Veja Esplar Leather Extra White

Looove these! It took a couple of tries to find the right Vejas for me size-wise and style wise but these are worth the wait. They’re not intended to be athletic obviously but I don’t find them uncomfortable at all. The tongue is a little higher than others but not a bother.

I bought these Veja Esplar in white/maroon yesterday at Bloomingdales and had done all the research regarding the fit and lack of comfort from all the online reviews. My usual shoe size is 10 and I purchased the 10/41 which is true to size. Even though I knew the shoes would need breaking in and not be super comfortable from day one I still made the purchase because I love how they look. Yes, the tongue is very stiff and not padded so it does cut into your ankle. My solution was to tie the shoes normally until the last hole and I tied that part UNDER the tongue and then brought the lace over the tongue. That completely lifts the tongue away from your ankle and solves that problem. My solution was to tie the shoes normally until the last hole and I tied that part UNDER the tongue and then brought the lace over the tongue. That completely lifts the tongue away from your ankle and solves that problem. I have been wearing the shoes constantly since yesterday, have bent and twisted them to soften everything and added a thin, cushion insert. I have to say now after only one day the shoes are now completely comfortable. So for those of you willing to break them in and customize them to your foot you will love wearing them as they go with everything. These are definitely not running shoes but for style and walking they are perfect!

Shoes arrived with couple stains and laces all twisted, so I doubt they are new. I ordered my usual size, but the length is so long that I have to tie the laces all the way to the last set of holes to avoid my feet from sloshing out when I walk. I would definitely size down, but they're out of stock for that size:(( As for comfort, they are pretty uncomfortable. Maybe I need to break into them more, but they are very stiff and thin (the soles especially). The materials are thinner than cardboard, but they are pretty cute.
