimes get. Other filters just keep spinning around and that also makes it difficult to know where you are if you need to make any ... MoreFantastic variable ND filter a cut above Gobe's other variable ND filters. As far as I can tell so far there have been no negatives at all. 100% would recommend this filter to anyone that needs one.

Decent build quality, but it gives colors a subtle yellow cast. Difficult to fully correct in post. Also, no zero density setting - you have to remove it for that. And no lever to turn the filter. Makes it very easy to get fingerprints on the glass.

I purchased it for my Tamron 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Telephoto lens which is attached to a Fotodiox Pro EOS-MFT Lens Mount Adapter, which is attached to my BMPCC Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Cameras (4K and Original). The craftsmanship is top notch. Outstanding quality all around with great attention to detail, and the customer service from the company should you ever need it is awesome! Great images every single time, even on a very sunny day.

I bought the 52mm version a year or two ago and just purchased the 82mm for my newest lens. Great build quality and tactile details. I use these for lengthened seascape exposures and portraits. High quality image results.
I was unsure about getting an ND filter as I stupidly thought they were only used for landscape photography. I tend to photograph the natural world or documentary scene. My lenses tend to be either f1.2,f1.4 or f1.8 as I love playing with the shallow depth of field, so being able to use a variable ND filter with such bright lenses allows for greater control of a scene's light. The 'variable' nature of the filter allowed for a quick set up compared to a set ND filter. I've used this lens for over a year and I carry it with me at all times. I highly recommend this lens as it's well-made, durable and keeps image fidelity.
Very happy with the filter. From recyclable packaging, metal storage tin, free cleaning cloth and the fact that Gobe plant 5 trees per purchase (after a simple code input to their site). The filter itself is very well made. Feels solid and well built and has just the right amount of tension while adjusting on the fly. I have used it on my DSLR and also Osmo Action camera cage with a reducer ring and was great on both cameras. We now also use other Gobe filters on our.other DSLR system.
I research so long for a VND that is build to last, has no significant colour cast and that has the ability to stack filters. The image you are getting with this ND-Filter has beautiful colours, while giving the accurate optical density, that it is set on. What I like the most, is that URTH achieved to not only provide superior quality with their products, they also are care about their environmental footprint and use their customers to make the world better.
This is my second Urth ND2-32 Var ND filter, I am very pleased with the 95mm version for my Nikon 200-500mm, however, this 82mm's outside diameter is too big for either the Nikon 14-30mm Z lens hood, or the Nikon 24-70 F2.8 Z lens hood to fit over it. How incredibly disappointing! Even worse, this is actually my second 82mm Var ND, I was trying to replace my Hoya one because that doesn't have front threads for a lens cap and didn't have an end stop. This at least fits the standard Nikon 82mm lens cap, and has an end stop at the ND 32 setting, so you can't accidentally go past it and get the dreaded X, but I can't believe it's too big for the lens hood, none of my other 82mm filters are too big, including the Hoya Var ND argh!
I've started shooting more and more video as well as stills and so now find ND filters an increasingly essential part of my kit bag. Whilst I love the convenience of a variable ND filter to dial in just the level of exposure compensation you need and adjust it on the fly as the lighting changes I am yet to find one that is truly 'N'.I would definitely describe this as a 'Variable D' filter as it is not neutral and whilst the warm colour cast might be pleasing in some situations it is a pain if you are shooting with more than one body simultaneously and one has no filter or a genuinely neutral 'ND' filter attached and you need to get the white balance to match. I therefore tend to stick to fixed density NDs whenever I can and am still searching for a truly neutral ... MoreI've started shooting more and more video as well as stills and so now find ND filters an increasingly essential part of my kit bag. If I were using it just for photography where exact matching with another camera and colour consistency were not so critical I would give it four, or even five, stars.
This combination of filters is 'spot on'. The UV filter was for a new lens (Sony 24-105) and the polariser and variable ND filter round out what I need. The quality of these filters is excellent and means that I always have confidence in them. Both my wife and I use Urth filters!
