Better Rear than Front Tire

These are comparable to Continental X-Kings with respect to weight, purpose and knob placement and spacing.I initially ran these up front paired with a Mezcal III in back but immediately found myself missing the predictability of my previous front, a Continental Hans Dampf. So I moved the Barzo to the rear on a different bike and found it to be a fast, reliable roller.Despite the product sheet stating that Graphene 2.0 offers improved wet weather grip, Barzos are best suited for dry conditions. Those wanting to ride in the slop would do well to consider Motas or Mazzas, instead.

Been on Cross Kings for about 6 years. Decided to try these since the Cross Kings are hard to find right now and these have a very similar tread. I like to run wider tires on my 29er and I ordered the 2.35 version of these, and mounted up on a 35mm internal width rim they measure 2.3". Cross Kings in the 2.3 size on the same rims actually measure 2.4". Weight difference is less than 5 grams between the two on my scale. Contis have a burlier sidewall, which is really important on a wider tire like this where you'll be running lower air pressure. About the only thing I like better about the Barzo is that they mount up easier than the Conti, but I'm happy to deal with a little off-the-bike downside for 100% on-the-bike upside with the Cross Kings. I use it on a 30mm rim, it reached 2.4 at 38psi. It should stay around 2.35 on normal pressure (bellow 28psi)Those have similar design as X-King, new FastTrak, etc.Compared to trail tires, it's rounder with "narrower" rolling area (thus less rolling resistance) I didn't try it yet but it's knobs look slightly less aggressive than spec new FastTrak (?) it should be the more standard design of the knobs that gives maybe this impression.27.5x2.35 is exactly 720g (without packaging) it is 20g heavier than advertised, which is ok. It replace a Agarro rear which has an excellent grip but it is 960g (29x2.35) Mallet configuration ;-)

Good XC tire
5 August 2023

I wrote a more in depth review and it erased before I could submit so here are the highlights. Good traction on loose over hard surfaces. Good at not picking up mud and rocks and flinging them at you. Definitely an XC tire not for big drops or jumps. Found that I needed to run slightly higher tire pressure compared to Schwalbe or Maxxis.

Great Tire
24 August 2021

I am running a Barzo in the front, and a Mezcal in the back. I love the gray sidewalls, and the grip is very good (for an xc/trail tire). There is good rolling resistance, and the tread pattern is great for my riding. (I live near SLC, and ride primarily in that area.) When I converted them to tubeless, they went on super easy. I put a little sealant around the valve stems, and then blew them up. My air compressor wasn't working, so I just used a floor pump, and the blew up and sealed. Haven't had any problems with air or sealant leak, which is not normal for me. These are now my favorite Xc/Trail tire combo. Would recommend.

Great fast XC/Trail tire - grip AND speed
29 April 2024

Black version is the cheaper, low TPI. Anthracite is the nicer high tpi version. The anthracite Barzos are able to be really fast on hardpack but still have plenty of grip for the usual SoCal San Diego dry mix of hard pack and "loose over hard" surfaces I encounter. I opted for a bit more grip over the slightly faster rolling Mezcals which I also love. Fit is snug but I can usually install by hand on my wheel combo. Able to inflate and set tubeless with just an old floor pump.

Grippy Gumwalls!
16 December 2022

Replaced my Mezcal gum walls for the Brazo tires. Love them so far and are great on the dirt and gravel. Tubeless is amazing and can run them soft to get grippy. They're tough on the streets here in LA and go over things instead of having to swing into traffic to avoid obstacles. They are heavy and there's more drag on pavement but do roll well. They feel tough so I am willing to add the weight and rolling resistance. Even around boulder and rocky single track sections, the sidewalls hold up.

Light weight. Good looks. Grip in all conditions. What more could you ask for?
14 March 2023

The tires are easy to mount and seal up well when tubeless. The gray sidewalls give a whole new look that is very appealing. The tires seem to work well in just about all conditions. As for working with Bike inn....their communication and tracking is awesome. The only drawback is that shipment to the US takes nearly 4 weeks because of customs holds. Be prepared to wait a while for any order. Prices are fantastic though. I will certainly use Bike inn again.

Love these tires ??
20 May 2024

Not sure why only one (1) review on this tire. Purchased for front/rear combo on a Mojo 4, 27.5 x 2.60, easily handled everything I threw at em. Loves FAST and LOOSE downhill runs, eats mud, excellent climbing traction and great singletrack cornering grip. Lets see....what else.....time to discover "what else"....think I'll keep them mounted for a while ??...

Superb XC Race / Fast Trail Tyre
19 November 2020

I normally run the excellent Vittoria Mezcals for XC racing......a super quick tyre thats fast rolling, progressive in grip and excellent in dry conditions. But I needed something that could cope better with damp conditions and slippery off camber sections that seem to becoming the norm in British XC racing these days, so tried the Barzo. It looks more agressive and has deeper side tread, spaced out slightly taller knobs but still retains a fast rolling off set centre tread. Quite honestly it doesn't feel any slower than the Mezcal in a mixture of conditions - even on the road, but off road, its definitely more grippy and can be leaned on loads more - turns in much better etc. Perhaps slightly heavier due to the extra tread so I went for 2.25 versus 2.35 that i ran ... MoreI normally run the excellent Vittoria Mezcals for XC racing......a super quick tyre thats fast rolling, progressive in grip and excellent in dry conditions. They set up easy tubeless and they also look super cool with the grey side walls......(if the looks are important to you). Not cheap but you pay for what you get. So a great all rounder and highly recommended.
