This is a pretty interesting fragrance to review. I have waited until the absolute last moment to review this fragrance because I really wanted to give it a chance and understand how it behaves on my skin. The opening starts off with notes of red Apple, Cardamom, and Calabrian bergamot. It smells like very fresh sweet opening with a hint of spice from the cardamom. The opening last for about an hour or two before it starts to hit the midnotes bourbon geranium, clary sage, and lavender. At this point on my skin it starts to project a little less and sit a little closer to the skin. It is definitely a fragrance I really need to scrub down in the shower to get off lol, so be careful spraying on clothing. It’s unfortunate that I had to try this fragrance out during summer with 87+ degree Fahrenheit heat. In my opinion, it gets very cloying in extreme heat. I definitely believe it would do much better in fall, maybe winter, and early spring. (For reference, I live in the south. It’s hot and humid most of the year) Overall: 8/10 very good. Versatile for dressed up/down occasions and dates, day or night. It embodies the perfect amount of edginess and softness, which is something that I think compliments me and my style perfectly, and is the whole point of the fragrance itself. I highly recommend this scent, and I will gladly continue to use it!

In a nutshell, Valentino Uomo Born in Roma CORAL FANTASY is such a fruity sweet, boozy and ambery scent with the balance of aromatic sage. I think this is a unique, modern, complex perfume, suitable for many occasions, or just for a special night out or long day at work. Because the longevity would last more than 8-10 hours and the sillage is easily detected as a “beast mode”. And if you need one more reason to add it to your collection, here it is: The bottle is specular with gradient glass design!

This review is a follow up on my original review for Valentino Uomo Born in Roma eau de toilette except this time it is on the eau de parfum Intense version. I have to say this fragrance has seriously grown on me. Originally I felt like it was too sweet but somehow after wearing the non-intense version for a few weeks it is a smell I look forward to and enjoy. Similar to the non intense version, this fragrance is fruity and specifies notes of apple and they are still spot on but the intense version has a few notes that come through along with the apple. Mostly, the new addition I notice the most is the vanilla. It makes the scent a little warmer and pleasant. Now, Valentino mentions that this scent also has lavender as a prominent note and Im not sure that is really coming through. It is somewhat tough to tell but from my perspective I think it could just be overpowered by the vanilla and the increased warmth that this fragrance has. All in all, its actually turned into a great fragrance that I can genuinely say I would buy. My main disclaimer, however, is that had I not received a full bottle and gotten to try it, it would not have grown on me and I wouldn’t have the newfound positive opinion of it that I now have. As always, the packaging is phenomenal, and would look great on any counter or fragrance tray. I think this would be good for someone who likes a sweeter more vibrant scent with just a touch of woody elements but a lot of warmth.

Real vanilla can become ashy or smokey, vetiver can be damp or even rotten, and lavender in its truest form is sharp and metallic. When these facets are removed from the notes, we are left with something which has been sterilized. An instagram filter that takes all of the personality away from an otherwise beautiful face.And that is I guess the real problem for me: Born in Roma Intense feels less like a perfume and more like content. It smells like they just made something to put in a bottle so no one would forget that Valentino makes perfume. It smells fine, but it is just one of 100 scents released in the past 5 years that smell exactly the same. Sweet, strong, and indistinct.But don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself!!

First spray opens up sweet and fruity and then lavender blends in before the scent eventually phases out into a blend of faint vanilla, lavender, and vetiver. Vanilla definitely has the strongest presence among the mix of notes.Projection/Performance: Opening is pretty strong - sweet and fruity - however, after first 30 minutes, the scent does die down significantly. On my skin, scent lasted for about 3-4 hours and on clothes, lasts for about 5 hours. Overall, projection/performance could certainly have been better!
