First of all, I'd like to say that I ordered them with a great deal of hesitancy due to how many reviews I read about the sizing. I went with my gut and ordered my size of 44 and found that they fit like a glove. I haven't gotten them wet yet but, I'm not sure I plan to. If I would have ordered them a size larger, I may have been disappointed by the fit. My last pair was not the hemp ones and I've had them for over ten years. I've been due for a new pair for a while. I seed the old pair up several times after snagging them on things that easily you're them but these new hemp ones feel a lot more durable. Just as light weight as the old ones and great traction. I'm going they come out with something in the future with a thinner sole for a more complete grounding ... I give these a rating of 4 because of their sizing, which I see as a common complaint for Vibram. To this I say, do not give up on Vibram. I have several pair of Vibram's and have been buying them for over a decade. Every pair I've worn I wore until I broke them down. Vibram however, in my experience, continues supporting the structural balance (the affect goes way beyond muscle and bone effecting every organ as well) of the body due to it's natural design. If you truly understood what is happening with your body when wearing flip flops, sneakers, high heels etc., you'd never wear them again. Our bodies are designed in the most miraculous and natural ways; the closer we stay to our natural state the healthier we are.Back to sizing: The casual Hemp shoe is amazing, they are my "lazy" shoes, I use them like people use flip flops, something to throw on and go. The sizing chart says to go up a size, I began wearing a 42 when I purchase my first pair of Vibram, so I went up to a 43 for the Hemp. I can wear the shoe comfortably without socks, though are a little tight. I bought another pair and went up to 44 and I can wear them with socks, though a little loose. All other Vibram's (I have 5 pair for different uses) have fit perfectly, and other than the rare occasion, Vibram is the only shoe I wear. So, if you buy some that don't fit right, don't complain, just try another size or a different type of shoe. The company is wonderful and very supportive. You can tell they are not just selling shoes and that they are focused on the healing benefit for their customers.

I've had these Hemps for five or six years now. I don't run much anymore but do a lot of urban/suburban walking and light hiking. These shoes are super comfortable, feels like walking through thick carpet. Some harder surfaces like pavement or marble flooring do make my feet a bit sore after a while, but no blisters. Occasionally at work or in public people will think I'm actually barefoot, and are intrigued when I show them off and describe the minimalist/barefoot philosophy. They look good with my khakis and blue jeans. This style runs small; I usually wear men's 9W and I got these in 42 which fit fine bare or with thin toe socks. After all this time they're still intact, no separation from the soles, but the edging on the decorative part of the upper is ... This is my second pair of VFFs; my first were green/gray KSOs that I ran into the ground a long time ago. These are a bit thin so in the winter or in bad weather I just wear them around the house. I just ordered a pair of military green/grey V-Treks to hopefully wear more in colder weather and to give the Hemps a break.

I am a light weight athlete, no long runs or heavy cross training. And the use of the vibram shoe for just a few hours a day has helped me to recruit more muscle in the foot and leg to help me overcome injuries, compensation and overuse patterns that are the outcome of a torn knee ligament 40 years ago. That is worth the price. I have been wearing them for 2 weeks and look forward to the long term effects. There is a certain learning curve to getting them on all 5 toes.
I've been wearing Five Fingers since they first came to the U.S. and had only three models (including what is now called the Classic and is also an excellent shoe). The CVT Hemp is an outstanding shoe. Good fit. Good wear. The day after I got it I went on a four mile walk on the Hudson River Parkway and the High Line. The shoes were great.
