vidaXL - Raised Garden Bed Galvanised Steel - Brown - 100x100x45 cm

Planter box is made up of numerous smaller panels (12 panels in total and about a hundred screws) which take a very long time to assemble. Also, it is advertised as "galvanised" but the internal support inserts are made from rusty steel and painted grey. The steel panels aren't very thick so they are light but not very strong. The assembly instructions could have been clearer. I bought 3 of these and the first one took 3 hours to assemble. The others only took 1 hour to assemble.I gave 4 stars though because the product looks exactly like it does in the picture and assembly was relatively simple once you understand it. Also, the holes for the screws are aligned perfectly so although it took a long tie to assemble, the assembly was not difficult.

I personally found it bloody awkward. I didn't feel the instructions were very good. The gloves supplied for safety, I found useless, as you couldn't grip the tiny screws on the nuts, so I had to discard them resulting in a few scratches.Just to add to my misery, I had intended to assemble it on my back verandah, however, it rained, so I assembled it inside, then had a nightmare trying to get it out of the house, note to self, if inside check measure doorways. Overall it is what I paid for. The only surprise was that it does not have a bottom. After constructing it, that makes sense, but now I have to figure out containers that will fit inside of it to hold the dirt up off of my patio. I was planning to fill this planter with the dirt until there was no bottom. I like the way it looks and will buy more.

Box came in a little roughed up, few dents on some corner but able to bent it back and install with a little effort. Also has a few minor scratches on the paint but nothing major. A lot of screws to connect the panels so it took about 2 to 3 hours with a power screwdriver. Overall good value for the money. Shipping was fast.

Received two planters parts were missing from both I had to build the inside braces out off wood on the other one I had to purchase screws and use wood braces for it. Very cheep materials one off the planters collapsed while filling it with mulch the hole side tore out the metal was so thin. Never been so disappointed and wasted money and time on such cheep junk!

Extremely cheap material

I purchased this item and the good news is that it was delivered immediately. The bad news is that it is made of the cheapest quality material. The metal is so thin and flimsy that they actually give you a (cheap) pair of gloves to wear when handling the metal. I made it as far as taking the metal sheets out of the box along with a bag of what looked to be a million small screws. I put it all back in the back and returned it. No matter how many screws it takes, that metal box will not hold up.

I purchased one, and it was easy to build, and is sturdy enough for the soil required to fill it. I have since, purchased two more as Im so impressed, and I have seen these on other shopping apps for way more money, but are identical. When purchasing, remember they need a fair bit of soil to fill, but worth it as look amazing when planted up. They are a good heath so dont need to bend too much, or could use a stool to sit on when working on it. Cant praise the product enough, excellent purchase.

Poor Garden Bed

The metal rim of the bed was very thin and cheap looking, I bought two other smaller raised beds from Walmart that were of heavier construction; I have not decided to return the product yet, because I have not completely opened the box, and inspected the bed entirely, but seeing the packaging of the bed is half the size than the packaging of the other two heavier smaller raised beds; I am almost sure I am going to return it before I even assemble the bed and not damage the product during assembly

Pros and cons

I bought this knowing it had a lot of bad reviews but they all seemed to be regarding assembly not quality and figured (correctly) that I'm fully capable of assembling a box no matter how incomprehensible the directions are. The directions were absolutely horrible and the sheet metal absolutely will make you bleed. It comes with gloves but you can't manipulate the screws. So, if you are good at figuring things out and not afraid of a little blood, it's a great deal for metal beds!

Value for money, but don't expect great quality

There is not much to this planter. The kit comes with eight panels, four corner posts, four reinforcing bars, four plastic corner pieces and a lot of nuts and bolts. The panels are very thin and easily bent. The hassle of assembly is due to the shear number of bolts you need to do up. The instructions are not brilliant - you need to pay attention to which way up the corner posts go in relation to the panels, but this isn't clear in the pictures. It is possible to put this together with one person, but two would make it a lot easier. My kit was also missing a few bolts (but there were excess nuts), so be prepared to source some spares. Once constructed and filled, it seems sturdy enough - time will tell how well it weathers.
