Personally, for me, the only way I can shake a chesty cough is with good steam inhalation. Vicks is the best brand for these inhalers. Such a safe way to use. Easy to take away on holiday. Simple to use. I wash this in the dishwasher after use. Vick's is a great brand we also use the Vapo rub on younger children as its easy to rub on the chest before bed. Or use in unison with the Steam inhaler.

This product was purchased during the height of my sinus infection season. I put hot tap water in the basin and started inhaling the steam. The mentholated pods really help to open those nasal passages. This is a household gem right here. Very reasonably priced, worth every dollar too. Thank you Vicks you were needed. Highly recommend this product.

This actually seems to work better than the plug in version. It works a little better if you heat the hot tap water in a microwave if you are not afraid of working with hotter water. Once you place the water in the inhaler, it's ready for use immediately. Yes, the water does cool down over time, but you should be finished with your treatment by then. It doesn't lose heat quickly though. The steam also doesn't get too hot if you had an issue with the electric heated version. Adding the Vicks pads is nicer, but not necessary. The mask is not flexible, but still fairly comfortable. I also doubt that lime scale would be a problem either since it's basically just a cup of hot water. In all, I'd highly suggest that you give it a try especially if you found the electric ... MoreThis actually seems to work better than the plug in version. I've had an electric steamer before for allergies and infections and found that it was too hot, I know that sounds silly but I'd have to keep backing off to cool down. This Vicks Inhaler is much, much better in that respect as the steam will never be as intense. I like not having to plug anything in or having a giant heavy steamer either, this is light and portable and the steam is helpful. It doesn't last very long but the pads are great and offer some extra relief or at least make the experience of breathing it in nice!
Used this product to help clear my own and my son's stuffy noses before bedtime, and felt that it definitely led to better onset of sleep, especially for my son, who isn't good at blowing his nose. It was ideal for my son, as he'd been too afraid to use our electric steamer because of the noise, heat and steam. The only downside is that only 2 fragrance pads are supplied with the inhaler. If they are expensive or not easy to get hold of, then I guess an aromatherapy oil could be used instead.
I was really happy to receive this product, as a mum of 5 stuffy kids and hay-fever sufferer, it's been a great help. It's really easy to use and is very effective. I like the size of it and its portability. I prefer a menthol scent although you can have lavender and rosemary but this wouldn't suit me.All in all it's a good product, how much it would cost to replace the scent pads is dependant on how much I would use this in the future but it's a decent little product.
I was excited about this item as my son and I have had colds for what seems an eternity. I honestly thought this would be a great way to unblock both of us.However! As lovely as it smelt, my son refused to have it near him. I used it, but it all honesty I could have just used a bowl with some essential oils in it to unblock me.Don't get me wrong, this would be great to take away with you, but I don't expect to be getting a cold on holiday, and with a price tag of £10 and then £8 for the refill tabs, it's quite steep for what it actually offers. This isn't something I'd recommend, but if you travel a lot then yes it is easier than a bowl of water. But right now, in the climate we are in, the price is ridiculous.
The inhaler is a good concept. The oils provide a noticeable smell which can help clear a blocked nose. However, it is difficult to know how hot the water should be when adding to the inhaler.Once the water cools down the effectiveness of the oils is reduced and the water cannot be reheated.Overall a good product to help clear sinus issues and blocked noses.
This is a terrific vaporizer. Either add just water or add a drop of tea tree oil or some Vicks and breathe the air. It loosens the congestion and makes it easier to eliminate the mucous. I would use it for a child as well. My husband has been using this for 4 months due to a congestive complication he encountered due to immunotherapy. Slowly this is working.
I purchased this cold and flu season and it works very well. The steam is really powerful. You do need to use extremely hot water. I chose to use water that I boiled on the stove. However, if you use as directed and inhale, it works extremely well. I would absolutely recommend this product. Just a note it is not an electric device. You will have to boil water, in order to create the vapor you will also need to place you nose close to the opening.