I love CVT-Hemp FiveFingers. They're my everyday shoes for three seasons. I'm on my second pair now, having pretty much worn out my first pair which I still use for yard work, etc. My first pair lasted 2-3 years, which is very reasonable. If I could make two improvements--which apply to other FiveFingers I own or have owned as well--they would be:* Make the fabric between the toes waterproof or at least somewhat water-resistant. My toes get wet if there is even a minimal amount of water on the ground surface. (I'm not talking about walking through puddles.)* Make the fabric between the toes--especially the side of the big toe--stronger. That seems to be the place I wear through the fastest on FiveFingers. I had put off buying five finger shoes for awhile... I wish I hadn't. Not going to lie you have to ease into them. If you have never worn this type of shoe, it will take time for you legs to get use too them. But after about a month I was running the trails. Being a massage therapist I have told people for years the shoes they wear are ruining there body. I use to have too work my legs out all the time, but when I started wearing these I stopped. My upper and lower legs changed. They have never had this type of development. They look amazing. After countless walks with my son I finally wore them out. It was actually a proud feeling more then a disappointment. My toes have spread out my joints have never felt better. They increased my lower body balance and ... My upper and lower legs changed. They have never had this type of development. They look amazing. After countless walks with my son I finally wore them out. It was actually a proud feeling more then a disappointment. My toes have spread out my joints have never felt better. They increased my lower body balance and flexibility. My toes became incredibly strong to the point that I was able to just leap almost 6-7 feet forward with only my toes!! Sure some people may question wearing these shoes but it's normally people who have not put the time and training into wearing them. It takes time everyday for about a solid month. When I first started my calves had never been more sore! But that is the point I was finally using my muscles in my legs to move not walking around on my heals like everyone wearing Nikes and so on... they are a great work out in themselves. You will have legs that most people just dream about having and joint pain quickly starts to go away after about a month. If you are an older person who has not worn these types of shoes it will probably take awhile to get use to them but it's because the damage the she's you have worn your whole life have caused. These shoes force you to walk the way humans were made too walk. I use to have planter fasciitis. Now that is no longer a problem and my feet are ripped. My toes grew muscles that I didn't know was possible. It's sad to see these shoes go I'm happy I just ordered 2 more pairs sometimes small feet do pay off 🙂
I purchased some vibram 5 fingers a few years ago... I could never get the right size/comfort and gave up. Well, I gave one more try with the CVT hemp a year ago. I purchased my first pair and wore them religiously... the comfort is amazing... work, play, rest, walk... they are great casual footwear for day to day use. I occasionally run in them on a treadmill ( usually 5:30 one mile or around a 12:00 two mile) and I lift weights in them (no squats, just leg machines). The durability of the shoe is pretty good. Bot of mine are holding up strong. I expected them to fall apart givin the bottom feels like foam and I was willing to accept that for comfort considering paying around $80-100 for footwear is not cheap. I enjoyed them so much I decided to purchase a second ... MoreI purchased some vibram 5 fingers a few years ago... I could never get the right size/comfort and gave up. I enjoyed them so much I decided to purchase a second pair in the black color (I originally had the tan) so they'd be more discreet. Recently I ordered two more pairs for myself and a third pair for my wife recently (cvt hemp)... the collection is growing !I'd recommend anyone...especially those with foot issues to give these a try. My wife has a pair and as a nurse with bunions, these allow the foot to function more naturally and take pressure off the tops and sides of the foot. She's now a believer after feeling like I was wasting money on an atrocious and aesthetically unappealing shoe... beauty is the eye of the beholder of course :-P They are starting to appear a little beautiful to her... at first they weirded her out. I've run into such bias as well.
I am posting this in the hopes that the 5 Finger folks will read it and take my suggestion. I would rate this between a 4 and 5. They are very comfortable. But, If you get them wet like when watering the plants or filling the bird bath, you are going to feel wet feet for awhile as they take a long time to dry out. I think an ideal fix would be to put the V-alpha upper material on a CVT sole. These are more comfortable than my V-Alphas, but when the V-Alphas get wet, they seem to be able to dry more quickly. The other thing that I don't know what you would do that wouldn't compromise their comfort is the sole is soft enough that when I walk in the weedy yard, stickers penetrate into the sole and hang on and then come out on the rug or bath mat in the house and wait ... So I don't wear them at the time of year the sticker weeds are going to seed.
These were the first vibrams I ever purchased/wore. Now have around a dozen. Unfortunately, I can no longer wear these because of the midsole. When transitioning from mid foot toe toes it leaves one feeling like they are walking in only what I can imagine high heels to be like. Am now used to the KSO EVO, KSO ECO, etc and have had to relegate these to the back of the closet, covered with dog hair from lack of use. These really would be superb if Vibram would simply pull the midsole out. Wanted to get the leather ones for working at the hospital but now like the feel of walking flat on the ground. As far as recommending, maybe to someone transitioning to vibrams, but once a VFF fan, you'd wa t to pass.
