I love everything Eric Carle so this was a must. I think at the moment I enjoy it more than bub. It’s a durable box, the caterpillar can be a little hard to push back in, but pleased with my purchase

I just purchased two of these for grandkids. They are sturdy - which often isn't the case with jack-in-the box toys. The catepillar jumps out with a strong bump, the musical handle is sturdy - colorful - basically, it is a Great toy.
I was really excited to get this as it brought back a lot of my childhood memories and I wanted to share the experience with my son. When we got it home The handle was broken and the little caterpillar didn’t pop up. It was pretty poor quality too for the price... pretty disappointing really.

We bought this for my baby when she was 7 months old. At first, she did not care for the jack-in-the-box, and would pout and hit the verge of tears when the bug would pop up. My husband urged me to send it back. Fast forward two months. I had the colorful bug sitting open for a few weeks, and would let the baby touch him and I'd play the music WHILE the lid was already open. Now that she is 9 months I decided to go for it again, and have the jack-in-the-box pop-up. She LOVED it. She laughed, and I must have repeated the activity a hundred times by now. So the moral of the story is: Give the baby time. Not all babies will like this, but also they may not be ready for the element of surprise yet. I'm glad I stuck with it! This is adorable with good musical sound, but the latch does not release to allow the caterpillar to pop up. I had purchased this for my grandson, but had to return it. Buy Buy Baby is a great company to deal with- the return was free.
