Vex Robotics Robotic Arm
Build the Robotic Arm from over 350 VEX Robotics pieces! Have you ever wondered how industrial robots work? You know, the kind of robots that work on assembly lines building other complex pieces of machinery? Now you can unlock the mystery behind these sophisticated robots by building one of your own! Exclusively from HEXBUG comes the VEX Robotics Robotic Arm - a completely functional construction kit inspired by real industrial robot arms. The Robotic Arm can raise objects up to 14 inches by twisting the "left" hand knob forward and backward. It also extends out to 10 inches by twisting the "right" hand knob forward and backward. by turning the dial on the rear of the Arm will allow you to pick up many common household objects using the claw! The whole crane can rotate 360 degrees, allowing this miniature robot to perform the complex actions of its real life counterpart.

Bought to entertain a younger generation and to use in a competition to lift sweets from one dish to another. The finished product is quite solid, but the assembly instructions are not entirely clear and the base is very awkward to put together. There are some spare fasteners left over, which is useful. This version is not motorised, but controlling it with the 3 handwheels is easy enough. Motors could be added at a later date.

Ever wanted or needed a third arm? This is it!My 11-year-old nephew and I had a great time assembling this robotic arm. We played, then took it all apart, downloaded the instruction for the scorpion http://link.vex.com/help/pdf/robotic-arm/scorpionan then scared his mom with it. LOL.

Grandson and husband love this. The Robotic Arm took a week to complete, there are many small pieces. My husband, son and grandson (5 years old) all took part in building this. They all agreed it was fun to build. The arm works great, with hours of fun. My grandson has built several Vex products, he enjoys the challenge of building anything.

I bought this for my 14 year old grandson and he loved putting it together. The instructions are for the crane but you have to go online for the alternate builds available. Good Educational toy.
My 9 year old grandson's eyes "bugged out" when he saw it. He LOVES building this type of thing . His dad is a systems engineer and we got excited too. I know they will have fun building it. Great price also
Very fun challenge for my 11 year old. He enjoyed learning about gear ratios and the math behind them. Only complaint is that some plastic pieces have to hold the torque and are prone to snapping.
Got thsi for my kids and neohew when if sent on sale. Its good quality and believe its used at school for robitics. Obviously it isnt super expensive and intended for preteens, so dont buy it expect it to be extrodinary.
I got into the VEX ecosystem a couple of years ago for my kids Christmas gift. I saw this robotic arm on sale and it was too good a deal to pas up. It is a fun build with basic engineering concepts to explain to my young kids. The first one we built was a launching toy. I am glad this one does not launch projectiles across the room. No parts to loose this time.
My son enjoyed putting this together. He learned a little about mechanics in the process. Calling it a robotic arm seems a little misleading. There are no motors or programming to get the arm to move by itself that makes me think robotics. So keep that in mind when purchasing.
It was a gift. However, it was difficult to assemble and needed a father and a mechanical engineer, who actually works with cranes, to assist to boys in the assembly of the crane. It is not robotic it is more like a coin operated crane that picks up toys at local stores or carnivals.
