Another excellent product from Victorinox which I have added to my working collection. This model combines both the Swiss Champ with the Cyber tool model to make a complete all rounder.

First off, this is a pretty wide tool. However, not unwieldy. Ive found belt carry is the most comfortable...but perfectly pocketable. This is my go-to model for traveling and weekends. It packs practically an entire toolbox in your pocket. Its a good combination of a cybertool series and the swisschamp model...plus a few extras. No electrics to get wet or batteries to replace. Even the tools you didnt expect to use, youll end up discovering creative uses for them. In summary, you really cant go wrong with this tool. I have always loved and had the siss champ. This pas t Christmas I blessed myself with the XLT model. I didn't think it was worth it to jump a few more tools but I love this knife. It reminds me of the old Wenger Tool chest plus but better. The bit driver and bit holder is awesome and centered in the knife.

The XLT is awesome. It is a large size but still usable. It's smaller than the XXL and XAVT which are too big for practical EDC use (like twice the size of this). For starters, you will not be able to make a full fist around this as your knuckles would be angled (not 90 degrees) if that gives you an idea of handling it. But you can use all the functions and most with comfort and ease. The back-side tools" Hook, Awl, Corkscrew, 3mm flat screwdriver, and Chisel are the only somewhat awkward-to-use use tools but are still very usable.I couldn't decide between the Champ and Cybertool L (which I cannot find) and this offers everything they do plus 4 more functions. With that said, there is no Serrated edge or seatbelt cutter, no led light, no wrench, no doubled tools ... MoreThe XLT is awesome. But it essentially has all the other tools offered by Victoinox.Personally, I would like to see the pharmaceutical spatula, 3mm screwdriver, and fish scaler traded for a light. And the hook to have the textured file on the spine. And keep everything else. But those tools are still useful. The combi tool (can oner/bottle opener) would be a way to make it thinner too.Bottom line, this is a great value. It isn't awkward to carry nor too heavy. Be it clipped or chained. You'd be pleasantly surprised. If you are shorter than 5'11/6' then maybe you would want to avoid it based on hand size.
I have loved swiss army knives since I saw one on the show Macgyver and all the neat things he did with it. The xlt would make macgyver a god. It has everything. The only bigger knife you can get the xavt is too big and has two of many implements which is not useful. The xlt is still small enough to carry yet has so many functions. I got the sheath for it with compass and stone built into the sheath. It's better than I could ever imagine. Get yoursome today.
Beautiful knife, as all Victorinox knives are. Expensive, but it's like carrying a mini tool box with you. Gets used every day!
Great multi tool knife! I've been using mine since 2005. I replaced the toothpick with a fire stick and have substituted the eye glass repair screw driver with a fire ant stick and accompanying kindle. That being said, I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the spatula and wood chisel with a flashlight and compass and replace the current plier with an adjustable plier? I don't know if you do custom builds but the compass, flashlight and bigger pliers would make the XLT the knife dreams are made of!
I've had various SA knives over the years, but this one is the best. I occasionally get teased when I get it out to solve a problem, but it is a great problem solving tool which I use literally several times a day. In fact I check my pocket for this before checking for my phone! I came here to order a replacement because its getting tatty, and I feel like treating myself, but after 15 or 20 years of constant use it deserves retirement. Treat your self, you really won't be disappointed!
Some might find this just a bit too big with features that one would seldom use. The standard Swiss Champ would be enough for most users but, as a collector and user of these knives, I already have the XAVT monster and the standard Swiss Champ so I purchased the "in-between" model. I must admit that the transparent "Ruby" scales "look" fragile when compared to the opaque red versions but so far I have had no problems with these while I did crack one of the opaque red scales on my 30 year old Swiss Champ a number of years ago. I sent it in to be repaired and had the entire "SOS kit" refurbished as well. Came back looking like the day I bought it. As a wearer of eye-glasses, that little screwdriver is excellent for tightening up the hinge screws. The cork-screw?... It ... MoreSome might find this just a bit too big with features that one would seldom use. The small knife blade is wicked sharp.
Best combination ever made. I have used this in the city, jungle, desert and the snow.Am a Dr with CDC and travel the world. Would never leave this behind!!Great job guys.
