packaging is nice. no online verification if it's orig. transfer speed is 10 MB/s. but why the device properties is in toshiba name? fat32 format arrived to me and then i reformat it into NTFS.

Connection cord too short

Decent enough storage drive, but for the price you'd think they'd give you a longer connection cord, it's only 6 inches. So when it's in use it basically dangles from the computer at the front or back. Not the best for computer towers, better suited to laptops or usb hubs.

Does the trick

This portable hard drive is compatible with Windows Vista (which I still use) and is plug and play. It works like a dream. So far so good after only one computer backup. This item was sold out at my local Staples outlet but I ordered online in the store to have it delivered early the following morning. I could not ask for better service.

Good Product

I purchased this product, because I was pleased with a past purchase of a 2T Verbatim portable hard drive. I am very pleased, once again, with my purchase of this 1T Verbatim portable hard drive for my new laptop. They are easy to use just plug and go.

Good Points: Thinner than previous drives, but cable too s hort.Improvement Points: Cable much shorter than my previous six (various makes) external HDDs, so had to rejig setup of those to accommodate this one! About 6 inches is too short. Also it should be noted upfront that it is set for FAT32 - which means only files of less than 4GB can be saved. Wasted too much time originally in copying 600GB contents from a Buffalo drive (like others, received formatted in NTFS, so no problem! ) -before being informed that it couldn't copy certain files as they were too large. Had to learn about problem, wipe all files, reformat in NTFS and start again. New learning curve at 81 years old. Many users would not know how to sort this out!
