I have used the product for multiple days now as I wanted to give it a few tries before reviewing. When I first opened the box of Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Intense, I really loved the design of the bottle. Honestly, so many other bottles are boring and plain and you wouldn’t expect to appreciate a bottle design so much, but I do! If you’ve seen other bottles by this brand, you would notice this one has a really nice looking pink color to the actual liquid, which shows through the glass from the middle to the bottom. When first spraying this fragrance on my wrist, it was very familiar as I’ve tried the original version of this product in the past. When first spraying this fragrance on my wrist, it was very familiar as I’ve tried the original version of this product in the past. However, from my first impression I noticed this new Intense version is a bit stronger and sweeter, in my opinion. I can best describe the scent as having a vanilla tone with notes of a fruity/lavender smell, which compliment each other really well. With that being said, it maintains a more masculine scent that I’m familiar with in other colognes as it has a woody, warm, vetiver scent to it as well. After immediately applying this with a single spray, I felt it was very strong and only needed one spray, which makes sense as it is an eu de parfum, which has a higher concentration than the eu de toilette I have tried in the past. Because of this, it lasted longer throughout the day (most prominently around 5-6 hours although I could still very clearly smell it up close at the very end of the day). It isn’t too overpowering but also definitely not weak! I actually really liked how it smelled after having it on for a while as apposed to the initial spray, which is great! As I typically wear the same cologne, wearing this one for a change did give me a few very nice compliments! The fragrance is very welcoming and has a warm feel to it, which I believe come from the combination of vanilla and lavandin. I am 100% going to be wearing this regularly. I would recommend this product to people who feel a warm/floral/fresh cologne describes the type of scents they prefer. Or if you’d like to switch it up completely and get something you aren’t used to, this is definitely worth a shot and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Contrary to popular belief, this is my favorite from the Born In Roma line. To me this fragrance is very linear and uninspiring. While certain designer fragrances nowadays are, this to me is one of them. On initial spray, I get a bright dose of vanilla, a fresh vanilla mixed with a bright sparkling ginger. As it settles down, you get a beautiful clean aromatic lavender. It almost gives it a bit of a licorice effect. I get a sharp nutmeg in the very back, giving it a spicy sweetness. Almost a very faint cinnamon sprinkled touch. As it continues to dry down, you are left with a dry woody vetiver. Throughout the fragrance, I get some touches of leather which remind me of the leather in Coral Fantasy, but in here it's very faint. In conclusion, this to me is quite ... In conclusion, this to me is quite redundant compared to other scents in my collection. If I'd want something in the same vain with vanilla, lavender and maybe some touches of iris, I'd go with Armani Code Parfum. Due to the fact that this to me doesn't quite bring anything interesting. Could it replace a fragrance in my current collection, sure! But until I finish some of these fragrances up, I wouldn't get a bottle of it. As far as longevity, projection and spillage goes I can't really speak out so much on it since this is a sample. What I can say is that it's quite a potent smell. It does linger for quite some time and no doubt it will get people attention! Overall I recommend this to any one looking for a vanilla aromatic scent and those who may not have a scent like this! Other than that, I guess I don't really see the hype behind it. Everyone has there own preference though! I'd rate this a 7/10

I generally lean toward profiles with a strong wood presence throughout like Issey Miyake Pour Homme Wood Wood or Le Labo Santal 33, but this fragrance may have incepted a different profile that works for me also. First impressions: the box and bottle are mysterious and beautiful and the hint of coral coloring adds that “pop” when on a shelf. While this is a men’s fragrance, I think it would make a bold unisex choice. The scent leads very strongly with a burst of fruit and floral notes - mixed with my chemistry my first thought was poached pears in champagne with elderflowers. It’s delicate and playful and then it transforms! Middle was spicy but fresh I got cardamom, sage, with lingering floral notes. And as it continues to chambré, finishing with a smooth tobacco ... The overall effect is really balanced but also spirited in a way - a great scent for summer but like at a resort and you’re the main character in a murder mystery novel. Lasting impressions: I enjoy how there are “green” notes through each stage - it remains grounded and familiar. The sillage is moderate which I like as someone doesn’t need to smell it across the room but if near you the fragrance will pique the interests of others. The longevity leaves a little room for improvement lasting only about 4 hours with my chemistry. But honestly if you’re on the fence and want something with a certain mysterious exuberance, then this is right up your alley. Even if that’s not appealing I was found myself really smitten with it.

