I have owned and used numerous (and very expensive) Chef's Knives in my lifetime. That includes expensive forged knives from Henckels, Wsthof, Sabatier, Dexter, etc. This Victorinox 10" Chef's Knife is by far, THE SHARPEST KNIFE I have EVER Used. It is scary sharp and I love it. The fact that it costs a fraction of what the "Fancy Knives" cost is an added plus! I'll admit, it isn't real pretty and showy, but it more than makes up for it in Utility and Function!!

This is the top-rated chef's knife on America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Illustrated/Cooks Country. It's the one they use every day in the test kitchen. It's a steal at forty bucks. I got it on sale for thirty bucks. This one is for a friend that loves to cook. I've had mine for several years and it's still a great all-around chef's knife. It comes from the factory [same as the Swiss Army Knife] with a fifteen-degree edge. If you take care of it and keep it sharp it will serve you well.

Frist of all who ever did the packageing just found some boxes and taped them together. Box was to small for the knife with the guard on. So it tore at the blade point. Next the blade had a bunch of scratches on one side. Plus blade was not very sharp. Only good was shipping was fast. I think there are better choices out there for the money.

So far, it has easily sliced/chopped veggies, sliced meat and made easy work of slicing bread. Tried it on an over-ripe tomato yesterday and it sliced it as though the tomato were firm and ripe. Now I need to find a decent knife sharpener/honer to keep it nice and sharp.
This blade is thin and stamped. Not what I thought would show up carrying the Victorinox name. Not worth the money in my opinion. Handle had a nice feel to it.
This knife was recommended by America's Test Kitchens. It cuts through vegetables like butter. I was able to prep all my vegetables without having to stop and sharpen the blade. I sliced tomatoes so thin, I could see through them. I didn't have to puncture the skin to get a clean cut. I was able to dice my onions in record time and the pieces were uniform. I could actually mince them.
I'm a novice in the kitchen, I cook when I have to, and eat out a lot, but I decided it was finally time to get a new knife so I could actually cut things. So far, I've used it a few times and really like it, it's very sharp and easy to use. Cuts meat and vegetables like the proverbial butter, except maybe easier. Have already managed to cut myself too ;) I only wish I had purchased it earlier instead of persevering with my old knives.
We love them. We have 2 in our kitchen and constantly being used by myself and my husband. We give them as a bridal shower gift to all the nieces and nephews are getting married. They love it as well. Thank you.
This is my go to knife even though I have several high priced German knives. It always does the job that I need including slicing tomatoes. Like with any knife take care of it. Sharpen with your steel with each use and you won't be disappointed. The price is so reasonable. This model is the 2nd one I've purchased. Giving it as a gift.
it arrived quickly and was well packaged. it does have a very thin plastic shield over blade, i doubt it will last long. i have small hands, however the weight and balance are just right. it has very sharp cutting edge and no job has been too much for it. I would buy again.
