I ordered this as a replacement for my wife’s unit that finally died. It wouldn’t charge — the longer that it was plugged in “charging”, the less charge that the unit carried. So I returned it and bought another. Same deal. I wrote customer support and they gave me a bunch of suggestions, none of which works. I don’t know if there was just a bad bunch of these things, but I’m through trying. I should mention, I have an older version Elemnt that is still going strong. I’m not willing to see if the 3rd time would be the charm . . . . Moving on to a Garmin!

The first impression was good due to a good quality packaging plus the promise of connectivity and features. After charging and switching on the device I felt the display is poor and reminded me of Nokia phone. After using an old and worn out Garmin for years I looked around for a replacement and considered another Garmin but a couple of my cycling buddies recommended the Wahoo Bolt. I also noted that Peter Sagan has one, so, if its good enough for him......I’ve been using it on rides for a few weeks now and it’s amazing. It’s become my new ride buddy telling me when to GO! and giving me the whole stat package. It shows me texts from my phone and all the usual ride data, it’s soooo good. Although the sleek, aero mount doesn’t fit my Canyon bars I have bought the adapter that connects it to the regular strap on bar mount which works fine. The LEDs at the top of the display can be set to highlight a range of things like speed, heart rate etc and the buttons toggle the ... The numbers are smaller or larger as a result which is helpful when you’re sweating it out on White down or some other killer climb. The battery life is good and, though I haven’t been out for a solid day with it, it does a good half day ride and still has more for the next outing. It chirps out alerts for Strava segments and other notices and gives you elevation profiles on climbs. It’s a smart piece of kit. You don’t need anything else. It might not make you Peter Sagan but you will feel like him and have the stats to back it up when you use the phone app to upload to Strava.

