I love the image quality... assuming you focus manually it's tack-sharp and has lovely bokek, and the micro-contrast is superb. Lots of 3-D depth and character, like a Zeiss. Unfortunately the AF misses most of the time on my Fuji X-T10. Oh sure, it gets a quick lock... but it's only locking on to the general background, not the subject in the focus box. I tried everything... forget it.. no dice. When focused manually the image is terrific however... and since that's what really counts I may still keep it... but be advised... the AF is worthless !

The lens works excellently with my X-T3 body! Focus fast and accurate. Eye/face AF works perfectly. Great picture quality. I also appreciate the lightweight despite its large aperture, and this is one key factor that makes me bring the lens everywhere. Highly recommended!

Initially I hesitated to purchase this lens due to its low price and consistent issues with purple fringing. Instead Viltrox did not disappoint with the 33mm f/1.4. It is relatively light weight with superb build quality for a 300 dollar lens. It takes high quality photo. This lens remains as my street photography lens and is a good budget friendly lens. Very happy with the product.

Overall, 3-stars for image quality, but adding a star for affordability.Good: lens performs great. autofocus is accurate, great sharpness, decent colors and contrast. Even works good for video-autofocus. Everything also works well in low light thanks to the extra stop.Bad: bokeh is so busy and unflattering. Bokeh in the center and mids are prone to heavy aberration that become busy, contrasted distractions. It looks like if you boosted Clarity but only in the out-of-focus areas. Bokeh on the edges look like smudges. edge bokeh also gets warped, I assume from poor corner performance. The Fujifilm 35mm f2 has much more soft and pleasing bokeh.Recommendation: For the first-time Fuji buyer that wants their first prime to go with their kit lens. Or an amateur or ... Firstly - a great lens. I love it! I already own the Viltrox 23mm and love it as well. The build quality and size is perfect for my X-T4 and X-S10. Yes there's some CA in high contrast low aperture shots but easily fixed in post. Stop down a little and it's perfect. The 33mm is also tack sharp. I only shoot stills so the stepless aperture ring is a non-issue. I also own the 23 and 35 f2 Fuji's but I prefer to shoot with the Viltrox lenses. Just buy it!

I didn't enjoy using it as much, but I didn't exactly dislike it. It just felt like a tool. Sounds dumb, but that's not the feels I want when I'm using my Fuji. It's fine and maybe I'll get used to it. I mainly use the 27mm or adapted M lenses on my Fuji, so that's whayFor AF, this one definitely felt sub par by miles next to anything on my Canon R. Even the 'Fujicron' 50mm f2 slaps this thing silly (obviously). That said, it performs really well for the price in all other areas. Which is perfectly fine for BW street since I'm usually at 5.6-8. So, I'll still be using my Fuji 50 for BW portraits. That one is a micro contrast beast.I used it for my kids wide open around the house and yard and missed a good few shots to autofocus mishaps. Again, I'm using the X-Pro2. It should be much better on the newest bodies.
1st price is excellent. Next, the lens is very sharp. Detail, DoF, Color, Contrast, and Aperture range are all quite good. Also, the size, weight, and build quality are very good. The only drawbacks to this lens that make it a 4- are (A) Aperture ghosting and (B) the noticeable softness overall at the ends of the aperture range. I can work around the softness by figuring out the sweet spots and using those apertures in this price range. BUT the weird polygon-shaped aperture ghosting at certain light angles - especially in high-contrast scenes (snow) makes me very cross! Like we say in Germany Uebung macht den meister. Now that I am aware of the ghosting I can be mindful of it. Otherwise a very good lens at the price point!
Top lense, well made, sharp, works really well with Fujifilm camera (autofocus etc). . Unfortunately I need a 23mm for my use case
Purchased this lens based on many reviews online. For my Fuji x series cameras. And it lives up to its reputation very well built robust metal finish hood also. Quick auto focus sharp lives up to Fuji quality. Excellent bokeh. Only thing lacking is weather sealing. That said Im not one for much street photography in the rain. Although Im sure would be fine if used in light drizzle. Can highly recommend
