There are a lot of mixed reviews for HPLV paint sprayers but I decided to take the plunge as I've got a lot of wood panelling that needs painting in a refurbishment project. After working through instructions and watching a couple of YouTube explainers I had a go with "Jonstone's Aqua Satin" tinted to our colour code. The set up took a bit of experimentation and I thinned the paint by 10% but on full power and #4 on the paint volume scale I seemed to get some great results. It took WAY less time than painting with a brush or roller and gave me an incredibly flat finish. The clean up isn't too difficult either. I'd say just as long as cleaning rollers, trays and paint brushes. The down sides... I doubt this paint sprayer would cope with oil based paints, and a couple ... You also have to mask/tape/cover everything you don't want covered in paint (I mean everything) and wear a mask as the mist can be quite fine. With all that in mind I'm incredibly happy with this product. It made a really fiddly, difficult job really very easy.

Overall a good product but a pain to clean. I used it to paint anti-mould paint into my rafters. I could have gone for a cheaper paint sprayer, but thought I may use this elsewhere in my project. When clean and paint is a good consistency the finish is quite good. However, after prolonged use the head needs to be cleaned as it dries up and clogs up. MUST clean quickly after spraying otherwise it takes ages !

Very disappointed with this purchase just not up to the job of spraying emulsion. With a full paint container the spray unit weighs approx 2.5 kilos which you have to hold at arms length. It took 5 hours to give a very light spray coat to a 10x7 foot bedroom. Next day my arm was wrecked and the stay coat very patchy. Went back to using a paint roller and the finish was far better and very much quicker.