Bought this little unit about a month ago. First off, great packaging, and a joy to unbox. Been looking around at something more than just a basic speed and cadance bike computer for a while, something with GPS. It also connects to your Strava, and Strava segments(if you've got the premium "Summit" account), if you're into that sort of thing! Sorry for this Strava plug! I love Strava, being a solo road biker, it lets you be part of a bigger cycling community, challenge yourself. Gives you an idea of how unbelievable even local riders are. Ok, enough Strava shilling. I looked at Garmin's, which pretty much control the bike computer market, but good models are expensive, and from talking with other riders, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable MEC associate, I ... I looked at Garmin's, which pretty much control the bike computer market, but good models are expensive, and from talking with other riders, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable MEC associate, I decided to give it a try. A few cash flush riders,(N+1), I know use the Elemnt, even though they could basically afford top line Garmin's. Easy to set up, hopefully you've got Wifi at your home base! And of course a smart phone, with aforementionedStrava! The Elemnt is very easy to set up, comes with 2 mounts, a standard "Garmin style" handle bar youzap strap on, and an aero mount style one, that sits in front of your stem. I've got a Cervelo S2 aero, and Synapse 105C, so the aero ended up on the S2. The controls are easy to use, with a page button to scroll though a basic info screen, elevation, Strava segments, map. I'm also using a Wahoo Blue SC(speed and cadance), which I previously bought, but found to be quite poor on its own( you need to mount your smartphone). But in conjunction with the Elemnt, and companion app, it really works nicely. I've experienced a few wild readings with the Elemnt, top speed wise, and the auto pause is pretty sensitive to movement at stops. The screen is monochromatic, but very easy to read, and you can zoom in or out to expand or reduce the data coming at you. Overall, one month in, still a great upgrade from a simple bike computer. Would recommend!
I'm sad to say this, as I am wrapt in my Wahoo Kickr Snap (10 seconds & I'm on the road; or I'm cycling hard inside!). But this Quick Release Skewer lets the product down. It's the lock lever: quick release skewers have lock levers which are hard riveted into place; but the substitute Wahoo skewer -- important for the secure use of the stand -- has a lock level held in place by two C-spring washers. The skewer which came with the stand popped those washers immediately; and when they were re-seated popped at least one washer every time closed. Thus the skewer could never be tightened. The replacement skewer I've bought is slightly better, but the wheel is still not tightened down. Now, I appreciate that the stand's strong clamping quick release does hold the bicycle ... My first bike computer and I'm v happy.- I thought I'd have to prep roots on Komoot or MapMyRide to get turn by turn directions, but I can upload starred Strava routes to the Bolt very easily (from a laptop, don't think it can be done from a mobile) and the Bolt then gives turn by turn directions- The Bolt screen is small but it's so clear, and the distance to next turn is displayed making it easy to anticipate junctions. The LEDs also flash left or right (turned off the beeping).- When they're not giving directions you can set the LEDs to indicate HR or various other metrics, which is useful when on the map page which really only has room for speed and distance to next turn.- It feels less substantial than I expected but that's because it's made of plastic ... This is my first ever cycling GPS device and I couldn't be happier with it. The battery life is amazing. My longest use was 16hours and it still had some battery left (keep in mind I turned down all "unnecessary" options). It's light and perfectly waterproof even in pouring rain.Communication between a smartphone and the Bolt is very fast and works smoothly - planned routes and workouts upload in seconds.Screen is fairly small, but with the colour scheme, it's very easy to ready during cycling.Live re-routing option is fantastic and can help when you made a wrong turn. All in all, this device is great and allows going for long rides with peace of mind that you won't get lost.
Having never used a head unit before, the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt has transformed my rides! I’ve had the Wahoo ELEMNT bolt for a month now and I’ve found the routes function so helpful. I build a route on one of the supported apps which syncs with the Wahoo so easily. The colour screen makes navigating easier along with the noise and LED pointers whilst you’re riding. No more stopping and starting to look up the route on the phone! Clear and helpful stats so I can track my progress. Strava live segment feature gets me out on the bike and competing on the climbs much more. I went for the Bolt over the Roam as it’s slightly smaller and does everything I need for a cheaper price. Definitely would recommend if you’re looking for your next upgrade!
Good: The screen pages are super easy to set up using the companion app on your phone. The LED's are nice for navigation and power targets. There is no glare on the screen and is very easy to read in all light conditions.Bad: I have done 3 races over 12hrs and each time the navigation map has completely frozen and is useless. Even stopping or powering down the unit does nothing to unfreeze the map. You must end your ride and restart the ride and route. I reached out to Wahoo and they said it's a known sporadic issue on rides post 13 hours and they recommend breaking the rides into segmented lengths that would be consistent with a normal charging time. Basically the map will freeze at the units standard battery cycle (for me it's about 14hrs with my settings). I ... I wouldn't recommend this unit for anyone interested in ultra endurance events. Somewhere in the Wahoo tech description it should say only good for 1 charge cycle at a time. Wahoo knows about the issue.
My first Wahoo device coming from a Garmin.Does everything it says it does.Really simple to use, navigation is good, battery life is good. Screen really easy to see even in direct sunlight. Comes with two mounting options. All maps are free.Syncs with Strava great.Knocked off a star due to a number of software bugs that I am finding. Nothing serious but annoying non the less. Struggle to get Wahoo support to acknowledge them even though lots of people are reporting the same bugs.I did expect some bugs with the device being new, so hopefully these will be fixed quite soon.

Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt GPS Bike Computer
Wahoo Fitness set out to design a bike computer that helped improve your performance, not just record it. An ideal companion for training and racing, the BOLT is compatible with Bluetooth Smart and ANT+ for integration with Strava, Ride with GPS and other training platforms. Over 50% less drag than leading competitor. In a 40km time trial traveling at a 21mph, the rider with a Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT will be 12.6 seconds faster than the rider using the leading GPS bike computer competitor. Designed to maximize readability. If you slightly tilt the leading competitor bike computer to better read the screen, the air resistance increases significantly, thus slowing the rider down. Conversely, if you tilt the ELEMNT BOLT (not that you need to because of its curved design) the air resistance does not change or affect the overall performance. Minimizes air resistance. When using the BOLT aero mount – included in the box – the bike computer becomes a ‘system’, saving approximately 1.1 watts vs. the leading GPS bike computer. This equates to >50% reduction required power to push this system through the air.