This review is a follow up on my original review for Valentino Uomo Born in Roma eau de toilette except this time it is on the eau de parfum Intense version. I have to say this fragrance has seriously grown on me. Originally I felt like it was too sweet but somehow after wearing the non-intense version for a few weeks it is a smell I look forward to and enjoy. Similar to the non intense version, this fragrance is fruity and specifies notes of apple and they are still spot on but the intense version has a few notes that come through along with the apple. Mostly, the new addition I notice the most is the vanilla. It makes the scent a little warmer and pleasant. It retains a similar thickness to it compared to the non intense with the woody and almost musk like attributes layering nicely. Unlike the non intense version it starts strong and stays strong with a fantastic linger. The one thing that the non intense version had compared to the this version is the tobacco. There was a hint of it in the non-intense version that I am not smelling currently but the slight bit of patchouli is still there and adds a nice touch. Now, Valentino mentions that this scent also has lavender as a prominent note and Im not sure that is really coming through. It is somewhat tough to tell but from my perspective I think it could just be overpowered by the vanilla and the increased warmth that this fragrance has. All in all, its actually turned into a great fragrance that I can genuinely say I would buy. My main disclaimer, however, is that had I not received a full bottle and gotten to try it, it would not have grown on me and I wouldn’t have the newfound positive opinion of it that I now have. As always, the packaging is phenomenal, and would look great on any counter or fragrance tray. I think this would be good for someone who likes a sweeter more vibrant scent with just a touch of woody elements but a lot of warmth. For those of you who know fragrance I would also put this cologne in the class of a gourmande which means the scent notes mimic edible flavors you can find in desserts and fruit. I highly recommend it and can see it as a great fall and winter fragrance.
Today I am reviewing another fabulous Born In Roma fragrance compliments of Maison Valentino - Born In Roma Uomo Intense! There is something so iconic and ferociously stylish about the rockstud design marking the bottles of this collection. For this intense variation, the flacon is labeled in black leather with hot pink letters, echoing the scent’s duality, versatility, and punk-like appeal. An equally expressive shade of vivid pink glows from within, allowing one to speculate what kind of olfactory endless sunset awaits. As a cologne type of “fougère” fragrance (“Uomo” is simply Italian for man), one can loosely interpret this as the “masculine” counterpart to the Born In Roma Donna sister fragrances - though in truth this is also very much enjoyed as a unisex ... MoreToday I am reviewing another fabulous Born In Roma fragrance compliments of Maison Valentino - Born In Roma Uomo Intense! As a cologne type of “fougère” fragrance (“Uomo” is simply Italian for man), one can loosely interpret this as the “masculine” counterpart to the Born In Roma Donna sister fragrances - though in truth this is also very much enjoyed as a unisex fragrance. What allows this fragrance to succeed in resonating with both a masculine and feminine identity is the versatile appeal of its various fragrance notes. As a “fougère,” the fragrance focuses on a floral lavender heart complimented by a grounding base note of smoked vetiver. The scent is amplified by an addictive bourbon vanilla infusion, and a couture heart of nutmeg with salty accord. The top of this bottle is distinctively curved as opposed to square - a stylistic feature which I don’t particularly favor over the more striking silhouette of the square-shaped Donna variations. Reviewing a Valentino fragrance is difficult, because the house is constantly outdoing itself. I can’t say this version comes close to my favorite Donna Coral Fantasy, however the Uomo Intense holds its own unique offering for the fragrance consumer looking for floral freshness with a bit of an edge. Worn beautifully on both men and women!

