Awesome style and comfort but they fell apart

My son absolutely loves these shoes. He is VERY particular on the way his shoes and clothes feel and these passed every test. So I splurged and spent the high price tag. But they fell apart in two places where the material is mesh-like. He still wears them but I find this unacceptable for expensive shoes. There is reinforcement (I assume for skateboarding) in certain areas of the shoes but it isn't enough for an active kid running around all the time. The mesh material is too thin and caused holes way too soon. I am really bummed because he loves them but I can't justify the cost when they only last a few months.

My daughter had begged for these in white and I finally gave in. I made sure to buy the stain protector spray and pretreat them before she ever wore them. After the second time wearing them she got some dirt on them and I tried rinsing them to get the dirt off. That didn't work. I used a toothbrush with a baking soda mixture and that didn't work. I tried stain remover, that didn't work. I tried a bleach mixture and that didn't work. As a last ditch effort I washed them in the washing machine with white vinegar. None of this worked. Dirt gets trapped between the mesh and fabric part and will not come out. It's very disappointing because my daughter LOVED these shoes and thinks they're super comfortable.

Let me start off my saying I love the extra cushioning Vans has finally added to some of their shoes! I love the old school but they were always hard on my feet and my back over time. The exos have already proven their greatest strength in their ability to keep my back from hurting as well as my feel staying comfortable. Not to mention the fact that they are so lightweight makes them easy to travel with. To make it better, I was in search of a casual shoe that still spoke professionally and everyday wear. These shoes are excellent for me in that capacity. Now, as much as I love these, I do have a few areas where I wish they could have expanded on. The most major one would be the ability for easy scuffing/ruining of the outer sole. For the price I bought these for, I was hoping for a bit more durability. I feel that, if Vans had chosen to use their typical outer souls material from their Old Skool shoes, I wouldn't have felt so upset about marks in the shoes. This makes me worried for their longevity and makes me wonder if I can even wear them casually now, since that is often for me.

First pair of Vans and pleasantly surprised.
23 February 2023

I tried on a pair of skateboard style vans and they were so flat I thought these would be the same. They were not! The soles are so squishy! I have a high arch, and they actually support it nicely. I am not a skateboarder. I wear them as casual sneakers and at the gym when I'm going weights or machines (not running). The reason I couldn't go with 5 stars is the heel. The shoes are digging into my heels! I can't wear a low cut sock with them at all (yet at least). I've had to wear a low cut sock with a heel tab and a band aid to have any relief. BUT the rest of the shoe is so comfortable, I'm honestly ok with it. A friend has told me about a guard (of sorts) that I can get to put in there - she said it's kind of a common thing with vans? Again, still happy with them, ... MoreI tried on a pair of skateboard style vans and they were so flat I thought these would be the same. They were not! The soles are so squishy! I love the black/gold (it's actually black/lime green - i guess the "gold" is the bit of sole that shows?). Happy customer all around.

A friend of mine has 7 pairs of Ultrarange EXO's. I was looking for a replacement for my Converse. Just kick around shoes. The Converse have literally no arch support and at 67yo I need that! He indicated that the Ultraranges need to be broken in and he is right. I haven't had them that long (maybe 2 weeks) but they are starting to feel better - not as tight. He indicated they will stretch to your foot and mold to the arch the more they're worn. We spent 3 days in Vegas (a lot of walking) and I noticed a huge improvement over the Converse. On another note, he feels the other Vans shoes are not sized the same so if you like the Ultrarange EXO's a different style may not fit the same.Gave 4 stars and not 5 because of the break-in period although that may be a ... MoreA friend of mine has 7 pairs of Ultrarange EXO's. Hold up to lots of wear and tear!
29 March 2023

My kids have uniforms at school and are required to wear black shoes. They also do a lot of running around on their field/black top/outdoor basketball court/riding bikes and scooters in the street. They destroy shoes. Expensive shoes, cheap shoes, they last maybe a month and a half before they look terrible and have holes. Even their standard Vans - which aren't proffered by their school's dress code. These shoes are absolutely the best and we recommend them to all our friends. My second son got a new pair in August at the start of the school year and we just replaced them at the end of February! Six months of everyday constant and rough use is better than any pair of shoes they've worn. They aren't "cheap" as they're in adult sizes and the black with white rarely go on sale, but worth every penny. Highly recommend.

