Vortex has excellent customer service and generally makes very good binoculars. I have tried many of them and love their work. These Raptors are an exception. They are not up to par with Vortex's usual quality. The focus wheel in particular is horrible and the optics are hit or miss. I even tried two pair.

My wife purchased these Vortex 10X32 Raptors for daytime birding and she loves them. We also own Nikon 10X50 and these are as sharp or sharper than the Nikons. The smaller objective size does not result in any significant daytime brightness difference (both have excellent brightness). Setting the interpupillary distance on the Raptors is noticeably more critical using the Vortex glasses, but is easy to do and they hold the setting firmly once adjusted. The set we received was aligned perfectly so image convergence is perfect with no eyestrain.The performance is impressive and the reduced weight of only 500 grams (compared to 900 grams for the 10X50 Nikons, and the reduced size REALLY makes a difference on long walks. I don't understand the rationale for spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on optics when Vortex has glass like this available. Bright and clear image that provides plenty of contrast to allow you to pick out your subject easily. So far, my family has used this product for bird-watching, but I'm looking forward to taking it into the woods with me this fall.
These were great binoculars, crisp image, easy to adjust, rugged but they didn't fit my particular needs. Found out the Zoom binocular would become just a hair fuzzy at fully extended while being crisp at the wide angle end. 10 power I couldn't hand hold steady enough to meet my needs - these were actually the best of all the ones I tried but I just couldn't get the range I wanted for elk, fox, coyote, bear hunting. Great warranty which attracted me to Vortex. My rifle scope is from Vortex - and it's fantastic and comes with a No questions ask warranty. Great binoculars , excellent glass, good exterior coating - just a great binocular. A definite recommend to a friend Binocular - you won't be disappointed. I wasn't Excellent quality
I bought 3 sets of Vortex Raptor Binoculars for 3 grand children 11,13, and 14. We used them on a family camping trip to the Finger Lakes Region. The 8.5 gave these new birders a large field of view and a steady look at all the different species we found.
I originally went to sportsman's for a decent pair of glasses. Started looking around and saw these vortex raptors for 99. I ask to see it, right away I noticed how lightweight these are. Beyond impressed with clarity. I bought a pair. My store didn't have any chest rigs available so I ordered it online from sportsman's. I'm strongly considering buying a pair for my 85 yr old grandfather as a Christmas gift. Highly recommend this product. I was about to but a pair of Simmons at 62.00.
Frist, read the 4 negative reviews.Three of them aren't even for binoculars, but for some other item. I have several pair of Vortex binocs buying my first pair when they were a new product and considered "off brand." I bought these for backyard birding, but they would be perfect for hunting or vacation sight-seeing. The price point is great, especially if you have a coupon or points. And don't overlook the "no questions asked, no receipt needed" lifetime warrant. I've been rough on my hunting binocs and never needed service, but know that if I ever do they will stand behind it. These 8 x 32 seem ideal for the great majority of what I do...turkey, deer, birding. Light, clear view, good grip and feel. Buy these and you'll be happy. .
I bought these for my Son for Xmas but I couldn't resist taking them out and trying them out.To my surprise they are no doubt better than mine..so now it looks like I need another pair.Clarity is top notch..ease of use perfect..Size for harnessing perfect..worth every penny..!!
I left my old Nikon binoculars out in the rain and they filled up with water, so I went researching and these were in the top 10 on 10 different websites and on most of the sites it was in the top 2 or 3. These are half the size of normal binoculars but have so much better clarity and FOV, the 10x zoom is massive and I am absolutely impressed, the best optics i've ever owned hands down, the VIP unconditional lifetime warranty is well worth the pricetag. They are shockproof, waterproof, fog proof, and if you break them they will send you new ones for the rest of your life!
