I give 5 star as it has unbeatable on-sale price + good quality. It is a durable. If the interior can get polishing it would be a perfect pot for me. Considering its price, I can accept the a bit rough interior finishing. The size is perfect for 2~3 persons. It has a wide cooking surface, which gives enough space for spatula to turn the food inside. It is of sole iron without fragile enamel coating. You won't abuse it to make any damage on daily usage. Enameled cast iron pot can easily get chipped if you don't treat carefully. Some customers complain about it becomes rusty at the first time use. My solution is here: Yes the lid becomes rusty at my 1st time use and it looks really ugly. But don't worry ! When it is still very hot, I spray cooking oil on the interior surface of lid, make the oil to evenly cover it. The issue does not happen again. Oil, Oil, Oil. This is the tip!

An excellent little stock pot/ Dutch Oven. Not terribly heavy, and it worked like a charm right out of the box. I look forward to much Kitchen Witchery as I try new recipes in my lovely little pot! 💖

it's a shame that people don't have the first clue how to treat Cast Iron: IF it rusts, you're probably using acidic contents (tomatoes, sauces or otherwise, vinegar) which you should moderate. IF it rusts, you're probably not cleaning and seasoning it properly after EVERY USE. There's a wealth of information regarding cast iron care, before bashing the brand or the product, be certain that you arent the problem

Disappointed that this was not seasoned properly. It was rusted upon arrival, especially the inside of the lid. I was cooking and went to check the food and picked up the lid and it was completely covered in rusty condensation. That rust water went into the food. No thanks. I attempted to remove the rust but can't re-season in my apt due to sensitive fire alarms. Very disappointed as 4qt is the perfect size for me. I have a whole cast iron set with pieces 20yrs old and none like this.
Shipped fast, but it’s inferior cast iron. No matter what I do to season. Etc. , it shows rust spots. I have researched the process to make sure I handles it correctly. I did. Junk, I’d return if I still had the packaging…..going to the. dump
love the Victoria line of cast iron products. I find them to be reliable, sturdy, and easy to clean. On my first use with the Dutch oven, I made a tomato based dish (usually a no-no for brand new cast iron because the acidity of the tomatoes can ruin the seasoning). I was already halfway through the recipe when I remembered, so I figured, "I've already gotten this far. Might as well just keep going."Well, the Dutch oven responded beautifully and the seasoning was not affected at all. It was an easy clean, as well! Even easier than the cast iron skillets, in my opinion. The pan holds heat exceptionally well and brings the flavors of whatever meal I'm cooking together fabulously. Don’t go by the negative reviews. You really need to have researched cast iron cookware regarding proper care!!! If you have knowledge and/or experience with cast iron cookware you’ll enjoy fine and love this line. If you are accustomed to seasoning and the proper care this piece is no different and will last you for ages. Maintain the seasoning properly and you’ll have omelets slide out!Wonderful, healthy, easy cooking! Love it.
This is a great dutch oven. I may be a bit rough when you first get it but all you need to do is use, clean it, dry it, warm it on a burner then season it with your oil of choice, (I use Crisco). With time and use the pot gets smoother and easier to clean. I have found this to be the case with all of my Victoria cast iron skillets griddles and dutch ovens. I've baked bread in it and roasted chicken several times. Victoria cast iron is, in my opinion, on par with Lodge cast iron. Once their pans are well seasoned they get smoother than Lodge. The lid seals well and has these self-basting spikes that allow steam to condense and drip into the food to keep it moist. One thing I would mention - smooth cast iron is all fine and well, but it's not the be all to end all. ... MoreThis is a great dutch oven. Too many people get a cast iron skillet, season it and the first thing they cook is an egg. If it sticks, the pan is no good or a fail. It takes time and use to get modern cast iron to have a nice smooth finish. Even if it's not smooth you can still cook an egg it it. It takes heat control and good cooking technique.
I specifically chose this cast iron pot for sourdough bread baking. The 4 qt size is perfect (and hard to find). I also wanted an all cast iron pot rather than an enamel-coated one because the high temps will eventually ruin the enamel finish. This fits the bill perfectly. Recommended.
I love cast iron and have many skillets made of it. This works beautifully on the stove top or in the oven. It's rather heavy though. More than I thought it would be. But, I don't want to detract from it's usefulness. I love it!
