There isnt much to add to what people have already said about the sk8-hi over the years, but the skate version is significantly more durable and more importantly comfortable. They sit snugly around the foot thanks to the tongue straps and the insoles are leagues better than those of the standard version. If you like high tops this is a no-brainer... Show more

Generally a good shoe. Boardfeel is good. The hi-tops stabilize the ankle a bit more and if the board hits you don't get a cut straight away. As with all Vans skate shoes, the laces are a little thicker + you get a pair to change. An insole optimized for skating is also included. The standard Vans insole is Popcush, but there are also others such as Ultracush etc. The insole is ok, but can't be compared with Footprint, for example. Otherwise, I find the thickness of the fabric and the sole thinner than, for example, the Blazers from Nike or a pair of Last Resort hi-tops, but thicker than a pair of Chuck Taylors from Converse. They don't last forever, but they don't get holes extremely quickly either.... Show more

Great pair of shoes
Writing this review as I have received this pair an hour ago and the first impression out of the box is great! This pair feels great to touch and they look gorgeous.Comfort is also the best of all the vans I have ever had, they have an insole that makes these shoes extremely comfortable and snug around the heel, while also leaving a lot of room in the toe box so that my toes aren't squished.Really love them, hope they will last a long time as the previous pair didn't feel as great but still lasted a few years of daily walking and frequent abuse outdoors on a bike and skateboard.... Great shoes after significant break in
Been wearing vans for over 20 years sizing has never been an real issue also never really felt the need to get the pros but guess with age things change. Went looking for pros and found that they were "upgraded" to the skate line and ordered same shoe size as always and could not wear shoes for more than 30mins. Just like other reviews say...shoes are narrower than regular classic vans. After a few days of debating whether to return shoes or not decided to order a shoe stretcher and tried it out for a few days so shoes stretch could set and they turned out great. Now shoes are broken in perfect and I can wear shoes all day without feeling like my feet are in a vice lol.... Show more

Great shoes but a major drawback for mountain biking
Great shoes - really comfy and great grip for flat pedals. Plus the soles have lasted really well after a year of biking. The only major drawback has been after getting really wet on a ride they smell really bad. And it has taken three months for the smell to go.... Show more

if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
20 years of buying Vans Pro Skate shoes, and these are by far the worst ones I've ever had. They fit smaller, and replacing the leather on the inside with whatever that new material is was a terrible design choice. It literally sticks to my socks and pulls them down into the shoe, making them completely useless for skating or anything else. Plus the checker tag on the side makes them look like some bootlegs from Payless. Please go back to the old design. And bring back the Pro Skate Mid while you're at it.Sincerely,A disappointed customer that's been wearing Vans for over 30 years.... Pretty Legit good job vans
I skate and these out of the box were really nice it kinda sucks to put them on (as all high-tops do) but the skate version is so much better than the normal because the soles are thicker but still have the great board feel and better toe caps and there are the toe and other parts of the shoe have suede so they are way more durable when doing tricks and scraping across that griptape. I personally dont skate them tho because i strictly skate slip-ons because i always break laces so these are just for style for me and I absolutely love them. This pair was gifted to me so it probably wont say verified buyer but whatever. Good work vans.... Show more

RIP Sk8 Hi Pro
The Sk8 Hi Pro was perfect. This Skate version is an absolute piece of garbage. The sole is too stiff. The inside elastic on the interior is uncomfortable and restrictive. The fit is all wrong, skinny , stretched out.The weight is crazy heavy, almost like a boot. The sued is cheap, and thin.Bottom line I returned these, they are unusable as skate shoes.Whatever design team was in charge of this shoe needs to go make basketball shoes because you ruined, i say ruined a classic.... They Fit and Feel Just Like the Pros, w/ small "adjustment"
After getting my first pair of pro hi tops a few months ago, I loved it and wanted another pair, to my dismay they are no longer available so I ended up ordering these. The only main change I noticed was the elastic tongue straps on the side that make the tongue stick to your foot far too tightly. It didn't numb my foot or anything but I loved the feel of the pros and the way they fit regardless of the tongue. So I ended up cutting off the elastics and now they fit just like the pros. These are awesome! Wish they made more colors in the skate variants as the classic ones are way too uncomfortable.... Show more
