Ripstop is an aptly named fabric. It, well, resists tears due to its special mesh-shaped pattern of intertwined yarns of different thicknesses. So adding it to a shoe is downright genius, especially if that shoe might be rubbing up against rock faces, rugged trails, or anything else requiring a solid technical performance.