One of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn
22 February 2023

*First off let me say as a warning to anyone looking into these shoes and doing research and reading reviews... DO NOT BUY THESE SHOES.*I have been buying and wearing vans my entire adult life. Started in high school and have bought vans and worn then until they nearly disintegrate ever since. I had my eyes on these shoes for a while because I think they look really nice. Reviews seemed promising and the thought of the classic vans style with more support and comfort seemed like it could be "the perfect shoe".Holy cow was I wrong. I have only had these shoes for TWO DAYS and they are absolutely MISERABLE. Walking in them, every step feels like they are going to literally tear my heel off my body. I got the same size I wear every shoe in and compared to my authentics they aren't THAT much of a difference size-wise on the outside. I put an insert in my shoes to see if that would help and it sort of fixed the heel problem but made my toes even more crushed. They are already mildly squished in there to begin with. The right shoe also seems to give me a sharp sensation on my Achilles tendon as if I was literally being pierced or scraped with something. I try to feel around with my fingers and literally can't seem to find out what it is, but when I wear them it's like the shoes are actively trying to harm me.The last time I had shoes this horrible and uncomfortable was like when I was a kid and had to wear cheap dress shoes for Easter or something like that. If I could rate these shoes a half a star I would. If I could rate them zero stars I would. I actually desperately tried to break them in some to make them more tolerable. I literally folded the shoes in half and stacked books on top of them and sat them there over night to try to accelerate the "break-in" process. Boy does that suck. I shouldn't HAVE to do that for a shoe to even be wearable. If there was one good thing I could say about them, I still think these are good looking shoes. So there, have your one star for style. Eat my shorts vans, these are terrible. DO NOT BUY!

Stunning! I'm ecstatic!

Let me try to be concise. I'm 50. Last year at this time I was in a boot due to an Achilles issue that just surprisingly arose. Because of that, I do need to be a bit cautious and careful about my shoe selection.I saw that Vans had the ComfyCush, and that intrigued me. Then I learned about the Ultrarange line. I had to go try a pair to see if there was any way in the world a regular Vans shoe could work for me still (I haven't worn Vans regularly since my injury).I tried on the best looking Ultrarange Exo I saw (blue, blue, white, and gold). It was amazing...immediately. They are snug and supportive. I felt absolutely solid walking in one in the store. It was amazing...immediately. They are snug and supportive. I felt absolutely solid walking in one in the store. It was a world apart from the casual shoes I walked in with.I've only been wearing them less than a week, so this may seem premature...but that's how confident these shoes make me. I've been wearing them without inserts without difficulty and, remarkably, without pain. I used to have to relieve pressure in (crack) my ankles all the time. The instance of needing to do that has gone way down. When I take them off at the end of the day, even walking around our hardwood floors barefoot feels easier. It's almost like being a kid again. I don't have to worry about these shoes. They just keep being awesome! They are snug. This isn't a problem if you both get the right size and change the shoelaces to the elastic kind. I initially changed the shoelaces for the silicon kind, which have some stretch. That was tolerable, but there was a slight pinch at times. Now I've moved on to dark blue elastic shoelaces. They look like what the shoe came with, but they have some give with that elastic. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to feel that pinch ever again. Just the regular snug and solid support. It's not like walking on a cloud. It's kind of like walking on a thick rubber mat.I can't recommend these enough! I'm ecstatic about them. Even my step count is up since I got these.

I’ve been wearing these kicks for over 2 years and currently am on my fourth pair… it’s really hit or miss with the sizing so I’d recommend trying on before you buy. 2 out of my 4 pairs were awesome and lasted upwards of 8 to 9 months before ripping on the soft fabric. I give them a daily beating 5 to 6 times a week doing function fitness too so was super impressed. The other 2 not so much as these would have lasted 2 maybe 3 months tops before hitting the same fate. Would never buy full price either, price has definitely went up from $139.95 to the current $159.95 which I simply don’t see the value in considering the hit and miss in durability.Still my absolute favourite shoe nonetheless, lightweight and breathable and suitable to do all function movements in. ... MoreI’ve been wearing these kicks for over 2 years and currently am on my fourth pair… it’s really hit or miss with the sizing so I’d recommend trying on before you buy. 2 out of my 4 pairs were awesome and lasted upwards of 8 to 9 months before ripping on the soft fabric. These are cool sneakers. I am not sure if I should've stayed with the classic that i had at 9 years old back in 1975. They fit good but it's like looking for the Levis Jeans. I must go through several pair before I find the fit. They felt a little tight because I wear a men's 12 Medium. But the 12've after wearing them in the Gym got too loose. Tried on the 11 and a half and they were perfect. It depends because this pair feels perfect on the Right but slightly tighter on the left. But not enough to try on more.