However, the sample allows me to test the fragrance on my skin and write a few lines with my impressions. The period is the right one. Its boundless sweetness goes well with these early winter days that precede the Christmas holidays. In my flavour, it is a winter winner, albeit most people claim it as a spring and fall scent, or a summer night beast. It’s softer on the spectrum of men’s fragrances, and perhaps it would be a great pick as a fresh summer scent that still stands its ground with a subtle spiciness thanks to the ginger. Born In Roma Uomo is a modern aromatic fragrance, sweet, barely fruity, perhaps all too sweet for my taste. If Valentino Uomo (2014) EAU DE TOILETTE immediately fascinated me with its powdery shades of iris and cocoa, in some ways similar to "Dior Homme Original (2006) (Eau de Toilette) | Dior", this new flanker is not my cup of tea. I find it quite uninspiring, and it is incredible how it uncannily mimics Invictus EAU DE TOILETTE. It has a distinct familiarity with it, a genre I am not fond of, and it smells nothing like the OG Valentino Uomo. Yet, I will be aiming to review the scent, unbiased by my preferences. The scent unfolds with an avalanche of sugary notes, a bubble gum sweet smell. There is no trace of citrus fruit; nor the inevitable bergamot. However, the opening is fresh, a little salty, with a hint of something mineral and aquatic, a sort of oily minerals vibe. I get fresh and sweet oxymorons, like boiling ice, a riot of sweet-salty and candy-like ambroxan. All the freshness comes from the watery violet leaves. I swear a smidgen of blue lavender contributes to the fresh sweetness, too. As the perfume approaches the heart, I obtain the aromatic sage sprinkled with mineral salt, which gives it a more virile touch. Beyond that, some light ginger also comes through. It is not a dominant note but keeps the scent far from the aquatic domain. Instead, it comes out slightly soapy with a refined touch, associated with a much more fiery peppery touch. It smoothes over time, and the candy-like sweetness tones down, yielding the pace to something more clean, soapy. Subdued vetiver comes out while retaining some sweetness from the opening. I can easily catch the touch of the modern woody accord, although it is hard for me to clearly detect the smoky vetiver. Probably, my nose is used to other kinds of that earthy root.
I received a free bottle of Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Intense as part of an incentivized campaign to leave an honest review. I split my fragrance reviews into multiple categories such as Design, Character, Notes, Projection/Performance, and Final Thoughts. To put things into perspective, I’ve had this fragrance for almost a month now and I took my time to write the review so it would be as honest as possible - based on multiple uses in different temps and times of the day. Design: I would rate the design of the bottle/packaging a solid 8 out of 10. Valentino labels this fragrance as unisex/gender neutral and I think based on that, the design is pretty good. The box is all black with pink text and has a slightly studded texture. The gradient-colored bottle itself has a deeply studded design with a matte black cap and a faux leather patch with Valentino label in pink. In my opinion, the design is a good mix of mystery and power which sits well with the unisex nature of the fragrance. Character: When I read that this fragrance is unisex, I didn’t know what to expect and how would it work for both genders but, after having smelled it and used it multiple times, I can see this fragrance working equally well for both genders. Overall, this fragrance has a sweet/fruity character with a slight hint of florals as it opens up. Ideal time of the day for this fragrance, I would say, is evening/night. Notes: As advertised, this fragrance has leather, amber, vanilla, vetiver, and lavender. However, I do smell a faint hint of cherry somewhere lingering in the background. First spray opens up sweet and fruity and then lavender blends in before the scent eventually phases out into a blend of faint vanilla, lavender, and vetiver. Vanilla definitely has the strongest presence among the mix of notes. Projection/Performance: Opening is pretty strong - sweet and fruity - however, after first 30 minutes, the scent does die down significantly. On my skin, scent lasted for about 3-4 hours before becoming a skin scent and on clothes for about 5 hours. For an EDP, overall performance could/should have been better, in my opinion. Final Thoughts: This is one of those fragrances that you probably have smelled 100 times, does not offer anything distinctive, and would not offer any olfactory complexity either. However, will certainly get you compliments and is easily likeable. Considering the performance and lack of distinctive profile, the retail price of ~$128 for a 100ml bottle seems quite high. I would definitely expect a better fragrance profile with a better performance for that price tag. For reference, this one smells quite similar to Azzaro’s Most Wanted or Armani Code. Should you buy or not would depend on what you are really looking for in a fragrance. Can be a blind buy if general likeability is the deciding factor. Overall fragrance rating, I would give it 6.5 out of 10.
