Right now, can't rate. Have trouble installing 2 programs on my new Windows 11 pc wiith this. Discs spin & stop, nothing shows up on screen, One, being a brand new one. Not understanding why they won't work. Disappointing, especially for the price. Was so hoping to be able to put these on new pc, to continue using the programs.

External Blu ray writer

Plug and play as it should be. Connected to a type C port and it appears in file explorer. The unit does come with type A to type C adapter as well. I felt the cable that came with the unit was too short, around 15cm, so I bought a 1m c to c cable so I could use the type C port on the back of my PC and still have it within comfortable reach. So far it has burnt a couple of DL blu rays, a blu ray rewritable and played back some music CD's. Very good price from the seller and now allows me to access my stack of old cd's, dvd's, and blu rays. Upgraded my PC with a Phantek 600s case(no internal bay for blu ray drive!) and I'd already given my old PC to my grandson. Learnt my lesson now though.

Finally, a sturdy case for external dvd player

When my new computer did not have an installed dvd player/writer, I had to buy an external drive. I went through three flimsily cased dvd that had problems from the start. None lasted more than a year.I found this dvd writer/player on Staples, and it looked like it had a decent case.When I received it, I was pleased with the case, as it was made of metal and was heavier and more solid that the lightweight plastic, easily damaged ones.This one cost twice as much, but it's worth it. Time will tell.When it opens and closes, the sound of the mechanism sounds pretty solid, not plastic clicks. The door is plastic, yes. But overall I like this writer/player.

Ok for a plug and play

It's no where near as fast as the internal drives on my desk top. but it's the only alternative for the new junk computers. all of my desktops have two built in drives. one dual layer DVD recorder and one Blue Ray Recorder. to me, that's the only way to go. the only regret i have with my desktop is downgrading to windows 10. now my games won't work any more.

Terrible Instructions (Requires 3rd Party Software)

The first DVD Player that the salesperson sold me was a read-only device so I had to take it back. It was a Verbatim. Then, the store sold me another, cheaper device that could read the DVD. However, it would not run without downloading third party software. The documentation did not indicate this anywhere, nor did it recommend software that was compatible. Then, when I tried to play it on a Zoom meeting, there was no audio. This was a total waste of money and with a computer science background, I can't imagine what the average person would do. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Verbatim External USB 3.2 All-in-One Optical Write

I am no longer computer literate. This was almost plug and play. The manual is in very small print which gives me a little problem. I did get it up and operating. I haven't done everything with it yet, but it appears to be what I need. I may need to get more software. Verbatim products have always been good to me, so I hope that will continue.

Nice slim, portable and high quality Blu-ray writer. No drivers are required, just plug and play! Also came bundled with some archival software that seems alright.Keep in mind that as of Intel 11th Gen CPUs, you are unable to decode DRM protected Blu-rays without the help of special software such as PowerDVD.

bought for ripping

I bought this to rip DVDs I own to my computer for preservation purposes and the read rate is very slow. my computer is high end and I have it connected properly and it still doesn't rip the stated speed. It reads very slow. I don't run any other programs while ripping and it takes 15-20 min to copy 5gb. If this isn't what you want to do it works great.