Does it save time ? NO. I was expecting this to be a real time-saver, but it's exactly the opposite.Paint needs to be sieved to make sure that even the smallest amount of impurities don't make it into the paint container, otherwise the nozzle will block. You don't need to do that for a brush or roller.Due to the huge amount of mess (overspray and around 2M of 'back blast' even on a mid power setting) you need a huge amount of protection - masking, drop film and covering everything in sight. All that masking and protection takes time to get right, or risk damaging existing finishes and materials (i.e. carpets), way more so that masking-up for painting by brush/roller.The turbine unit creates hot air, which passes through the hose, which heats the gun/nozzle. ... All that masking and protection takes time to get right, or risk damaging existing finishes and materials (i.e. carpets), way more so that masking-up for painting by brush/roller.The turbine unit creates hot air, which passes through the hose, which heats the gun/nozzle. This causes the paint to dry in/around the nozzle in seconds. If you can't keep spraying continuously the nozzle blocks frequently, requiring it to be disassembled and cleaned. More time wasted.Does it use less paint ? NO. Over-spray = waste.Does it produce a good finish ? NO. Despite experimenting with the various settings (turbine speed; paint volume; nozzle orientation) this unit seems to have just two finishes : spatter and orange peel. Both look dreadful and are particularly noticeable on woodwork (i.e. skirtings and architraves).I watched loads of YouTube videos about this specific product before deciding to buy one. Don't believe the demonstrations in the conveniently simple environments - they are very misleading in my opinion. In short, I'll be going back to brushes and rollers. They are hassle-free, give a better finish and, crucially, are quicker.
I purchased this item after starting to paint my double garage made internally of Thermalite bricks. The job was demoralizing doing it manually. After doing a bit of research and initially looking at purchasing a handheld Wagner I realized I needed something with a larger container and spray head.On the initial opening of the item, I was impressed with the two different size containers and heads that cover various applications. Everything seems very good quality and easily cleaned.I read the instructions before use and started using my mat white emulsion in the garage. The paint had to be diluted by 10% to vapourise enough to spray. More than 10% dilution ended up with runs on the wall so I stuck with the recommendations. The large application sprayer gave a ... The paint had to be diluted by 10% to vapourise enough to spray. More than 10% dilution ended up with runs on the wall so I stuck with the recommendations. The large application sprayer gave a really good and even finish, it took a bit of practice and covered an area so much quicker than rollering. This really was excellent product to use in my garage and filled all those holes/air pockets that you get with these Thermalite / Engineering blocks. You could not paint inside those with a roller or brush without great difficulty. A number of people have commented on the finish! It gets through a lot of paint, but is also lot more efficient than a roller and brush I used just over 2 large 10L tubs to paint a double garage and plastered ceiling - very impressed. You can do a number of passes and get your 2 coats without any runs in the same session. It is also very easy to clean, dismantles well and takes a maximum of 10 mins to do so to an acceptable level. Now that I have finished. I will clean the main housing and hose down seperatly. The only downsides I have:1) I'm not sure how confident I would be to use this inside a house, certainly on a ceiling where there is a lot of overspray downstream.2) I would attempt doing a wall, but you would have to do some good masking in corners and doorways. (Not every application is a flat wall without plugs and doorways as per the Wagner demonstration!)3) On its highest setting of '20' it creates a large volume of air and therefore it generates a large throw with the paint. You will get paint travelling a good 4/5 meters if your painting a ceiling where you cannot get a direct angle.4) I painted my garage and masked everything e.g garage door, runners, plugs, boiler RCD unit. If you want a good finish and get close to things this is the only way to do things without completely ruining the item next to where you are painting.5) If you have plastic dust sheets on items then the large volume of air that comes out of this item creates a vacuum in areas that sucks the sheets of items - be careful and make sure sheets are held down or taped. It would be good to lower the volume of air / turn of machine from the trigger (Like a traditional compressor) without having to down this on the main body. This would be a nice update.
With 35 years of traditional brush and roller DIY painting under my belt, I was sceptical about wasting my money on any type of paint sprayer. However, I needed to gloss paint 20 doors (both sides) and nearly 250m of skirtings and architraves, and I really detest glossing and cutting-in, so I decided to try this paint sprayer.WOW...WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! This is an awesome piece of kit and I wish I had one 35 years ago.Okay - you need to do a bit more preparation work with masking tape and protective sheeting. But once this is done and the sprayer's ready to go, you simply pull the trigger and off you go - super fast compared to brush and roller techniques. I completed the entire house glossing in less than an hour....including staircase spindles!!!I was so happy ... I completed the entire house glossing in less than an hour....including staircase spindles!!!I was so happy with this sprayer....on the first morning I used it, I carried on and emulsion painted my wife's home office walls and ceiling (5mx4m room) as a surprise whilst she was out shopping. By late afternoon, she was back working in her office.Like anything you need to keep in good condition, this sprayer needs a good clean afterwards, and the manufacturers instructions are clear to follow for this. The room preparation, setting the sprayer up, and cleaning afterwards are the time consuming parts of painting with this machine. The actual time spent spraying is minimal in comparison....but the finished spray job is definitely to a professional standard.So....guess who's a Great Husband with a Great Product and a Great Paint-job??
I needed to paint some quite rough roughcast on a garage. I did a bit with a brush and it looked awful so I tried this sprayer. It was not perfect but did a much better job than the brush. I was worried because the instructions were not clear as to whether masonry paint would work. The instructions did say that emulsion was fine but 'facade paint' could not be used. Anyway, I used slightly watered down Granocryl smooth masonry paint. I had to set the air quite high and it got through more paint than I expected but it looked pretty decent. Cleaning the sprayer etc. afterwards was easier than I expected.
I bought this to paint 60m of feather board fencing. I had read some reviews about certain paints clogging the nozzle. I used Cuprinol Fence Care and didn't have any issues. The sprayer was easy to setup and worked perfectly. I have painted 50 litres of paint with it so far in 4 sessions with out any major issues. The spray head breaks down in to 4 or 5 plastic pieces which clean easily in water. The paint seems not to stick to the plastic to it cleaned up almost like new after each session. I haven't had it block at all and the spray pattern is consistent and even. It took a few minutes initially to find the optimum setting for paint and air volume to deliver the best coverage. But now its set I haven't touched it since. I'm very happy. I was going to buy a W590 ... MoreI bought this to paint 60m of feather board fencing. I was going to buy a W590 but couldn't find any in stock in the UK. So I bought this W690, the advantage being you are not holding the motor for prolonged periods, as the motor on the W690 is in the separate unit on the floor, so I guess this model is slightly better for long painting periods as its lighter in your hand.
I bought this to paint the inside walls of a double garage, using Leyland trade emulsion. I was told at screwfix depo that it wouldn’t work, but I’m pleased to say it has. The measure / stirrer to dilute the pot contents is great, the extra long hose allowed me to leave the main unit on the floor. The only tip I would give is if the temperature is low (it was around 12 -13 deg c on the day of painting is I mixed in 20% of warm water from hot tap, this helped the spraying.
I make this review having previously used a more expensive Wagner airless sprayer on a 7 bedroom house. Sadly after 5 years of no use my old sprayer failed to keep pressure so to avoid the ridiculously high replacement part costs for Wagner spares I opted for this model. My advice is if your buying it for emulsion don't bother. The time it took me to get the paint thin enough to spray evenly was infuriating, as was the constant refilling of the 1.8l tank (which gets heavy after a couple of hours use) . To add to this the motor would overheat and cut out after an hour or so use which clogged up the spray gun (forcing another cleaning episode) until the machine cooled enough to start up again. I can't advise on how it would be painting fences but for emulsion I would strongly recommend you opt for a more expensive model or a roller!
