This is a great monocular. Very clear. Very solid. Easy to carry around. The reticle is sharp and with practice, is easy to use. B&H shipping and service are excellent! Pricey, but worth every penny!

My unit was made in Japan. The build quality exceeds all expectations for a device at this price point, and even ten times the base price. The front optic cover is perfect, while the rear cover is the exact opposite; it's strange. The rear cover fits inside the unfolded eye-cup, and makes a suction fit, which if left physically undisturbed, provides an adequate dust and moisture seal.If I remove the eye-cup, the rear cap does not fit over the flange designed for the eye-cup. I am perturbed by this rear cap, and will modify the unit once I figure out how to solve the problem. My biggest issue out of the box is the focusing rings resistance to turning (torque). I cannot move the ring unless my left hand firmly grips the body of the scope, while my right hands thumb and forefinger manipulates the ring. I thought about this for a while, and concluded that the O-rings must be providing a friction brake on the rotation, and that a few hundred operations of the focus ring will loosen up the mechanism to where one-handed adjustment is possible. My gut feeling is that the O-rings chemical composition is too grippy for the fitment. So why did I not return the scope given these two setbacks that really disappointed me? Answer: when I put my eye up to a $2000 monocular of similar capability, the clarity, light transmission, and fine detailed information painted on my retina was not as good as the Vortex Recce Pro HD. Period. The big value-add of the Recce Pro is the ranging reticle. I also intend on purchasing the Recon R/T, which if it was in-stock, would have been my first choice and instantly ordered.I will send an e-mail to Vortex asking for advice on how to break-in the focus to ring so that it can be operated single handedly with very little resistance to torque. I will share their response here when I receive it.

Vortex filled a niche with the Recce Pro HD that needed filling, the mid-priced regular sized monocular with above average optics, good armor and fully waterproof. First my minor complaints, The Molle case. While Coyote Tan is a great color, Black or even Grey would have been a more tactical color choice. Plus a little more room in the case to easily put the scope in either way. It's a well made case and protects the scope but just a bit more room would make it easier to case it with one hand. Also it's not waterproof although the scope has excellent waterproofing from Vortex, If you're like me and want to keep it safe find a waterproof pouch to keep it in for wet conditions. Now on to the good, the 8x32 may seem a bit small to some but the 393ft field of view is ... MoreVortex filled a niche with the Recce Pro HD that needed filling, the mid-priced regular sized monocular with above average optics, good armor and fully waterproof. Now on to the good, the 8x32 may seem a bit small to some but the 393ft field of view is wider than a lot of 8x42 binoculars. The focus is razor sharp and stays put on this scope with the firm focus ring setup. Nice bright images even at dusk. Size and shape are easy to grip and the Molle clip slips on to your vest easily I'm very happy with my Recco Pro and would definitely recommend it to anyone on the fence. This scope is a keeper for me. I hope it will be for you too Just an update to this review I found a padded utility case from voodoo tac that works perfect with this.