My goodness indeed... I was torn between this or Green Stravaganza, but decided to try this first, and I haven't been disappointed since. The first note that graces your nose, is this slightly powdery, but VERY rich vanilla bourbon. It's like a toasted vanilla bean, whipped into a hint of ginger. It's warm, and inviting, and fills the room space with a couple sprays. As the Lavandin fills your nose, it's slightly earthy, very herbaceous, and smells heavenly. This pairs with the Vanilla so beautifully here, it's inviting, pulls the attention of people caught in your sillage.During the dry down, you begin to experience the toasted Vetiver, it compliments the vanilla well, giving off a slightly dusty facet to the richness of the scent.Everything about this I love, ... Can't wait to buy another bottle!!!
I first sprayed a little of the fragrance into the cap of the bottle, and something about it just wasn't appealing to me. It kind of seemed synthetic at first. However, when I sprayed it on my chest, it had a really nice spicy/somewhat sweet smell. Your first impression by just smelling it in store may mislead you to pass this one up, but I recommend you try spraying the tester on yourself to try it out throughout the day. You may realize that it mixes very well with your natural scent and skin chemistry. This fragrance has a unisex feel to me, but its a little heavy for someone young, so I recommend not purchasing this for a teen or very young adult. I'm 28, and I feel it is a more mature scent than my lighter fragrances. I think this leans more masculine, but it ... I'm 28, and I feel it is a more mature scent than my lighter fragrances. I think this leans more masculine, but it could definitely work for either gender.I think this scent would be nice for an evening/night out, but I wouldn't use it for work. I think it may be too strong for that setting. I'll probably use this as my date night scent. It's also a good scent for cooler months, as warmer months are better for your light, fresh scents or citrus notes. Without the heat to carry your scent, you want something a little heavier, such as this one.Overall, I'm going to give it a 4/5. It's not as versatile as my other fragrances, but it's a great scent for the right settings. Its also more unique than some of my other fragrances. I think this would help me stand out in a crowd. I love the scent, but it's also not my favorite overall.
I split my fragrance reviews into multiple categories such as Design, Character, Notes, and Projection/Performance.To put things into perspective, I’ve had this fragrance for almost a month now and I took my time to write the review so it would be as honest as possible - based on multiple uses in different temps and times of the day.Design: I would rate the design of the bottle/packaging a solid 8 out of 10. Valentino labels this fragrance as unisex/gender neutral and I think based on that, the design is pretty good. The box is all black with pink text and has a slightly studded texture. The gradient-colored bottle itself has a deeply studded design with a matte black cap and a faux leather patch with Valentino label in pink. In my opinion, the design is a good ... In my opinion, the design is a good mix of mystery and power which sits well with the unisex nature of the fragrance.Character: When I read that this fragrance is unisex, I didn’t know what to expect and how would it work for both genders but, after having smelled it and used it multiple times, I can see this fragrance working equally well for both genders. Overall, this fragrance has a sweet/fruity character with a slight hint of florals as it opens up. Ideal time of the day for this fragrance, I would say, is evening/night.Notes: As advertised, this fragrance has leather, amber, vanilla, vetiver, and lavender. However, I do smell a faint hint of cherry somewhere lingering in the background. First spray opens up sweet and fruity and then lavender blends in before the scent eventually phases out into a blend of faint vanilla, lavender, and vetiver. Vanilla definitely has the strongest presence among the mix of notes.Projection/Performance: Opening is pretty strong - sweet and fruity - however, after first 30 minutes, the scent does die down significantly. On my skin, scent lasted for about 3-4 hours and on clothes, lasts for about 5 hours. Overall, projection/performance could certainly have been better!
