This lens is bitingly sharp. It is noticeably sharper than the Fuji 33 f/1.4 with less chromatic aberration. I love the compression and the image quality of the 33, but this lens blends two lenses in one: the Fuji 23 and 33. An added bonus is the manual focusing. This is the best implementation of manual “focus by wire” of any x-mount lens I've tried. It's smooth and easy to control. Now the “cons”… it's bigger and heavier than both Fuji's (unless both of them are in your bag) but it's still well balanced on X-T+ bodies, the aperture ring is a little less satisfying, and vignetting is far more noticeable (although it's surprisingly tasteful).Believe the hype!

Let me start by saying that I love the image quality of this lens. But after trying it out over a weekend trip, I decided to return it. I usually use a SIgma 18-50mm 2.8 lens on my A6400. The heaviest lens I have used was the Sigma 16mm 1.4. I switched to the Sony 15mm 1.4 because of the size and weight. I thought I could handle the Viltrox but it is a beast. That is why I would never go to full-frame. If you are not use to heavy lens, look elsewhere. lol

Rocked the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 on my X-H2 all weekend at my local anime con. I have been pleased with it's performance taking pictures around the house, but didn't really get a chance to use it hard for lots of portraits until now.It really felt like the perfect length, I wasn't having any issues with not having enough room for full body shots, and didn't have to get weirdly close for half body (especially since I was using flash.) Most single person shots I took at 1.8 for max sharpness, and then duos at 2.8. Opened wider for some artsy detail shots or just if I needed more light.I am exceedingly pleased with it. Yes, it is a heavy and large lens, but for bodies like the X-H2/s, this feels completely natural and well balanced. I would also recommend this to X-T5 body ... MoreRocked the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 on my X-H2 all weekend at my local anime con. If you shoot portraits or often in low light, this (and it's 75mm brother) are almost mandatory to buy.

Using this on a Fuji X-T3 primarily and the focus is quick and accurate. The lens IQ itself is fantastic, sharp edge to edge, and no issues with field curvature. The out of focus areas look nice, no weirdness there. The lens is made of metal and feels durable, and the aperture ring is nice with clicks. The only thing I’ve noticed people complain about with this is the size/weight. It feels like a slightly bigger Fuji 16mm f/1.4 to me. I also have the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 which is actually very large and I only use for paid work. This lens is big but not so much that I wouldn’t walk around with it. On an X-E4 or X-Pro or XT30 it’d feel a bit weird looking and probably make the setup too front heavy. On my X/T3 & 5 or on the X-H cameras it looks fit with the body size ... MoreUsing this on a Fuji X-T3 primarily and the focus is quick and accurate. I have a long lineup of Fujinon lenses. This lens from Viltrox has received lots of praise and for good reason. Great sharpness, great color rendition, great optics, fast auto-focus and balances well in my hands on the X-H2s or the X-H1. It is weatherproofed to match the bodies.I am really liking shooting at f1.2, f2 and f5.6; this lens has opened up new compositional possibilities for me.
Yeah it's bigger than most of fujis lenses, but it's incredibly sharp at all apertures and on a camera like the x-h2 it feels nice and balanced. The autofocus isn't super fast, but it is very accurate, and it can be updated like the 75mm from Viltrox, so I expect better performance over time. The aperture ring is nicely damped and the lens creates beautiful bokeh, which is something I have missed since coming from full frame. At f1.2 there is a good amount of vignetting, but it it still very sharp corner to corner.
This lens is a beast. It's certainly not compact—it's big and pretty heavy—but the results are stunning, especially for a portrait lens. The construction and build is very solid and the auto focus is very fast, accurate, and quiet. As long as you're not looking for something light and compact (e.g. the Fuji 23mm 2.0 etc.) it's well worth the affordable price.
This lens replaced my kit lens. It's the perfect complement to my 70-300 Sony g lens. I use the 27 for family gatherings, indoor shooting, outdoor wide photos. I don't really feel boxed into any use cases.Photos are really sharp across the range of f stops. Love the effect of the lower stops for sweet blurry backgrounds.Auto focus with an a6700 has been snappy and very sharp. I haven't had any focus breathing or focus searching in my usage.Easy to use. Great build quality. Great picture.
Incredible micro-contrast and sharpness without being overly sterile, with good focus speeds on an X-T3 (can only be better on the newer models). Out of focus areas look smooth and pleasant all through the aperture range, no onion rings or distracting shapes to be seen! Worth the weight and size (though anyone with big hands won’t think twice). And at under $600? A steal.
I might have had so many of X-mount lenses, bought and sold many of them before. 2 lenses gave me feeling of being in love with them; xf 18mm 1.4 and this viltrox. in terms of image quality 75mm viltrox is the best of all, only if it could focus a little quicker.. 90mm was good but af is not so good despite 4 linear motors, other lenses that i owned were the 35f2 33f1.4 16-55, 17-70 tamron, 14f2.8, 13mm viltrox, 50mmf1.0 (meh!), 50f2, laowa 65, laowa 33, 10-24f4,… after all , what i kept is 3 lenses; viltrox 13,27,75… i wouldn’t believe this if you would tell me that i would 2 years ago :)
